Anywhere in the eight will do.. As is often said finals are a new season. While I believe we have a squad that includes team makeups that allows us to beat every team and I believe we can beat every team on the way to win the flag perhaps a loss along the way may be ok, just to relieve the pressure and restore underdog status with commentators. Doing a Bradbury ain't so bad if you end up with the prize. That said we must beat the dogs. its back to the coach to get the selections, structures and attitude right. I hope he is reinforcing their winning state and building confidence.

Not sure why you say rubbish. i agree with you that he is underrated, I think wizard reflects that. It's difficult to pick his game apart coz it is such high standard, usually fast and reactionary. I still reckon he gets no protection from the umpires, which shows how good he is. I said he works in the engine room and that is meant as a high compliment. i did say he sometimes doesn't put on pressure but I acknowledge and maintain it is because he is often recovering from the high ntensity work he has done., and I only said that and all other comments as to why he is underrated by opposition supporters. personally I don't care what opposition supporters say it's more important that we recognise he's a star and that our coaches look after him and use him well coz he is one of the significant part of the team that can have prolonged success for the next ten years. That's why your right mentioning his age. -
Always thought Sam had potential. Only just beginning to reach it. He was slightly built and needed to grow into his body. Some can be done in gym but contesting with May and Lever helps timing and positioning. Weid can become a Tom Hawkins type using his speed and new found strength through timing. Better delivery and support helps. It was great that he performed against the Pies, I hope we are calling his name for years as he becomes part of our premiership teams. We also need to have some replacements to ensure he gets rested when appropriately.

Yep and doesn't it improve results. Hope the coach and other players reinforce this and continue to maintaining n the momentum to success. His slight build compared to others is deceptive. He is a hard nut and strong enough to extract. I do think that his effort is outstanding although it sometimes seem to fatigue him which reduces his defensive work. Needs to be managed with time in the engine room moderated. Significant part of our mid field team strength. -
Well done DD. Bet your happy to share the love and the cost today.

I think the disinterest on this thread has infected the coverage as no free to air out here in NE Vic. Youd reckon there would be enough Pies supporters to get coverage on one of the three 7 outlets to out rate Pawn stars or similar dross on at this time.

Thanks for making me think about this a bit more. i guess I see Gus complements Oliver. Viney complements Oliver. Gus and Viney don't complement each other as both work best in the same position, but they do it differently. and your right Gus breaks away more where Viney is in the struggle.
-
You're right Viney is more crash and bash. Bradshaw is more skilled at getting through the pack, can avoid tackles and stays upright while Viney bulldozes through. And yes Bradshaw is able to get it on the outside while Viney does not seem to. The point of similarity is they both are most effective in tight in the pack and can get the ball out, but Gus is probably more sophisticated.

Oliver is the pinball wizard. Gets plenty of hard ball and loose ball with his quick reflexes. Doesn't always damage with his disposal and goes unnoticed coz he doesn't hold the ball long quick disposal his forte. Often the one two tree four links are lost at another point in the trail so not as damaging. He also doesn't shepherd and jogs off the ball so can allow space for opponents.Nouestioning his work rate which is consistently forged in the boiler house but he gets no release with umpire protection so can fatigue and be less effective. Love him and when he is on we are a lot better. The coach should use him as a barometer. When he's good he's very good when he's off he should be taken off and rested. -
As stated previously. Have a great day. You are representing us who cant be there. Cheer loud and proud GO DEES. WITH PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM

Brayshaw amnd Viney both play a similar style of see ball, get ball, hit the pack hard with timing to be where the ball is and give off quickly. They both have disposal issues, poor kicks because they are usually under immense pressure or off balance. But both usually seem to get the ball deeper into the forward line. Unfortunately this is often in between our attacking forwards and our deeper forwards. Oliver is a little more static an quick with disposal better vision although still prone to dispose to an unprepared teammate. His disposal appears a little shorter and often involves return and pinball type movement with an uncertain release point. Trac combines the bullocky attack and also the release point as he spins and uses strength to get out. Seems to play a little more outside, Seems to now be a little more balanced when he releases making him more effective. All other midfielders play a role as participant with these main ball getters and can be included or released when available. All midfielders need to try and create space for eventual release. Tackling and bumping opposition, or shepherding teammates to allow space and improve the disposal on release. Forward delivery is affected by forwards pressing too close or being too deep for the eventual release which varies according to the midfielder who effects it. All the players are valuable, all have skill and all are elite level. The coach needs to use them individually and in tandem in structures and patterns that utilise their skills. They maybe all don't play play every minute or even every game, they play when the opposition structures or patterns dictate or when injury impacts ability. We are well placed and should not be even discussing losing any of them they are all young and can form the nucleus with Gawn and others the mid field that can give prolonged success.
