  1. Missed out on coaches votes but has a much deserved Rising Star Nomination. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»
  2. Maybe, but lets make this thread about acknowledging Harvey as there plenty of threads to express disappointment with others.
  3. Methinks amidst all our angst about losses, Harvey's first game performance has gone under the radar. 26 disposals ( 3rd team best) @ 77% DE 15 contested possessions (team best) 6 clearances (team best) 5 inside 50 (team best) 365 mt gained (5th team best) 10 score involvements (equal team best) 1 goal All in just 66% game time. Imagine the damage he will inflict when he plays a full game. We just experienced our future and it will be worth going to games to watch him play. So just want to draw attention to his stunning debut.
  4. The idea of trading Oliver or Petracca let alone both of them beggars belief! Play the kids! Then what! Ponder this about our list: Players with 100-plus games: 14 Players with less than 50 games: 24 Only 8 players between 50 and 100 games. Who will do the heavy lifting around the midfield, set standards and take the heat while Kozzie, Windsor, Kolt, McVee, Langford, Lindsay etc learn the ropes and mature to the 100-150 game mark. It can't all be left to May, Max, Lever, Viney who will retire or have their own issues staying injury free to play out their contracts. Neither Oliver nor Petracca are at peak match fitness. Oliver had 18 months of not playing or limited in playing to AFL level. Petracca missed half a season, lost 7.5 kgs, moved heaven and earth to get his body back to an AFL level. It will take some time for them to get back to their best and I'm confident both will.
  5. For me it isn't the losses. It is the way we play/lose that worries. We are much better and have much better players than recent results show. The next 5 weeks will tell us where we are really at: Big challenge vs Geelong where my only hope is we play to our ability for 4 quarters. Then 4 winnable games. Even if we don't win them how we play will be the criteria. Two bad losses but I haven't given up hope of playing finals.
  6. That is really neat! Thanks.
  7. Thank you. That is what I feared. It suggests our stoppage method has two issues. Even if 1) we get first touch, which we no longer seem good at 2) we can't get it to someone on the outside. 1) seems partly because Max sadly, is no longer being able to jump well, which is not surprising given his leg and back issues in recent times. And our mids have become too reliant on him and not learnt to shark the opp ruckman whereas the opps shark Max. 2) seems because our mids just bomb it out by foot and they don't seem to handball it out much anymore. Whether it is because they panic or our method doesn't have players on the outside it is difficult to tell. Certainly opps have beaten us on the outside at stoppages for years as 12th in 2021 indicates. I think 1) and 2) is 'the method' Goodwin is referring to that they need to fix. In the past the quality of the players was enough to overcome deficiencies in method. That is no longer the case. I just hope coaches and players sort it out quickly.

  9. I just want to get our method right and get our confidence back. Do that and we avoid a 10 goal loss. Then we can go into the following month of 4 very winnable games: Ess, Freo, Tigers, Eagles before we are tested again vs Hawks, Lions, Swans. We just have to use those 4 games to get our method and basics right. Then que sera sera,.
  10. As Goodwin said yesterday the first thing to fix is 'the method' especially around stoppages. It is up to the coaches to find the best (methods) and up to the players to execute it. Disappointed we didn't do this well enough in the off season but I know we are no where near as bad as we look lately. We will bounce back, maybe not enough to win but enough to stop the 10 goal thrashings. And enough to get some confidence back. A constant video in the change rooms of rnd 23, 2021 should bring back good memories and inspire confidence.
  11. Could someone tell me: which stat shows first touch/possession at stoppage (not necessarily a clearance) which stat shows first possession after the above TIA
  12. Jack continually kicks to the opposition i50. That is far more dangerous if it was from HB especially when our players have started to move forward of the ball to get an overlap chain going. Easy goals for opp. His fwd would play off him all the time. Again easy goals for opp. And who would he be better than: McVee, Bowey, Salem, Windsor, Rivers? The suggestions are like trying to 'hide' him where he does least damage. That is very sad.
  13. Not what the edit of prior posts is for but very funny and not trueπŸ˜‰
  14. I don't think people change a quoted poster's words. What they do is highlight particular parts by underline, 'bold' or take irrelevant parts out of the quoted post. To clarify the poster's original post remains as written eg see the orginal BBO post quoted/adjusted. Hope you are keeping well, deeve
  15. Jack was still contracted so there was no need to extend the contract at all let alone add 3 years to 2025. Our position should have been the same as Oliver, Petracca and Kozzie: Jack in under contract he is staying.

I'm sure they are talking but I doubt it is about sacking a coach, it is a big step to sack a premiership coach with nearly 2 years on his contract when there is no CEO in place and a 'lame duck' GM Football.
  17. Deeve, hate to tell you the ability to edit a post you are quoting has always been there.
  18. Disgraceful comment. Spineless? he had a near fatal injury playing for our club. He carried the club in most games last year before being injured. The club that made him a star, eh?. You mean the guy that got us a premiership, right?. Forget the NSM. He got 10/10 BnF votes from each of the 4 Demon coaches for the GF. If you were there today you must have missed seeing how much he cares. He didn't give up today - many others did.

Folks, Goodwin isn't going anywhere. Our off field leadership is in no-man's land, virtually non-existent: caretaker president no CEO GM Football whose days are said to be numbered. No one is going to make a decision on the coach. They say 'a fish rots from the head'. Well we don't have an effective 'head' right now. Eventually the lack of leadership plays out on the field. More so, with what I believe is a misfit group of coaches.
  20. I truly believe the implementation of a modified game plan is the blind following the blind. Look at the coaching panel. 2 Defenders and 2 bull type midfielders. No ball movement coaches, no tactical experience, limited or no experience in different clubs. I'm not saying a coach needs experience in the area he is coaching. But surely as a collective they should have some experience in the intended game plan. Someone needs to take the conceptual game plan and break it down position by position, player by player until each understands their own role and that of teammates. I'm not seeing that. We are playing like brown's cows and I put it down to poor implementation and communication of the game plan. imv we didn't recruit the coaches we needed.
  21. I'm glad he didn't use the four letter word starting with L ! The players sure didn't show much love toward him or his grand plan. Nor to each other. I was proud of the team in week 1, gave them a mulligan last week; today they were abysmal 😭.
  22. Has anyone been brave enough to listen to Goodwin's press conf. Had to pour🍷before tuning in ... Btw, I am very angry which is not something I experience too often in any part of life.
  23. I made a few bold predictions in the Game Day thread. They were all wrong!!! Except one: that Matty Rowell needed to be minded. He wasn't. He ran free clocking up 13 clearances, 36 possessons, 7 tackles etc etc etc. Why oh why did we not put someone on him. It was depressing watching him just waltz out of the centre with no one near him setting up play down the corridor. FGS if this humble fan who knows little about football can identify Rowell as the danger man why could our coaches not! The only good thing about he game is it was easy to get a seat on the train and arrived home in daylight! Well, Langdon and Langford deserve special mentions.
  24. LOL...so was mine ... meant to be a play on words ... We seem to have our humour antennas out of sync lately ...
