MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2026
@george_on_the_outer Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. I found a way to copy the posts into this thread.

2026 Predictions
Ditto ❤️💙 We only need to finish 10th to play 'Finals'. That is about 11 games. People forget that our premiership team had about 10 players with less than 50 games. We have enough expereince in every line to help the kids. Select 23 healthy and hungry players each week and watch them shine!

MATCH SIM: Friday 6th February 2026
Thanks. Was hoping for next week as can't go tomorrow. Anyone know if the club is live streaming it. North are doing that with theirs.

Tomorrow or next week?

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 4th February 2026
Sadly, the JV situation will become an 'own goal'. We extended his contract in 2024 for 3 years on top of the 1 year he had left. This isn't hindsight. His injuries were well known and there was no need to rush as several of us pointed out at the time. He is contracted to the end of 2028 on a sizeable contract and on his current injury/preseason it is hard to see him playing out the contract. We know that with King he won't be gifted games. Whether he plays a handful of games each year or we pay him out it will be a burden on our sal cap carrying his $ to 2028, Brayshaw $ to 2028 and Oliver $ to 2030.

MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2026
I called the club this morning and we have just ticked over 40,000 members which is where we were this time last year. The tally will go up on mfc website closer to the start of the season. @george_on_the_outer you might like to transfer the recent discussion in the 2025 thread to this one.

MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2025
St Kilda sold 2026 memberships for $7 in August last year, entitling them to 3 Home games. Not a bad deal but it distorts the numbers. They hope those members buy a full membership in 2027. The Saints have a 'fancy' very cheap deal nearly every year so they have high numbers. They can't afford not to; the optics of a massive drop in membership would not sit well. They have a pretty good deal of 4-games with reserved seat for $172 without a GFG. I'd probably still buy my Redlegs membership but some mfc fans who can't get to many games would find that offer very attractive. Their season GA reserved seat membership also doesn't have a GFG embedded in it. Unfortunately, all MFC reserved seat memberships have a GFG attached. Nice income for the club but it would put a lot of people off buying a membership especially in the current economic and club performance environment.

MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2025
From what I can tell mfc website doesn't show the figures. A call to the club will probably obtain the latest. @george_on_the_outer might oblige. The lack of update doesn't mean info is being hidden; just they are slow to update.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 14th January 2026
Many thanks Kev. I particularly like the bolded part!

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 14th January 2026
Thanks to all track watchers. Wouldn't mind some insight into how we exit the goal square. For a long time it has been 'kick it to Max' (or the ruckman) with some variation last year. Very predicable to and defend by op.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 12th January 2026
The issue isn't just 'long' bombs - the short ones do just as much damage. Players often were quick to kick the ball without looking and just 'bombed' it roughly towards f50 or i50. Consequently, our turnovers were awful all over the ground. Reduce all types of 'bombing' and things will improve dramatically.

Demons Appoint New Strategy Boss Eventually (Update)
Who needs Tom Morris when the AFL is leaking important club news! Poor form: "The AFL and Melbourne are currently on leave, but the Demons are expected to confirm the appointment before Christmas". What if we wanted a press conference etc!

Farewell Clayton Oliver
.Sadly, there isn't much footy IQ among our leaders. Love Max, Viney et al but that aspect of on-field management has been a real weakness for us for a long time. And as you have shown a very costly one. We practiced tactics for 8pt up/down with 3 minutes to go last pre-season. No learnings there!

Jake Bowey Re-Signs Until 2028
He will be a Free Agent. Delighted he has extended - would have been very happy if was for a few extra years, like Turner.

Separated at Birth
- Farewell Clayton Oliver
Smith, his father and Dillon are all Xavier alumni. The 'old school tie' network and all that!- Farewell Clayton Oliver
B-B-P. you don't really mean that do you? No amount of sal cap saving would be worth him having emotional and mental health lapses, let alone stuff up big time. It could be serious if he does. Wish him well and let the rest go.- Dawn of a new Era - Paul Guerra article 18.10.2025
They beat us by 6 goals two years ago. North did a job on us as well. Our bogey in recent years has been Essendon 🤮 I reckon every team thinks that on any given day they can beat any team. I'm curious who @rpfc left out. fwiw, I reckon the footy world is in for a big shock when we make the finals!- Dawn of a new Era - Paul Guerra article 18.10.2025
Which is the 17th?- AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
Could they then be our Elite, A-graders like Oliver and Petracca that people suggest we lack and build the team around them.- Farewell Christian Petracca
Very good point! It seems to me people just want to bag Trac - the 'Tall Poppy' syndrome at play!- Farewell Christian Petracca
No idea why people still go on about that. He said similar about GCS. And of course it is a job! Nothing wrong with that. No one anywhere, is wedded to their job! Why do people expect something else from footballers. Players know their AFL job has a limited life then they all move onto something else.- Farewell Christian Petracca
Well, it is rare for two players to win it unless it is a draw so of course he would he choose his mate first. He didn't mention Trac but he didn't mention any of his teammates either ... For context, didn't Max say GCS will probably win the next 10 flags so he couldn't wish the same for Trac ie Brownlow, implying Trac will have plenty of success anyway? Not sure why people assume anything positive said about Clarry is an implied criticism of Trac ...- Sullivan Robey
Cal's last phantom (23/9) had him at 6 but with 3 Academy players before him rated Robey at #3! We may need to do a deal with WCE! They have been reported willing to trade 1 or 2. Ess reportedly want one of those picks or the Tigers picks who 3 and 4.- Farewell Clayton Oliver
Max was a great friend and mentor to Clarrie. They had and will always have a special relationship. Nonetheless, he seemed fully supportive of him being traded for a fresh start. I doubt Trac or any other demon player would come close to what Max has with Clarrie. But I didn't take that as a slight on Trac. - Farewell Clayton Oliver
