  1. Bloody hell Nev. Your own understanding of your ability and honesty in representing it tells me you are the quality person who can be used by a similarly intelligent broad to help in that supplementary consultancy capacity, even if it's to oversee. I hope you or your company are able to contact the club offering your services. I also believe there will be plenty of opportunities for such alliances in the changed environment. Martian may have extrapolated into some interesting political directions but I think there is some reality in the recognition of that change. What development occurs will be impacted by the political impacts on the economy. We are sailing into a recession where there may be some real opportunities to pick up some partnerships by those areas surviving. We have seen a change to the wealth distribution and there are definitely pockets which are bulging and will be able to invest I need a properly presented project. i have previously asked about Port Melbourne and am encouraged by the detail others here have provided.Docklands is already identified as an expansion zone and it may be that there will be some openings. I note that There is a closed Uber site on one map and that could be just the first closed site. The MCFC has some powerful branding and image features which i a model sure you would recognise. We have a lot to offer an adventurous partner.
  2. A premiership team needs to start the season we'll continue winning with certainty and finish the job with wins entering the finals with confidence in game plan and abilities of individuals and team.
  3. Well I don't know it will interfere with our limited skiing schedule?.
  4. Good that you recognise Dan is the chairman of the National cabinet. They may have built the islands to be closer to the port of Darwin which the federal coalition government has handed over to them.I find it even more amusing that governments cogratulate themselves and brag about the "free trade agreement" they broker with a controlled economy. You really couldn't write better comedy than the rubbish our governments at all levels are presenting to us at the moment.
  5. I remember we would grandly announce a five year plan every three years.
  6. Anyone been to the Ron Barassi senior park? seems like plenty of kids amenities and a soccer field among other features including pavilion.. Any room for a footy club?
  7. Was the line through Murphy reserve or alternative sites. The international kart track and the gun club seem to have found some room down there around Todd road.
  8. Thanks Jack. i do believe your right on Punt road, even Richmond understand the significance of their home base. Who put a line through Port Melbourne and why. The MCG is now too compromisedbut a new Melbourne centre at Fishermans bend could be built and branded around the MFC rich history.
  9. Yes I also agree with you.re "volunteers by themselves", and the effort undertaken by them. My intention is to recognise that effort. Money is available for executive lunches and privileges for example, examination of the tasks, the value of the performing of those tasks does need some debate. It was acknowledged after the fact that firefighters needed some recompense although I believe the actual undertaking of this pronouncement was somewhat sporadic. Perhaps if the true cost of the firefighting and the damage avoided included a true cost for the volunteers efforts more examination of mitigation including management of the environment would happen. its like the debate about valuing and paying for domestic duties which are not included in productivity figures but let's not go there on this forum. Would like to meet and discuss during half time or whilst celebrating a win. Go Dees
  10. If the bushfires taught us nothing else, we cannot rely on volunteers. The response to the virus did not come about through volunteer involvement. volunteers may be well intentioned and even well credentialed but if there is a necessity for a role it is best achieved by appointing the correct person and paying them for their output..
  11. If Richmond move we should take over the Punt road site and train on the G
  12. Again Port Melbourne is an emerging community precinct that can be easily incorporated into an elite trading facility.
  13. Casey has all the features of the Waverley project of the AFL. It is in the expanding population zone and does have potential for expansion. while the MCG area is our traditional home it has too many limitations. Thats why I would like to see some more advanced commentary on Port Melbourne. A mix of private property which may now be more economically available and open space which can be incorporated. An opportunity to invest less with the promise of stimulation.
  14. I agree with what you are saying but I think that's a fail for the coach. He should have said this is the last game you will get. We owe the eagles for the humiliation we have had since that defeat over here. you are better than that. You are better than them. Get out there and humiliate them. If the coach can't rev the side up in these rare times how is he going to do it week after week. i like Goody and hope he can prove me wrong. Get it done Goody Go Dees!!
  15. I think they're still hanging off sheeps behinds.
  16. This is great news I hope it's true. What an incentive to the coach and players. This is what the football world thinks about you. Are you gonna prove them right or are you going to go out there and beat your opponent, join your teammates , beat the opposition and stick it right up em. oh maybe that's been used before. Did it have any success?
  17. Yeah, I had plenty of time for Pedersen. A mate (North supporter) said he was under-utilised at North and we had got a good one. He trained well, changed his style and seemed to really add to the squad. The controversy of him ducking his head seemed to define him, although that incident was grossly misrepresented. He played Casey and wherever told but could never seem to secure consistent selection in the ones. He always seemed to have a positive approach and was never critical. Seemed to have a great attitude. Always seemed to play with intensity and I reckon he added to the team but the coach was not convinced i regret he did not play more but he retired well and I certainly think he can hold his head high. He gets plenty of respect and admiration from me.
  18. He has chosen to close his borders for incoming teams. He could have chosen to have all players tested and any with virus to be isolated. He can choose to deny his state involvement in a national competition. Maybe there is no economic advantage for being in the national competition in which case he can organise his own competition. i thought we were all in this together.
  19. Crocs are inappropriate footwear at most times They do not provide appropriate support for feet and can cause kneeand leg problems. Given our recent history with foot injuries our players should be very conscious of the importance of footwear at all times.
  20. Hope you exempt demonland from that ruling Moom.
  21. First thing would be to ask the players and only include those that want to win. Anyone not interested would need bloody good reason. But I tend to agree with Earl that the hub idea may be irrelevant.
  22. Thais Bing for a European view. it truly is a global pandemic and it does appear outcomes (deaths ) are really variable. I have been saying the term cases really says nothing as the variables between data collection and cultural and societal practices is enough to make modelling useless. We still have little information on actual depth of the problem as we have no idea how many people had mild symptoms and have never reported as a case. It is also amazing that we have had few reports of transmission from supermarkets and hardware stores which are open . A sizeable proportion is related to the one boat Border Force failed to stop and health workers who are front line workers who were so devoted they failed to isolate some when they had symptoms. its certainly a tricky business. I have proposed that we in Australia can perhaps create Economic Activity Zones, where controlled activity can be formed around a centre with a major health centre and accommodation for isolation if necessary. This is similar to a hub but needs all services and support operating within the Zone with careful testing of anyone moving into the zone. Perhaps I've been isolated too long myself. They say mental health issues are increasing.
  23. Thanks for comment DJ. Not sure that I agree with myself at the moment. Find myself yelling at the TV and some of the comments. It's good to be able to find refuge in the occasional replays that are highlighted by a knowledgable demonland population. We have some way to go apparently. But as I look at the empty streets in Beechworth and see the Beechworth Bushrangers being unable to train when there is absolutely no indication of the virus having been evidenced within our NE area is frustrating. If we increased our testing we might find that we are able to return to some normal activities.
  24. We are not immune. We are part of the world. However we are unique in that we have a border that we can control. We also have witnessed a very compliant community. We also have more dispersed population with discrete centres of density. With our cultural and social habits of close community relationships we also had internal tracking. But most importantly we had a health system which was also dispersed and with a culture of collegiate and community commmunication. We also had a more egalitarian population with less vulnerable and unsupported sectors. While our health system had been allowed to be degraded and was considered under resourced it was still way ahead of every other country. The virus was/is a health issue and that is where we should have concentrated responses. That lockdowns and distancing were adopted from that expert advice was another factor in our success. But the economic impacts are not all caused by the virus. These impacts are the consequence of government action. The politicians have chosen to close down economic activity and have caused confusion through contradictory action. Why a hairdresser and even supermarkets are exempt is unfathomable. How many transmissions have come from these sources. The social changes being undertaken by the government are economic decisions they are not caused by the virus. We could have invested more heavily in testing, tracking isolating and treating without closing down every community and every ectivity. The government is using his crisis as a huge data collection exercise. With an approval for a huge budget allocation which it will be able to allocate as easily as sports grants this is an opportunity for this government to undertake and entrench ideological action. It is not the virus causing this it is the deliberate political practice. We definitely need to improve our health system. We need to increase our testing and tracking procedures. Education needs greater coordination and consistent practice. Perhaps a health nurse in schools might be a better investment than a chaplain. Our Child care and aged care systems need more resources. As the drought, bushfires and now this pandemic have shown we need a strong central government. This does not mean we need dictatorial and undisputed power application. We do not need more division and less government we need a more representative structure. Border closures and the current divisions of state populations is not required. We are all in this together and yet we are creating and celebrating in many cases the differences. While we have time to reflect deeply on these matters we can also appreciate the role that sports has played in our society. Perhaps as a demons supporter I have become too inured to defeat to lead an uprising.
