  1. Maybe not as set as last year and as has been stated they have no cards to deal anyway unless they want to give up a top liner.
  2. One of those rumours (a friends uncles brothers sisters gardener heard) but believe he is not that hot on Essendon anymore and besides as has been mentioned they don't look like they have much to offer unless it's players.
  3. I would have thought Pendelbury, Thomas or Murphy would have been offered a fair amount of $'sss. I couldn't see Scully as their first choice could you? at the end of the day maybe he was and he's gone and we move on with MItch, Viney and a couple of good draft picks. Let's see how we rate him by whether or not Jordie picks him up on Sunday. I think he may take Ward instead as he is more dangerous by foot and just about any other measure you can think of. Now he is being under paid if you judge by performance.
  4. Haynes is another one I would look at "Dee" may be lucky enough to pick him up around 12, very quick, versatile and over 190cm already. If we could pick up Viney with Vlastuin then someone like Haynes I think we would be well set.
  5. Spot on, it's really a matter of if we want him.
  6. Given that Boak is not under free agency, it is up to Port where he goes and they will do the best deal by them. If we want him we are in a good position to get him, a bit like the Mitch Clark deal. Do we want Boak and what should we pay? these are the questions.
  7. Jack is our first pick simple and he shows all the signs of being a very good player for our club. Some of you guys need to get a job in politics or writing spy thrillers with all the angles and manipulations suggested. What is really important now is that we use our compo picks wisely, there are some good kids in this draft and we need to get the pick of the crop.
  8. Spot on "Pennant" as I've just expressed in the said thread.
  9. Yep, Franklin at pick ? Selwood? Pendlebury? Swan? Sidebottom? number one aint it, look at the blue boys, look at us, it doesn't work. Build a team the more picks the better, don't limit us. Viney will be our first pick simple as that and he will be a good player ready to go, let's find another couple with our compo picks and see if we can jag another Howe or McDonald down the order and we are well on our way to building a team. Gary Ablett is the best player in the comp and it's not helping GC win a game.
  10. Saw their run and spread, saw them intercept from our poor decisions. So we need someone who is reputed to be slow and a poor decision maker, how does that work? This is not a Cale vote and I don't want to get into the merits but he is worth a lot more than a straight swap for Stevens.
  11. We will pick up some really good kids in this draft including Viney. I hope we get the selection process right, haven't heard anything more about Rendall joining the pies so we should still be pushing to get him on board even if it's just for this draft.
  12. Gysberts is not an outside runner, he is an inside mid with a footballers mentality (knows how to get the ball) not an athletes. He may not have the body yet but that's what he was recruited for. We need good decision makers and that is one of the big negs on Stevens.
  13. If Jamar persists with it then it has to be under instruction and there is a reason, it's just not working whatever it is.
  14. We have Couch who seems to have the same attributes not getting a game, McKenzie, Magner, Moloney, Bate, why do we need another and why would we give up anything for him?
  15. You would have to be joking, I'm not sure if this thread is serious am I missing something here.
  16. Just interested in your thinking here Jose . Why Plowman, do we need another defender when we are short of mids, what does he bring?
  17. I'm just telling you what the theory was, not if it works or not. It did but doesn't seem to be now, is that because of application or just an obsolete idea.
  18. Seems we have enough of this type already, no thanks.
  19. I think you are pretty much on the money with both of these posts "Jerry". The technique of dropping it at his feet is an old one that Hawthorn used in the Jeans/Joyce era with the idea being Jamar and the umpire would create a block. Now the AFL worked out that umpires were being used and getting run into so it's an expensive exercise to use the umpire in this way. Maybe it's past it's use by or maybe the application is not so good, if say Moloney takes the ball at Jamars feet then we should have someone running on to take the ball off him and that's what seemed to be the plan last week however Collingwood were aware and fed off us. With better awareness we either draw players to us and spread or if they are not coming at us block and break. We just don't have enough quality in there at the moment.
  20. I think Vlastuin or Toumpas maybe Stringer if he falls through with pick 4, we don't need a back (Plowman) at the mo we need a good mid. around Pick 13 the speed factor with Haynes or Simpson if he falls through. Maybe the Vic factor would steer me to Vlastuin ahead of Toumpas but I really like Toumpas as a player. A midfield with Grimes, Trengove, Jones, Howe, Viney, Vlastuin/Toumpas, Haynes, Blease and Taggert might be something to work with.
  21. I think Cam knew he was gone early on and was positioning for the best compo throughout the whole of last season.
  22. Damn, does that mean Scully will miss?
  23. Yeah, I expect that to happen but it's probably about time for him to learn his craft at the higher level.
