Im a redleg member. Im the loud one behind the camera. Its a great place to watch the game apart from my strident support which often moves those in front of me. I was a guest when I ceased my membership when I first moved up here in 2000. Changed to country member but I always went with mates in redlegs. Renewed membership in 2020 when I went more regularly. I still regard my membership as donation as despite my best efforts I just cannot get to every game. The membership team is great and I can usually arrange a guest ticket at the last moment if my friend decides to come. Its always a great day as you get to the Hassett room to join with other dedicated supporters.

Dont entirely disagree, but I also think if you look at the top teams they were all well muscled as well as having pace. Only a few need explosive pace but endurance is now even more significant. A few bulls to break packs are important also and i think thats the skill of the coach in rotating players off the bench to initiate or respond to the tempo of the game

Good comments and with the pace of the game there is now a greater incentive to implement a new churn or washing machine strategy where players are constantly on the move running forward to receive the ball and then returning to run back to a defensive position to run forward again. This constant rotation would be especially effective against zone defence as runners can move into space rather than into contests. A good mix of youth and older players must be used to use the squad best while resting and matching hardened bodies when required against specific opponents. I have promoted these action sfor some years and hope KIng will introduce some different tactics and strategies than those Goody seemed to adhere to.

Hey Red. Do you have any deeper insight into MRC actions than reported in the Age Saturday. I found the reports of the payouts and financial situation enlightening, also the bulk payment of memberships, (which resonated in a familiar way to previous MFC action). But more significantly the final sentence referring to board member Tanya Fullarton who said her "support for the SGM was entirely about protecting an important racing venue". While I find that admirable in intent in some senses, does this philosophy identify a concern that MFC could be compromised if there is any partnership or alignment with MRC. I also noted the significant reliance of MRC on gambling income. Are the alignments you have identified in joint membership arrangements compromised by the MFC stance on gambling.

So I think Max looks at the squad and sees 2 significant players gone. He lived with Clarry so is very close to his concerns. He has literally and figuratively fed him and understands what is required. He must believe that he can be replaced within the squad by others lifting, and maybe more aware than others of how change needs to be affected. Petracca was also certainly a significant part of the premiership group but as stated the 2025 Patracca is not the 21 Petracca. Again I believe he changed but sees his role as a job, he may not be the game breaking Norm Smith big time player that a premier team needs. Again Max would be closer to him than most, and closer to the squad to understand who might step up to replace him in a new structure and game plan. Im happy to go with Max. There's always the allure of father son continuity for a club. Ashcrofts at Bears and SOS at Carlton are the two that spring to mind. Of course we have Viney and Barassi as successes .Stretch a recent not quite. AFL participation is a difficult career and subject to many influences. As has been stated Taj has played 21 games which is more than many. Was he given enough support/ opportunity? Only he and the club can know. Its a pity for him and I hope he has alternative options to pursue. I also hope he does not leave with bitterness and can speak positively of his experiences at the club. Would be good to get some insight into his feelings, perhaps he could be invited into Demonland podcast etc.

So Olympic Park too small for MFC purposes as well. Hope Caulfield gets announced quickly and meets all our needs with no interference from racing industry. I appreciate its real advantages especially with Public Transport and the space to incorporate our playing and administrative groups at a single site. Access by members will certainly be improved.

It should be easy to stack their own voting. Then they can move on the Brownlow. They already control the AFL and the tribunal.

Perhaps I could move my advocacy of Fishermans Bend to Collingwood, convincing them that a move to a greenfield site with plenty of potential for a purpose built training, admin, corporate ,retail, entertainment centre, part of the facilities for 70,000 new residents, could be an idea that the government department now responsible (Dept of Transport) might find attractive as adestination point for a new tram line and potential for enhanced public transport access. A bold, progressive and dynamic idea that a club like Collingwood with its large membership and its influence of AFL could undertake.

I reckon you do a great job and appreciate all your efforts. It isnt easy to keep it current and sort the rumours from the facts. I have found that you always seem to get it right or amend as soon as any errors are noticed. Keep up the good work.

Just a casual and very uneducated comment is that JVR seemed to have arms chopped and get pushed under the ball often by opponents. He also seemed to fly at the ball only to spill the mark. He also seemed to be penalised when playing with vigour, while opponents were allowed to treat him with vigour. I reckon he could do with some strength and conditioning to make position and hold position.. and maybe with that positioning an awareness of where the umpires are, oh and some acting classes. Hawk may be able to give him some hints on how to exploit his presence in the contest.

Strength and conditioning are as important as desire and intent.

dont know much about Rogers or the real value of picks but agree that we ho;d the upper hand. Tracc is a recognised game breaker, NS winner and still high Brownlow votes for our club. He is on a contract that recognises his value to the club. He has said its his job and if he comes to work for us he will continue to give his best and will prove his worth. It is his brand. Same with Oliver who really values his game and has said he owes the club. We need to keep them both and King can use them to get the best from them. They improve any side which is why others want them.......They just cant afford them.

The test match game shows how far we have progressed. Andy and demonland have allowed us all to enjoy a game of a different technology. I was around when computers were invented and helped inject them into every aspect of life. The systems were big, clunky and required teams of highly and uniquely skilled programmers, technicians and operators. I dont know how Andy and the team maintain DLand but am forever grateful that they do. Their dedication and passion is only matched by the many contributors, Special thanks to the trackwatchers. Hope springs eternal and while our fortunes on the field are unknown we have no need to hope with Dland, it remains in so many ways a consistent, igniting stirring and calming so many emotions. Ive said on other threads and the picture leading this shows thay his muscle development is not as pronounced as players playing a similar role. Get him in the gym and build the strength and bulk hell be ok. Hes still a kid.

I agree with a lot on the thread, especially gym work. Stand Roo and Jeffo next to Gallup Logan and other teams forwards Dear excluded and they are all well muscled and look more solid than ours. A bit of bulk and strength would help. I also know that there are many different body types and all are needed, but most importantly they need to ne matched up on appropriate opponents every week. I hope the coach can use the players better this year.

I guess Id be happier if he reiterated Christian is a once in a generation player and further said as a strong club we will be working with him to make sure our club is better with him in it. I believe a strong club uses every resource available. A strong club will get the best from an individual and will use the player to achieve short and long term success. You dont give your opposition resources that you should use. It may take some hard conversation between the coach and the player as to what and how success is defined. In AFL team success is greater than the individual and this must be considered before Christian goes anywhere. Certainly if he comes back to the club it would require some pretty strong argument from him about why we let him go.

The Age article quotes KIng as saying he "cant wait to meet" players coaches etc. And yet he is involved in the Geelong finals campaign so we are, and must all wait. Hope communication can be improved . I am very happy with the appointment and dont expect him or the club to reveal the plans, strategies, programs, Etc that he will bring. I will certainly judge him on results and hope he can get the results from our list that is possible. Strength and confidence are two issues that must be addressed.
