  1. Might be more about cleaning out anyone that has been connected to a divisive past at the club. Will it be throwing the baby out with the bath water, that I wouldn't know.
  2. Davey may or may not get a one year deal but I wouldn't expect to see him in to many games next year, he would only be kept on for his leadership around the club. I wouldn't be amazed one way or the other.
  3. Yeah, apart from people getting in a knot about him not knowing contract status where is he wrong?
  4. She is usually on the money with her information and I think most of us would agree with the steps that need to be taken. It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next couple of months. The FD boss is crucial to everything coming together. The word from Tim Watson this morning was that Don McLardy would step down today. Things are moving now.... I think the news of the contract was what we found out basically yesterday. It was signed under Schwab's watch. This is the one thing I struggle with but it's now time to move on.
  5. I thought it was a pretty good overview of where we're at. We do need to get games into those that are staying and have a look at some of the borderline players to see if they stay or go. Hogan at one, well it's not just Walls that thinks that. The club is pushing the Hogan line and many posters here are doing the same. I also think most people here not knowing the contract situation would compile a similar list to Walls of those who should be moved on. Even if they are in contract we would like them gone and last year a few who were on contract were moved on. He missed Terlich who I rate, didn't know anything of Taggert no mention of Gawn but that's our thing we live and breathe the club he has 18 clubs to keep an eye on. I'm not a big fan of Walls and I always find his defence of Dean Bailey amusing but I think a lot of you are being a bit precious here.
  6. 'stuie', I think you are over rating him in the aggression stakes. Watching him a few times at pre season training in any of the competitive drills he was very timid, especially when faced with an opponent coming front on. Maybe you've been to a few Casey games and seen that he's turned it around but definitely not on training form, the Michael Long thing well we can only hope. He does have some good skills 'stuie', he is a nice kick of the ball and he has built up a bit already in the time he's been at the club so this may give him some more confidence.
  7. I don't think Buckley would take the risk, he's trying to sort out his list and doesn't need any more distraction.
  8. Agree with you here 'dee-luded'. A football club is first and foremost a club, a club with a lot of history and emotion attached...it needs to be treated with respect for that difference and not as just another business.
  9. Ever seen Buddy in the midfield? he's ripped the game apart the few times he's played there.
  10. He has no trade value now and when his contract up it will be retirement time, probably is now... For me it's time to bring Max in to the no.1 position and let him play out the year to see how he goes, we've got nothing to lose.
  11. Maybe they should play him in the middle instead of starvation corner...anyway I think he should play AFL because at least he knows what to do with the ball when he gets it. The kids one of the best kicks in the club, he is a strong build and good mark. Bomber Thompson talked about getting games into kids at Geelong the other night, it's not giving away games to players with talent because a lot of the others in the side don't deserve to be there in the first place. The sooner him, Toumpas, Hogan, Viney, Kent and co get over 50 games the better off we will be.
  12. An interesting thing; Carmen was at Collingwood when Weideman took them to their first spoon, the following year Hafey took them to a GF. Was it the coach or the players?
  13. mmm, maybe not.
  14. This is also not correct, because 'Dicker' went about his business without fanfare doesn't mean he needed Kennett to make things happen. Dicker set it up and followed through. Jeff took over a well oiled machine that even he struggled to sabotage, not that he didn't try.
  15. Doesn't work back hard enough 'Bobby', he's ok when the ball is in his area but even then runs in too many circles which allows his teammates up field to be covered.
  16. Nah, just inside 3 weeks. Not enough time, having done these things a number of times you need a good 4 weeks.
  17. That's true, he blames the players sometimes which I can't fathom.
  18. There is no 'the' problem...there are many things that have caused the major problem, on field success and at the top of the list is the management of the club. The Financial ok that you talk about was always an illusion to start with and more so without on field success.
  19. Sorry 'pm', thought Rodan was pretty bad myself. Brings nothing on field at senior level.
  20. It does seem a bit strange, but I trust that Jacksons involvement in this will see the changes come that most are wanting. I can't see this being an Andrews fiasco.
  21. It's only football common sense 'deanox' and so frustrating. Thing we don't really know is whether or not it is instruction, lack of confidence, laziness or as you say understanding and experience.
  22. Good teams don't need to look they know their players know where to run and where to kick. I will take your word that it was Garlands fault, it didn't seem to bother Collingwood players who eren't worried about where our guys were.
  23. I heard Lyon sprout this one, I don't agree. I think the players were too lazy to make position up the field and left Col with no one to kick to, the players were running nowhere. I think this is a huge problem all round, we don't work at all let alone hard enough.
