The Andrew Phillips Thread
This is not a sound strategy If Max goes down we start to lose all structure and rob players from their best positions IMO - Jackson and Bradke not ready to take first ruck yet and Weed / TMac / Brown not good options

The Andrew Phillips Thread
Statistically not much difference between him and big Brayden - puts us back into having a bona fide back up to Max as a big bodied ruck I too would prefer him over McKernan who is a plodder This guy is an honest toiler from the little sample I've seen

Farewell Mitch Hannan
Mitch is now worth more in the market than Jesse Hogan - wow how things change I rate Mitch and like him as a player - seems to have all the skills and physical characteristics to be a very good footballer but sadly never seems to get the ball enough and contribute consistently. Hence can see why a long term deal is difficult for the club - obviously WB's see things differently Hopefully letting him go doesn't turn into another Jeremy Howe :(

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
Not sure he would walk into our team - he’s not replacing Langdon and not convinced he’s an upgrade on others that could play the other wing (Harmes, Salem, maybe even Baker who I’d say is quicker)

2020 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty
Has played 11 games total - some patience and realism necessary here I think I think he has potential but thinking he is going to be a dominant CHB any time soon is unrealistic - he will be doing extremely well if he manages to get selected each week he is available in 2021

What I mean is that Freo would have done a medical on Jesse Hogan. That process would not have identified other issues that may (or may not) be the reason why they now want to move him on after being so desperate to get him back to Perth I'm a JH fan and really hope he sorts his life out and can carve a successful career in the AFL but I worry that is not going to happen - and its not because his body is not capable of playing the game or passing a medical test If Sideshow Bob is physically up to the rigors of the AFL then I still wonder why his current club (who are struggling for survival) would be desperate to see him out the door Hence my concern Brown is maybe NQR

Like the one Freo did on JH ?

The question for me is why a busted arz team would want to see the back of him - something tells me I am missing something Maybe Sideshow is NQR

2020 Grand Final
Maybe - or just smart. He was barely able to lift his left arm If I was Hardwick I'd very happy to see him out there after the injury - if he was off the ground sure they would be down on rotations but I still believe it worked to Richmond's advantage him staying on the ground A very disappointing end for him and Geelong

2020 Grand Final
To be honest they didn't really need to attack Ablett after he returned to the field - he was visibly very sore and more of a liability than a threat - I suspect if it wasn't his last hurrah he would not have returned to the field

To Hell and Back
Shame that's all we seem capable of winning

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
My concerns remain the ridiculous and painful runup when kicking for goal the ridiculous hair the ridiculous staging for free kicks (with some considerable success I might add) I accept none of these are reasons to not embrace him but its not easy Our forward line is rubbish and has been for some time - Weid IMO still has a very long way to go and TMac seems destined for somewhere else sadly. Jackson could be good in years to come but will need time to mature

They played finals and we didn't - could have something to do with it

Well Done Christian Petracca
Fantastic to see CP5 move closer to his full potential - sky is the limit Hope he can consolidate and keep improving next year and get the rewards he will deserve
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
He would help our free kick for/against differential - gets paid more free kicks than anyone else in the AFL Not sure I could ever like the 50 metre run up when he kicks for goal - so ridiculous Lazy and doesn't apply pressure A few more goals from our key forwards - that would be good So torn of this one

Ruthlessness MFC Style!
The reverse to that is pretty scary A sustained period of losing and that becomes the norm - you have a fear of winning Wait a minute - sounds familiar
-
Gary Pert on The Deebrief
Agree I posted before the Sydney game that I hoped there would not be complacency - unfortunately that’s what seemed to happen no idea whether this is backed up by stats but I’d be amazed if MFC didn’t have the worst stats on winning games when they go into them as clear favourites - happens multiple times each season and it’s been an ongoing theme for decades. Good teams just don’t do that other than the occasional slip

Basic stats on disposal efficiency and efficiency from inside 50 entries (which is appalling) would suggest there isn't that much talent Sometimes it's hard to accept that our players just aren't much chop - apart from five to maybe eight of them I think the rest would struggle to get a game for the likes of WC or Geelong atm They include May, Petracca, Brayshaw, Max, Oliver, - you could mount a case for Viney, Lever and Langdon but the rest I doubt would be getting a run right now
