"There's a strong argument," Gil McLachlan on a Priority Pick.
rjay replied to PartyTimeJohnny's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not so sure about pick to trade, it was shown at GWS that clubs really don't want to give away anything. Someone in my opinion will get a cheap pick if we are forced down that path. -
Changes Next Week v Western Bulldogs
rjay replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looks about right 'Tall', maybe Magner for Rodan or Byrnes but he seems to be on the outer at the moment. -
Adelaide List manager, Noble, might be in our sights

That's doubtful, a bit like believing Connelly and Bailey were the brains behind the t...t...a...n.... -
Good...he was one of CS's big supporters. Undecided about Healy but he was definitely 'asleep at the wheel' as far as being a football director. Still not sure what Howcroft is doing and think he maybe one of the liniment sniffers.

Cutler looked good in last years TAC cup GF thought he would be a good pick up then found he was still an under ager, will be interested to see how he goes in the U18 champs.

Agree with you 'stuie' and one of the things that appealed at draft camp was his endurance running so he has the tank to build. He goes missing because he is a kid trying to find his way, to me it is the confidence to impose himself on the game. If he can do this then we have a player.

This is now getting very ugly. I can understand why the AFL are saying nothing at the moment, it's to a fair degree out of their hands. They are in a difficult position and the game is in a very difficult position and as someone who loves the game I would hope the AFL don't take knee jerk reactions. If Jobe gets served his notice from ASADA then I think the AFL will have no choice but to stand him down but until that time what is the best thing. There are going to be some serious ramifications come out of all this but I can't help but feel unease about the long term relationships that will break down. People with lifetime friendships forged from football will be at odds and when the blame game starts things will get very messy. I don't like this at all.

So...does anyone know why Taggert didn't play on the weekend???

Correct 'Jack', obviously asleep at the wheel...

Agree, it's his attack on the ball that wins it for me. Davis is another who attacks the ball hard and it's time for him to have a run.

THE DRAFT: TAC CUP FUTURE STARS ROLLING DRAFT
rjay replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well at the moment we are far from having a great forward line, but anyway this is all supposition at the moment. We don't know what picks we have and we don't know who will be available to us and where they are rated but if Boyd is the best available to us then I think we would be stupid not to give him serious consideration. I know we need mids and argued the case last year when we picked up Hogan in the mini draft, I'm happy we did now. -

You don't trade a top pick for an established mid, a quality established mid like Griffin or Fyfe probably but a player of that class won't be offered. The GWS mini draft proved that. -

Tambling or Franklin???? ...best available, the lessons of the past need to be learned. -
Interesting 'Jack', he's not likely to have just come out with the comments without some pretty solid advice and coaching.

THE DRAFT: TAC CUP FUTURE STARS ROLLING DRAFT
rjay replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, it's not going to happen. As GWS found with their mini draft no one wanted to trade quality experience and it would need to be quality to trade out a pick like that. -
It would be difficult for Todd to take this position with Jack at the club...in fact I would think it the ultimate conflict of interest overseeing the contract of your son. That said I would hope to see the right job open up for Todd and maybe that is in recruiting, it would also be good to keep Neil Craig on in a development role if he was not retained as senior coach.

Best available. Mick Turner makes these type of comments every year. -
Looks to be developing nicely, interesting to see where he will end up. A long way to go yet.
-
Pretty sure he played with the NT boys 'RM'.
-
...and he wants one bad. As a player Eade has won 4 flags and I think he has one as a reserves coach, maybe wrong there but if he could win one as a senior coach it would cap of a very good career in football. If he did it at Melbourne he would be a legend.

Nup, Schwab wins hands down. He had to be first out the door.

'Jack' I think we will see these things confined to history at the end of this season when we have a new board and people in administration. The Peter Jackson led club is now starting to build its own history and the disasters of the past will hopefully stay there. I understand you are concerned that people are still around throwing muck at the club and trying to undermine it but they will have no one to throw it at soon, probably getting their last few shots away while they can. I must admit I can't help having a go at CS whenever anything comes up because I am still so angry at what he and his accomplices did to this club and I'm not so generous as to say it was all done in good faith.

Anyone know why Taggert didn't play yesterday?
-
Spot on 'Bob', Jackson is very big on this and it must be a breath of fresh air to the players after the way they were treated under the previous admin. As you allude to, lets hope they back this up in their actions.

True but the umpire didn't fall for that one thankfully, maybe our player will learn something from that.
