  1. Correct on all counts.
  2. 'Footy Manager'. I wonder if he means the Josh Mahoney role of General Manager - Football and Casey Operations or the Daniel Mcpherson role of Manager - Football Operations and AFLW, who reports to Mahoney. Or even the Peter Maynard role General Manager - Casey Football. And there is the role of Garry O'Sullivan of Casey Football Manager Looks like a fair bit of overlap there. Would expect some rationalisation of the non-player side of FD positions to meet the FD soft cap.
  3. Kozzie updated: Updated for Hibberd and Jones one year extensions. Have also added Draft Picks to the chart.
  4. This threads looks a good place to put this: trade news Why clubs will look to hold onto future picks "AFL.com.au has spoken to a number of clubs and player managers recently, who have all predicted a significant reduction in the number of future picks that will be traded over the coming weeks...It will subsequently mean that more draft hopefuls will miss their chance later this year and will become eligible to return to talent pathway programs next season, adding to an already strong 2021 NAB AFL Draft crop that has recruiters excited for what's to come." We know this years draft is compromised in so many ways which in itself is reason enough to keep future picks. That 2021 is considered a strong draft and those that miss out this year will be in the draft next year, is another reason for clubs to keep future picks.
  5. Sam McClure is suggesting Coll want Treloar out because they think he won't cope well with his family interstate: “...I remember if it wasn’t for my partner Kimmy, for Nick Maxwell, Bucks, Jacqui [Louder] who is my psych/really, really good friend and my family, I probably wouldn’t be playing footy, to be honest with you... ...While Treloar is adamant that living away from his partner and daughter won’t impact on his football, the Collingwood hierarchy disagrees". adam-treloar-stuck-in-the-middle A google search connects his psych, Jacqui Lounder to Collingwood. Fair to assume the club has inside knowledge so have an extra 'duty of care' in how they deal with him. It might be a good idea for Eddie to talk to lawyers on extent of their 'duty of care'. Also, I have some problem with the ethics of Coll offloading him for potential psychological reasons which may or may not affect football performance.
  6. I think @xman97 means is what happened to Freo this year: *Fremantle's first pick was adjusted due to a 264.9 deficit from 2019 indicative-draft-order Their natural pick should be #7 but has slipped to #10. It is a loophole as a club can trade out its future 1st round pick eg for a top player in the draft and use 'rubbish picks for their academy/FS and go into deficit where the points come out of next years first 'natural' pick. GWS and Port last year traded out their 2020 first rnd pick so the deficit comes out of the 2020 2nd round pick, as follow (from the article) : '*Greater Western Sydney's second pick was adjusted due to a 254.2 deficit from 2019. *Port Adelaide's second pick was adjusted due to a 115.9 deficit from 2019. The loophole should be closed to stop clubs trading out their top picks then using rubbish picks for academy/FS whether or not they go into deficit. North did it a few years ago. Guarantee the dogs will do it this year for a kid who will probably go #1.
  7. He was ready to play a long time before he got a game this year. I read a report saying Freo didn't play him so that he would not reach the trigger points in 2021 to extend his contract on bigger $ into 2022 and beyond. Once they changed coaches Longmuir didn't have the same ownership of the Jesse decision that Lyon had. Maybe as a young coach he isn't in a position to put in the time and energy needed to get the best from Jesse. Maybe at the 'right' club he can deliver more than he has in recent years. Richmond or Sydney could be that club.
  8. They messed up by giving Beams a LT offer which he still has two years on and doesn't play. They have offered Grundy a 7yr deal on (reportedly) around $1m a year (which doesn't start until next year). And who knows what other LT deals they have. It looks like they expected the sal cap to increase forever and it would 'rescue' them. Well covid snookered that plan. With the Treloar deal they have virtually made him untradeable as it is unlikely anyone will take on his hefty contract for 5 years when he may not be fit enough to see it out. Yes, the TMac contract is small fry $ and years in comparison. And credit to the club and Tom that all parties are being very dignified about it.
  9. His contract is $900k per annum for the next 5 years. The $200 k subsidy Coll are offering is only for year 1. Then we have a $900k burden on our sal cap for a player who might struggle to get a game in a few years. I admire Treloar's courage and his outlook on life but I don't think he is an option for us. As you say let Coll sort out their own mess.
  10. Thanks. I tried to stay away from rumours as I felt facts would be more convincing to cover 'Sydees'' concerns. re the rumours you mention. Good on him for putting his family first. If I was his wife and went thru what she did I wouldn't be too happy with the club either.
  11. This has come up in a number of your posts so I'll give you a view: The things we know: He turned down North's contract offer which they subsequently withdrew due to covid and sal cap reductions. North messed Brown around at the time of creating the hubs (some of it not their doing). North were insensitive to his wife's miscarriage. North are in a bit of a mess He has seen a number of his mates and club staff unceremoniously dumped. The people who withdrew his offer and (mis) managed the hub are still at North. North may have initiated the split (and could now be regretting it) but given the above why would he want to stay. I have seen or heard nothing that supports your idea that he is NQR. But lets assume he is carrying a lingering injury. I have full confidence that our medical team has done their due diligence and will get him right if necessary.
  12. They want him to ask for a trade. Then they can 'sell it to members' and the public as his choice and take the moral high ground. But Treloar isn't playing their game. On the public front Matt Randell (ex but recent Recruiting Manager) outed the meeting of Buckley and Treloar where he was told Coll 'don't want him'. Eddy hasn't denied that meeting and has been remarkably silent, which speaks volumes. Probably in damage control. Coll is rapidly losing control of the narrative and it is getting horribly messy. Treloar is showing great courage to take on the Coll establishment. I just hope he comes out of this ok on the personal front.
  13. The people who made the decision to cancel the early contract offer and to oust him from the club are still there. No way would he stay.
  14. Higgins had major brain surgery in 2019. Great credit to him to come back and play 13 games in 2020. But those games weren't at the level of 2018/2019. Understandable given the time out of the game and lack of a VFL comp. His goal scoring isn't high about 20 p.a so while he is a live wire with pressure he doesn't do a lot of damage for a small fwd. It looks like he is surplus but he was a first round pick 3 years ago and a premiership player. A club would have to be very sure things like touch, vision, reaction time etc are still 100%. Don't like mentioning that but it is important to go into trades with eyes wide open.
  15. Feel for the guy. Very loyal. Reportedly helped the club with sal cap in recent years by agreeing to re-time his contract to the back end and now that they have to pay up they want him out. The kid has/had self declared mental health issues. Very callous of Coll if they don't consider that. If he has to go fine but it behoves them to ensure the way they handle the exit they don't do more damage.
  16. Maybe but good sportsmanship nonetheless.
  17. It seems Rich players deliberately did not attack Ablett's shoulder when he came back on. Also when they formed the guard of honour for him to walk through each and every player removed their premiership medals. Respect appropriately shown on and off the field. Don't like Rich but credit where credit is due.
  18. The 'Rumour' thread a reference to 5 years - bit long imv given his age and unless there were conditions re injury or other triggers.
  19. 5 years to Ben Brown would be a surprise. Makes him 33 at the end of his contract. Hopefully there would be triggers for last year or two.
  20. Why are umpires wearing yellow shirts and black shorts with Richmond playing...? Terrible.
  21. Love anyone who wears the red and blue ??
  22. Re the bolded part. The good guys? Not if we play them out of position or select then omit them until they get so frustrated they ask to move. There are some on the trade table that fall into this category. Hopefully, it doesn't happen to Brayshaw, Harmes and a couple of others who looked 'out of favour' this year. It could be better for the culture to cut the 'out of favour' ones lose. Less potential for disruption among their mates and other players.
  23. Sydney have a different game plan to us. More man-on-man and less zone. Longmire tends to use his sweepers to get the ball out of d50 rather than rely on the talls to get it out. So TMac's kicking wouldn't be such an issue.
  24. Can see the attraction for the Swans. Port seem very interested in Alir Alir and TMac has the flexibility to play his role: back, fwd, relief ruck.
  25. Looks like Beams will retire and strike a deal with Collingwood on the remaining two years of his contract. That should free up some decent sal cap space for: Pay DeGoey? Keep Treloar? Trade someone else in?
