MFC GF Celebration Coming in December

I find it hard to believe that he would recover his cost on this. I don't see how he will draw the numbers required to break even let alone make a profit. Particularly with the club running a big event at the 'G'. I hope the players are being advised properly and have their fees up front.

		Re sign Choco too

PJ...probably the most profound in recent times. Norm Smith had a reasonable impact. ...back to recent times Todd Viney, Roos, Goodwin, Burgess. It's not just one thing or one person but PJ got the ball rolling.

		The comeback of draft smokies?

I think Jake Bowey, if not a smokey was probably the steal of the draft. He's been the best performed player from that draft to date. Having AA teammates around hasn't hurt. I would think if it wasn't for COVID he would have gone a lot higher in the draft and we would have missed out on him. Another one of these would be good.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised

Can you imagine a midfield with Trac & Clarry in it???

		rpfc's Schadenfreude Corner

Ok, so what is Wells record of recruiting (not father son picks) good to great players in this pick range (2nd & 3rd rounders)? Is his recruiting mastery another of those AFL myths? Seems the Cats have had a big leg up from Father/Son and trading along with some good first rounders early days. Having a look through 'rpfc' original post, over the last 10 years Stewart was a great get...Kelly. Very dangerous indeed, an AA defender and a mid who's no longer there. So one player.

		Dwayne's First Picked 18

Interesting...Langdon runs harder than any wingman in the game. Forward and back, so I wouldn't consider him just forward running. One I would take is Jack Macrae on a wing...he really is a natural wingman playing more as a mid now.

		- Hawks on the Slide: How Mitchell is making life hard for himselfThey have a lot of fair-weather supporters, no doubt about that. Couple that with a less than favourable (as in time spots) fixture and see how you go then Jeff.
- Hawks on the Slide: How Mitchell is making life hard for himselfSeems like they wanted to much in a market that didn't have a lot to give. If they were smart they would have realised this and not tried to trade contracted players, who in reality didn't want to go. Then they wouldn't have had to deal with the pain and heartache of disaffected players & fans. ...and if they really wanted to move someone on they could have at least set a fair price and or let the player explore his options, not try and railroad them interstate. ...and also to expect a 30yo with a bad back has any kind of currency, particularly first round currency... They're dreaming.
- AFL Trade PeriodFrom what I've seen of him I don't rate him at all. I reckon he was a liability in their forward half and not much use in the ruck. ...but I haven't seen a lot of him.
- Dwayne's First Picked 18He's (Kelly) certainly not worth the coin that was on offer. ...and full commitment wasn't on offer in their finals performance again. Salem is a beauty and still very underrated, his GF performance would have opened some eyes. ...maybe not Mathew Lloyd who just see the baby face (looks can be deceiving) and misses the uncompromising tough, contested work he does. Jack Macrae found that out the hard way pretty early in the first Q. I'm going with the player that stands up when it's on the line...he doesn't let you down.
- Dwayne's First Picked 18Which game???
- Dwayne's First Picked 18As I said on the Salem thread, I would take him ahead of Kelly. Like a few in the overrated society Kelly doesn't get down in the trenches when the going is hot. Nice footballer when allowed, nice doesn't win Premierships...
- 2021 Player Reviews: #3 Christian SalemPlayed with injury concern a lot of the year otherwise would have been AA...still better than Rich but who cares. Salem a brilliant contributor. Forget the pick swaps and other players, head to head I would pick Salem ahead of Kelly. A proven finals, big game player against a one that has so far faltered.
- Welcome to Demonland - Pick 17Bowey was a pretty decent consolation...
- Centre Bounce Analysis from Grand FinalNot always...the centre bounce at the 22 mins on this video shows a couple of things. Jackson and Oliver have hands on the same ball. Jackson is smart enough to know that Oliver has some momentum and is moving forward so leaves the ball. Then Jackson spreads back to cover space and give an extra option. The on ball team have really refined their team game now. My biggest criticism in the past was not using each other and playing more as individuals than a team. They really put that to bed this year culminating in a superb GF performance.
- Centre Bounce Analysis from Grand FinalBrett Lovett was a master of this... ...getting his arms up and away from the tackle then giving off the ball.
- Nev Jetta Joins the MagpiesYou can't keep all your favourite sons and in reality it's better for them to get out and experience other clubs. Great news for Nev, times are tough out there and these jobs are limited with the soft cap squeeze.
- Dwayne's Most Watchable in 2022Robbie Gray has been one of my favourite non Melbourne players to watch for a while now but I think he's done & I can't think of anyone who would get me through the gate.

- Welcome to Demonland: Luke DunstanThey've targeted players well...and not been scatter-gun like the Saints and Carlton. I guess if they're interested (it's only rumour at this stage) in Dunstan, as I say I don't really see it but they will have good logic to back it up. I'm happy to make our late 1st rounders, 2nd rounders winners...if we get more Fritsch, Rivers, Bowey types then the rookie picks don't really matter.
- Welcome to Demonland: Luke DunstanI don't see it but...you have to trust the list management crew. They've got a good record. That's good to say, isn't it?
- AFL Trade PeriodWithout a lot of exposed form it might be best to hold future picks this year...unless we have a specific target.
- Proved them wrongYou can even see BB there at times...they all cover a lot of ground.
