I'm wondering who we think is our ruck back up should Grundy go and Max gets an injury. For me the cupboard would be well and truly bare - Schache isn't really up to it IMO and Verrall whilst showing potential is not ready and may not be for some time. If Grundy is going, I hope we are seriously looking at another ruck who can compete with the big boys.

Thought he was a right footer ?

Maybe - is he better than either of Petty or Joel Smith? Will Jefferson be better in 2 years? If we were talking about Larkey, McKay, Lynch or Allen I can see the appeal and clear point of difference of the taller player but for Georgiades I'm not so sure. Ultimately, I suppose it comes down to cost - if he isn't costing the earth then maybe worth a punt. He does have good hands I will give him that.

    How so ?

Not saying he's a champion or anything but he is 1cm shorter than JVR and 6cm taller than Melksham who I see as the closest proxy in our current forward set up

I absolutely hate losing but if a win against the swans means a trip interstate for a QF then I'm reasonably comfortable with a close loss at the SCG
  7. Have only seen a little bit of video but he does seem like a very good KP prospect.

He was born in Port Augusta SA

    What?
  10. I'm a believer in Verrall, albeit he hasn't set the world on fire this season. He has had some serious injury challenges to overcome this year which has no doubt negatively impacted his fitness base which is critical in the role he is asked to play. Fingers crossed he gets a really solid pre-season in 2024 and can really start to show some solid form. Depending on where we land with ruck stocks next year I wouldn't mind getting a look at him as a tall forward option.
  11. That was Grundy (replacing Jackson) - the others you mentioned weren't really getting game time anyway (Daw, Brown, Weid) Unfortunately, Grundy hasn't been able to deliver what we all hoped - so far.
  12. Wasn't that Jefferson and Adams?

Ladhams is hopeless I really hope he isn't ever considered for the MFC
  14. Agree Mitchell is quite impressive in his pressers - they have the makings of a decent team in the next few years. Despite their ladder position and win/loss ratio this year their future looks brighter than a few other higher profile teams IMO
  15. Daniel Turner has a future as an AFL player IMHO.

Agree that McKay is not worth anything like pick 3 - can you even begin to imagine the absolute meltdown on this site if we traded a pick 3 for him - OMG If his draft number when selected had any relevance to his value now we should be looking at moving Josh Schache on for a low first rounder - Hah !
  20. Would have thought Watson was the last thing we needed to improve our list IMO
  21. Agree it's a wise decision but very unfortunate - could certainly play

I find it quite remarkable that we haven't got access to technology that can give us 99% accuracy on these decisions. In cricket they can detect the faintest of edges in the centre wicket area, or whether the ball will strike the stumps or not, and in tennis if the ball touches the line or misses by millimeters. In our game we get blurred images which 9 times out of ten are inconclusive - does the AFL like it this way or are they just too tight to pay for something that actually is worth having.
  23. Trying to give someone else a chance ?
  24. Love Tmac but that was my take as well - hard to see him getting enough fitness back in the time remaining to be a weapon.
  25. We'd be well advised to pick our best possible team this week and win - lock in a top 4 spot and then do whatever floats your boat in the final game.
