  1. Gawn was streets ahead of Spencer as a ruckman and should have had development put into him at Casey, instead he was played more as a forward and only had real game time in the ruck when Spencer was injured. I remember watching Gawn towel up Hudson, a good experienced senior ruckman when he had the opportunity v the doggies 2's team at the time. It would have been Gawn's first season. Whilst ruckmen take time to develop, you can see the special ones early on. Max just needed to want to do it and thankfully for us the penny dropped and the opportunity came under Roos.
  2. Max was also handicapped by a dumb FD who insisted on playing Spencer ahead of him in the ruck at Casey and thought they could make Max into a key forward. Whenever Max got a clear run in the ruck at Casey he showed he had the goods back then.
  3. Sorry, but you are wrong again...
  4. Would agree with you on Bedford but really stepped it up a notch today in the VFL game...if he can put a few more like that together he may have a future.
  5. We played luxury footy early, our mids in particular dropped back into some old habits & it didn't help our forwards. No May also cost us some drive from the back half... ...and the Hawks made it a scrap but we eventually burned them off. Having said that, I think you are probably right. On todays game (VFL & AFL) Weid probably gets the nod over Brown.
  6. I think Fritsch & Melk are vying for the same position & Fritsch wins that one... Melk doesn't do enough these days to give the team coverage that Jordon & ANB do. M Brown might be the unlucky one but I can see us going in unchanged.
  7. Looked a bit rusty still...I think he comes in for the North game if he's ready.
  8. I would hope not...
  9. Add Rayner, Rowel & Ugle-Hagen to that list for now, the curse of number one... Whitfield is struggling to get on the park. Also Scully & Kreuzer were cut down by injury. So, of the 2000's the first 3 had good careers... 2000 Riewoldt, 2001 Hodge, 2002 Goddard. ...but since then the pickings from the pick are hit and miss. Luck still plays a big part.
  10. We got the good one...

Only joking 'Pennant' Agree, he has been a champion player no doubt. His record shows it...
  12. Agree, we need to find another like Langdon. Not the same type but a player who is on the cusp of going to the next level who is not going to cost the world in trade and money value. Ash could be that player.
  13. I don't know what implications you are talking of. The only implication of this thread is that Kate Roffey will be the new President. What's that got to do with political correctness??? Call me stupid.
  14. Langdon - All Australian Wingman
  15. Dursma did a knee and they were going on about a head injury. Sure he hit his head but he was lying on the ground holding his knee...
  16. The commentary team keep talking up the mullet man but to me he looks like he might have a good career in the SANFL...skills on tonight's showing not to AFL level.
  17. We sure were...nothing was going to inspire that team to a win. ...but your comment inspired an ironic laugh.
  18. If he's getting that he's getting way overs...
  19. I wouldn't want any of those players if it meant losing Oliver...particularly Kelly who is grossly overrated. He should have taken the cash on offer at North as he's not going to get another like that.
  20. It must be a bit sad for you 'Dr'...all the talk of Goodwin's position being in jeopardy if we go 0 & 4, 0 & 5... It was almost like you and some of the others were hoping for us to start poorly. Getting rid of Goodwin seemed to be the narrative when we inevitably failed. Now it's the old we've had an easy draw story...preseason Freo were picked as big improvers, the Saints top 4 and GWS a solid final 8 aspirant after a disappointing 2020. It's still too early to say where any team sits this season, probably North are the only one that appear to be headed for the spoon. Well we're 3 and 0 sitting top 4. I'll take that, any win's a good win. Don't let your dislike of Goodwin and a need to be proven right sour a good start to the season. Enjoy!!!
  21. Pretty sure he's talking Heritier not Rod...still not particularly appropriate.
  22. I think one of the big differences is that St Kilda have not hesitated to own the problem and apologise. Collingwood seem to bury their heads in the sand and are if my recollection is correct yet to apologise to Heritier for example.
  23. Yep, I think they might have relaxed the tag...he seemed to be out on his own a bit after the first Q...the only time I noticed O'Connor with him then was at the stoppages.
  24. Mustn't have been a hard tag on Mitchell as often he was nowhere near him... If they put a hard tag on Oliver it just leaves Trac & Viney free and I would back them in against the Cats mids particularly with Danger still out and an ageing Selwood.
