  1. As I say, hard to tell on the TV coverage and I would have thought they might have focussed on it given the drive Yarran was giving. He was with him at times but either way the Tiges defensive forward work was very average and didn't help their undermanned defense.
  2. Anyone watching last nights game think that Vickery is ahead of Watts in development?
  3. Hard to tell from TV coverage but it looked as though Maric was playing on Yarran who kicked a couple of goals from half back. It was the defensive part of his game and lack of second effort that really lacks in his game and why he is a good VFL player but doesn't step up. One glaring effort was when he lost his feet in a contest and sat on the ground exhausted whilst Yarran took off down the ground with ball in hand.
  4. Thanks for the link Ron, I found it very interesting listening. With this issue and the issue surrounding Liam recently there have been some fantastic and educational posts on this site. Who would have thought?
  5. Yep and it looks as though Dangerfield is going to sign for 5 at Adelaide so we are going to have to develop our own. This coming draft is going to be very important to state the obvious.
  6. Nicho is an athlete so the pre season stuff is right up his alley, he played some good games last year and had a go. A lot on here get on his back about disposal which can be hit and miss, someone else has mentioned his lack of awareness but what I see is that he is not a one touch player. Maybe he is trying too hard and this leads to problems with awareness (to narrow focus) and handling errors but if he could take the ball cleanly with his pace it would be an asset. It's also possible that he is playing at his peak and has no more to give. Personally I hope he makes it.
  7. They can't mate, GWS can only take one player per club. They already have him, some guy called Scully.
  8. The only thing Nic is streets ahead of Jack in is doing the spectacular and looking good in dreads. Roos was a little critical (tip toed around it a bit) of his work rate the other night as a reason why he doesn't pick up the stats he should, the same criticism of Watts has nearly brought on a Royal Commission. Both are young players, Watts the younger without the experience of Cox, Kerr, and co. around him. Lets judge 10 years out.
  9. Sellar can go forward, so that flexiblity will be handy. I think Grimes will play, he had good match time up to being injured at training and Saturday at Casey was a good run leading in.
  10. I hope not, he has really done well to get back playing so early after the leg.
  11. I get where you are coming from and if it was just one game in isolation I would agree but in the context of a season he hasn't had enough time on the ground. I think he would be better served getting more game time. Sometimes we put too much stake in the first game of the season and whilst I really want us to win it (will be p..off if we lose) and Tappy as a sub would certainly help the cause, we need to think of the season ahead and not just the first game.
  12. Seems like you've both been drinking (lol). Enough of the insults, is this insults, no abuse, argument?, debate? maybe a difference of opinion or just plain point scoring.
  13. Looks pretty good but Tappy has missed too much footy to start as the sub, he needs a good run. Probably another week at Casey at least.
  14. If they keep playing like they did last night they have no chance of making the 8, but lets put that one down to Patricks Smiths favourite words, "Hubris".
  15. I think Sellar will play, not sure who in place of but maybe MacDonald or Bennell. They played him on a medium forward against Hawthorn for a reason and he did ok. Just a feeling but time will tell.
  16. HD looked good in the NAB cup but it was a let down last night with no HD. This is from their online campaign, yes it is false advertising isn't it Mr. Bartlett? "There is not a game during the home-and-away season that FOX FOOTY will not broadcast LIVE, in HD and SD UNINTERRUPTED siren to siren." Got the SD paid for the HD.
  17. Agree, it happens time and again, lucky he has a better temperament than Fev or Richo. With Sam I think the trouble is he often backs his kicking skills a bit too much and tries to be a bit pretty. I'm sure that will come out of his game with experience and with the coaches beating up on him. Strauss is another who can kick long low and accurately and we need to get more games into him.
  18. Me too and they had live HD in the little fox box on the screen, I thought my eyes were playing up but it didn't look HD to me. False advertising?? On the game, I thought Sydney were pathetic last night. A few of their players were treating it like a stroll in the park and they came unstuck, percentage went begging.
  19. To get off Watts for a minute, it's good to hear that Sheahan did his job well and kept Skinner quite last night. Developing well for a young rookie with a heap of talent.
  20. Thanks for the updates guys, not often I turn off the football on TV but the game was so boring and the commentary average at best. Watts and Gysberts, that's good to hear. I noticed at one point Sheahan was moved on to Skinner, how did he go?
  21. They've missed out on Hurley so the pressure will be on ED to keep Cloke or Pendlebury, should make for an interesting year. Carlton haven't dodged a bullet yet either.
  22. I think you are close but Tapscott won't play as he hasn't had any match practice to date (first game or half game tomorrow at Casey) and although positions don't count so much in the modern game I think Garland is more likely to play up the ground around HBF.Sellar may get a game, interesting against the hawks they played him on Gunston rather then the more obvious Hale probably to see how he could match up against a medium forward and he did ok. Match ups will be important particularly with Brown out, will we play Rivers and Sellar in the same side? Can Sellar take a medium forward?
  23. Funny, I thought Collingwood were happy for Neeld to be interviewed for coaching positions. It wasn't exactly a secret. A bit of revisionism going on here me thinks, Geelong were the better team and Collingwood are making excuses, and speaking of excuses I can't get over Hawthorn thinking the prelim loss cost them a flag. Has anyone noticed how Caroline seems to have changed her tune a bit this season after the boss has fed her a few stories, she has become very AFL friendly.
