Just think Judd, even he couldn't win the game on his own tonight. Build a team, don't blow it all on one million dollar player. To my mind and I've stated it before it would be a big mistake. Collingwood know his value and are offering him what is right for their structure, I know we don't have a Pendlebury, Swan, Thomas but it is what we are pushing towards if we aren't we are looking at things in the wrong way. How are we going to keep these guys 2 or 3 years down the track when Eddie comes knocking with his check book and we are paying one man a million a year. It throws the balance out.

I thought that was pretty funny when I heard it, Derm does come out with some garbage at times. Kinggggy is good at this stuff too, he sprouts off stats to back his so called facts and if you do a check you find they are way off the mark. When I first heard Finey I thought he was some yob they dragged off the street, but after giving him a good listen I enjoy him too and find he is one of the more informed football people going around.

I get his point about us not blooding new talent going back to the familiar Dunn, Bate etc. but unfortunately for Greg he hasn't done his homework again. We recruited 4 players onto our senior list for this year, all but one, Taggert who is on the long term injury list. Clark and Sellar have been regulars, Tynan played the first game but has struggled with injury from then on. Of all the players on our senior list only Cook, Davis and Taggert (injured) have not played a senior game so his point about us not playing debutants does not hold water, we don't really have many left to play. I would like to see Cook get a game but the club want him to earn it, fair enough. He went on about Gysberts not getting a game but seriously he missed most of the pre season, did his ankle early in the season for Casey came back and broke his jaw within seconds of that comeback and is only just getting some match fitness. I want to see him in the senior team too but Denham needs to look at why he isn't, not just make unfounded statements. We rookied 4 players 2 will have played senior football by the weekend and the other 2 Williams and Sheahan are project players. We have recruited 4 players onto the main list and 4 onto the rookie list, 5 of the 8 have played, one is on the long term injury list and 2 are project players. At the end of the day though we are easy targets and Denham likes to take cheap shots, it's the same bloke who said Carlton wouldn't get within 12 goals of Collingwood last week. Carlton and Ratten were down so he took another cheap shot.

With the talk of his manager fielding offers from other clubs does anyone know if we have actually offered him a contract for next season. Maybe that's what they were looking for in the first place (his management), I haven't heard of an offer or ongoing contract talks, the club may well be holding back.

On the radar (afl.com) - under 18's prospects
rjay replied to jurrahcane's topic in Melbourne Demons
why Grundy, do we need another ruckman? Menzel, knee problems, family history, can play his brother can play but? We need quality mids, the discussion will come down to Wines,Toumpas maybe Stringer, Viney,Hrovat, Vlastuin and the likes as early selections surely. Mathew Haynes is another I would keep an eye on, not a great carnival but has pace to burn and skills to go with it. Could fall down the order and be a good pick up. -
Spot on Jimmy C, couldn't agree with you more. We need to build our own.

I'm not sure who is out there, I think Beams is probably locked away and not convinced of his worth for a first rounder yet (struggled with a tag on the weekend, but still learning the game). Are either Caddy or Boak worth it against what is in the draft? don't know. Every year you see young draft prospects likened to current champions and this year is no exception, Stringer/ Pavlich is one example well if he is then I wouldn't be trading him for Beams, Boak or Caddy but as we know the drafting and development process is not that simple. If we get the chance to pick up a player (Under 25yo, at the right money) who looks the goods then we have a good look at it. I just don't want us to pay overs for a messiah, it doesn't work. We need top quality players to build a side around...if that comes through the draft so be it.

Kerr has re signed with WCE.

If we don't see him this week it doesn't sound like it will be too long. Thanks for the report and the one in the VFL thread Maldonboy, very much appreciated.

Would be a multiple Brownlow medalist if he thought he was. Loves playing the Tiges....
-
Will wait and see who performs for Casey today. Cook, Gysberts, Strauss and Petterd will need good games to get them in the mix, we know what Green and Davey can do.
-
He's been put on notice by the selectors that he's in the mix (named in emergency list) so now it's up to him to push for a spot.
-
It does. I think injury is part of it but really don't know for sure.
-
Well worth a look, there were big raps on this kid.
-
Yep agree, the more picks we have the better chance to build depth and get things right.

Richmond's Dan Connors and Dustin Martin in trouble
rjay replied to GawnWithTheWind's topic in Melbourne Demons
No it's not hard to work out, he went up there because his partners sister had died. Let's not write anything more into it, the year has been hard enough as it is. -
Not for me, doesn't really offer us anything.

Is Sheahan on the injury list?

Heard that before he pulled on his last match day jumper when he proved most in the media and many on here wrong. Let it play out and see what happens. -
I would think we are better off going to the draft than trade for Caddy, wouldn't use our earlier picks on him.

I think you are pretty well on the mark here Jose. As a good journo she has her sources and uses them along with her own observations, she is not the guru but has positioned herself well being seen as a draft expert. -

No, you think the Tiges haven't tried. So many kids would give everything to play afl but it seems he is going to ....it away. -

Agree, he will probably be top 5. Maybe a bit of doubt cast with him not playing out the season but I would take a serious look at him for pick 4 if that's what we have and if he is available. -

Starting to sound a bit like Jack Darling (maybe more a Heppell), wonder where the Crows hope to pick him up? This kid is well in the class of the players mentioned and is already a senior premiership player in the SANFL. -

He was pretty good mate, good inside and spreads well. Not Blease fast but not Brock slow either with a good left foot and quick hands, he will be a player don't worry about that.
