  1. At around 6'3" that's a bit of a stretch.
  2. I think 'Clarko' has a few little tricks up his sleeve. Watch how their midfield sets up on Saturday, it will surprise a few but not if you think it through.
  3. I think that's his position 'Ben'. ...for those concerned about his defensive efforts, that can be fixed and will be with the new coach. I think he lost his way in the 2nd half of the season and there are a lot of reasons for it.
  4. Haven't read the thread, but I think Shaw is a better than very good player. He does make a goose of himself at times but he can play. Is he right for us, probably not at the stage we are at. I think he could play as a mid but I also think Collingwood would want to much for him and at his age it would be a no deal. If we have to shell out decent picks it needs to be for a 20-24 yo. Pity he's not out of contract or we could pick him up for free in the PSD, that would make Eddie happy.
  5. I would hope our club would not deal with Essendon. There is too much that could still go wrong and we could end up with a player banned for up to 2 years. I think the doggies are taking a big risk.
  6. Don't fall for that one. The only thing Roos and Lyon haven't been concerned about is the amount of the score they kick to beat the opposition. They are both very focussed on winning the game, everything they do is about the outcome. Remember the only KPI that counts is the scoreboard, the process and role is all about winning. Do you think Lyon will be satisfied in losing this weeks GF that everyone played their role and the KPI's were good but "we were just beaten by a better side on the day". I don't think so. ...all this process and role stuff is a snow job fed to supporters when you can't win a game or are not performing to expectations. My expectation is to go to the footy next year and think we are a chance to win the game. I don't want a year like this year where we had little or no hope, wanting us to at least be competitive and contain the margin of the loss.
  7. I reckon you are right. The games I've watched him (admittedly only a couple), he got his fair share of contested ball and clearances. The outside tag comes from people looking at his weight not his performance. He is clean, has good skills, is a good runner and accumulates the ball. I wouldn't be unhappy if we picked him up.
  8. Tell her that George's job at Melbourne will keep him at the club for long, long hours getting this ship back on course.
  9. Said this before but Watters is looking like Neeld Mark II.
  10. Offered Mumford money that Geelong couldn't match. Gave Richards a chance to play regular football that Essendon didn't, same with Kennedy and McGlinn. Gave Shaw a fresh start which he needed. Drafted and developed some good kids. Money and opportunity will be what we will be looking at. I don't think anything will come of a swap for pick 2 unless a club like Adelaide really want Aish, GC could also be interested as he is a Clayton type player.
  11. Another year like this one and I'm not so sure. ...but we move on.
  12. Seems like Jackson became a mentor to him early on and also gave him enough of a challenge to see if he would sink or swim. We needed some experience at the club and as said above it came in the form of the coach, this helped Josh get the position. Good luck to him, he stood up.
  13. Kelly has a lot more skill than Scully though.
  14. I think we may still get a kind of PP by default. It all depends on the next month.
  15. Swallow or Adams and a first round pick back to us?
  16. ...and that has nothing to do with what I am saying.
  17. No, he might be a good assistant coach but doesn't have it to be a senior coach. He has let his ego override the club with stupid decisions like the Fev one and does not listen. I'm not sure he has learned much at all and I don't think he has the ability to manage people and that is needed at the top level. I also don't see him as a innovative thinker and tactician, I find him a bland analyst of football. Good player, not coaching material for mine.
  18. We definitely need to create our own PP by using the PSD to our advantage.
  19. His name is Matt Crouch.
  20. While we're about being ruthless we can create our own PP by getting some one to fall to us in the PSD.
  21. "boys will be boys", is ok as far as I'm concerned but what has been covered up in the past was not that, it was much, much worse.
  22. No, this is not the path to go down at all. What that presents is a 2 tier competition with the strong getting stronger. The only way to equalise the competition is to have all clubs playing the good competitive football and to share the big games and block busters like Friday night and Anzac day. By playing in the big games you can build a fan & revenue base, by being excluded you are essentially relying on hand outs until the AFL and strong clubs get sick of it and you're gone.
  23. That is very true, some legends of the game had very dubious lives off the ground.
  24. I think we were a really good show of getting one of those picks but the pressure from the clubs and media may derail that. I'm still hopeful the commission will do the right thing but as others have noted their official announcements seem to be made via leaks through the media these days and it's not positive.
