It's not a non argument 'steve', clubs tend to not look at the Fev types so they don't get a gig at another club. Voss was stupid. You could probably put Ben Cousins in that bracket too, no club would touch him but Richmond gave him a lifeline and you couldn't deny his on-field and training influence but he still has a lasting off field legacy at Richmond. Shaw is a very good footballer, in Chris Dawes words he is a one off unique individual and a pest (in the nicest way). Would he add value to the club? not sure. His off field stuff is dumb but not in the same league as Fev and Cousins. It's going to be more about him following the game plan and not being an individual in a team game. Roos is the man to make the call.

Pensioner with average skills.
-
The first 2 at least are a carry over, they've been wanting out for a while.
-
He's been with us for 2 years, but I'm pretty sure he played some good footy the other year in the 18's. He is a real goer but lacks in skills, we can't afford to carry too many of these type of players and as 'Sat' says he hasn't come on this year. If Taggert stays on it will be because he has the skill and size to make it, he will have to get the belief to go with it.

LIke to see them get Swan move to GWS. I don't think so.
-
He won us a close one in Darwin.
-
Has the same problem as a lot of our guys, he can't get enough of the ball and has no tank. Those problems probably go hand in glove.
-
...and his manager has played a big part in this. He has been badly advised, in particular his appearance on the footy show.

Lets start a thread for every delisted player. We need experience with a good upside in the 24 to 26 yo age group, no more pensioners for Melbourne.

A good guy and a good get.

The if you can't get Dustin Martin get Reece Conca Thread

A gun who goes missing for large chunks of the game, your words. A great kick who often misses his targets or takes the wrong options, my words. Don't confuse a long powerful kick as being a good kick. -
I don't really rate Choco as a coach, I always thought Alan Scott was right. Hardwick's real test will come next year, he will need to win finals or he will go the way of Harvey and Ratten.

Hawthorn President angry at the Demons getting hand-outs?!
rjay replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
...are, no I wrote something along the same lines a few days back and I'm pretty sure 'rpfc' mentioned the idea of an AFL sanctioned trade a while back. -
A sprint coach will not help him regain pace or explosiveness, getting to the bottom of why he has lost it and fixing it might. Remember Rioli getting trained to change his running style, nothing happened. He is still doing hammy's.
-
He is continually caught out when the momentum shifts in games, it cost Richmond the close ones last year and some big games this year. He doesn't seem to read the game quickly enough to make adjustments on the run, to tied down by preordained plans.

Hawthorn President angry at the Demons getting hand-outs?!

Who cares? -
Let the younger guy develop; Nahas couldn't get a game with a club that had a substandard small forward ahead of him. No thanks. Have I ever told you I don't rate small forwards?

Not a very good match day coach is Hardwick, I hope Burns or whoever we get is much sharper in this area.

HOWE snubbed for mark of the year.
rjay replied to Bombay Airconditioning's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given that Schultz took his mark over the goal line I would put it head to head with Howey's over the boundry line grab. -
Might also be why Bartlett was talking to Worsfold to get the heads up but you would think he is a still big show for the WC senior job.
-
Rumour that Basset has the gig, I doubt it because Roos hasn't even started interviewing potentials yet.

No, not correct. The people running the club at the time crippled the club, they were totally incompetent. Hawthorn and Collingwood used their picks to advantage because they were a well run club. Opposition clubs can now see our club being well run and see an advantage to us in getting a priority pick, in the past it didn't matter because they knew we would screw it up. Be in no doubt about this, the other clubs prattling on is totally about their self interest and this is why we have a commission. A priority pick now would be a big benefit to turn this club around and in our own self interest. I want it, I don't give a flying...about what happened in the past or what other clubs think. While we're on self interest. I want the best draw, at least 10 Friday night games, no more twilight games, the Anzac day game, the first game of the season, little to no interstate travel, no more games at Geelong, training facilities at the MCG, kick the interlopers off the 'G' and no more games for us at docklands.
-
I think Jackson embarrassed a few jounos at the press conference by hinting that they might like to do their homework. Also giving them a history lesson as to why we have a commission.
-
I agree, I think we are. I also think the mechanism is not right, it invites criticism.

Might well be the football manager role???
