7 are wasting their money covering live football, they should have paid for replay, crowd and bench shots and left the football to someone who actually want to cover what's going on. I swear I'm going to throw something at the tele if we miss any more live action tonight or if the producer looses the f..in ball again. Good game though.
-
I do
-
Pity that Taggert is injured again but will keep an eye on Sheahan, uses the ball well.
-
Good on him. If you are rebuilding a club it's no use taking up a place in the side with someone who is not going to be with you. It would be a different proposition if you were a realistic final chance but they are not.
-
I think Mick Malthouse could be used more as he is on top of the current game and very much the same for Cameron Ling, you can see the respect he gets from and gives to the players in his boundry role but he would be a world ahead of most of those masquerading as expert commentators (Luke Darcy a joke for one, Kingggy, Lynch...........................).
-
I think most probably don't rate him also but as Kerry Packer once said you only get one Alan Bond in a lifetime. Some coaches think they are the one that can turn around the fortunes of a talented but wayward footballer eg. Voss Fev. I would be happy to see Col playing good football at another club but only if the trade is playing better football for us.

I'm not sure you are right on this. Unfortunately our senior players were not premiership players to the level of Kerr, Embley, Glass and Cox. They were not taking spots from kids because unfotunately for WC they were injured for a great deal of time. Getting that quartet back fully fit along with a new game plan and the development of their younger players puts them back in the game.

No it's all I had time to respond to before heading out. You can't equate Chris Newman with the CEO of a football club, it's not like for like. He doesn't make the key decisions that effect the overall health of a club. Some people make a good argument for Cam Schwab some against, all I know is that a rebuild has come unstuck and I'm not sure I want the same people in charge when it looks like we are rebuilding again. Mike Sheahan thinks we need to look at the admin side of the club and given what happened over the last couple of years I think we should. Neeld shouldn't have to cop all the flack, he has been at the club for how long now? 8 - 9 months.
-
So far it has taken us 48 years and still counting.
-
No, I think he can be clearly judged on the failure of the clubs rebuild and if that's not enough on his record of 30 years in the game being involved in finals football only 4 times. By the way he got us into the Energy Watch scandal in the first place, not hindsight but many on here were not comfortable with that sponsor in the first place. The replacement sponsors, well to use an old quote I think a drovers dog could have got them.

I guess we all read or at least heard about Mike Sheahan’s expose into the MFC. It really didn’t add anything new and for a professed supporter it contained no answers. I am surprised that I haven’t seen discussion about Mike coming up with some answers as to how he would fix the club during the 3AW pre game on Saturday. His basic points were · Changes needed to be made in administration and that Cameron Schwab should be replaced. · The club should find the replacement from within the AFL, the best young energetic talent available · Appoint the best recruiter available · Beef up the coaching panel with more successful people · Big changes to the list at seasons end Now most of these points have been made on this forum in one way or another but it is good to see him at least come out with a course of action rather than the previous said article that was just a re hash of the problems at the club. Comments like this from Cameron Schwab leave me cold… "What we're going through now as a football team, as tough as it is and as challenging as it is, is just an essential part of what we need to do to build a base that will give us some chance." We’ve been stuck in this for way to long (not going through now, still there) and to my mind the people responsible need to be moved on be they players, administrators, coaches or board members. The link is to a discussion of Mark Neeld by a 3AW panel but puts more heat on those responsible for the last few years, those that have made our club a laughing stock. It’s well worth a listen.. http://www.3aw.com.au/blogs/3aw-football-blog/media-too-hard-on-mark-neeld/20120525-1za12.html

He's just out of the game and comes from a club that had to build from the bottom up so probably a little more knowledgeable than David.
-
Has a lot of respect amongst the younger players, was a good move by GWS to get him to speak with the players after the game. but as has been said he is busy with business and may not have the time. Can always ask the question though.
-
He had a bloke called Gubby Allen helping him and the resources of the AFL.
-
I think Craig is in an ideal position now at the MFC, he is responsible for building people and according to Mak Ricciuto he was fantastic for the Crows players and making them better people in his time at Adelaide.
-
Yep, there is already a thread on this.
-
Probably not, but an experienced one will have a good feel of what is going on built up over a number of years. He will know of all the players in the system and some and whilst I respect your opinion in regard to Todd it is this that I think we will miss out on. Let's get Rendall, even in the short term, it is a critical draft and we need to have as much going our way as we can.
-
Trying to get there but I understand the frustration as I'm sure you do RPFC. I think we have a unique opportunity to pick up Rendall at least in the short term and should use it. The only real problem with with Todd is that I don't see that he has a total overview of recruits Australia wide over a period of time (from say early unders level) that would allow him to plot their development. He will have a fair idea of the Vic kids and whilst he would know some of the SA kids he hasn't been involved in that system for a few years now and has missed crucial time in the development of those kids and new ones coming through. Yes, we have scouts out and they will give good input but a someone with a real feel of the landscape over a period of time would be an invaluable addition to work with Todd.
-
Said similar on AW, will come back to this tonight when I get some time. I have a lot to say on this, it's just not acceptable.
-
Interesting that Garry said last night we should go after Rendall for the recruiting role. Surprised Grant Thomas who agreed of course. Let's see what happens.
-
I think you are wrong, just my opinion. Lets see in another couple of years how our midfield looks.
-
Don't believe the hype about Mitch, he picks and chooses too. A few weeks ago running with the filight I would estimate he pulled back to about 50% when the opposition player was coming the other way for a marking contest. Probably a good move that saved him from some cracked ribs but not the move of someone like a Selwood who would have gone at all costs.
-
Todd will have a lot of insight but if we could get Rendalls to add to it I think it would give us a better rounded approach to what is a very important draft. Getting input from a 17yo well...I guess, but I'm not sure how much you would take from it.
-
Good, now lets get on with growing our own. Draft in 3 quality mids, further development into Jones, Gysberts, Taggert, Grimes, Trengove, Blease, McKenzie and we are on the way.
