Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE
rjay replied to Ted Lasso's topic in Melbourne Demons
See it exactly the same, he's a replacement for Silvia. Maybe a bit more of a true midfielder and has reached some higher points with a b&f but pretty much like for like. -
I think you are right, and he's also very popular with his teammates.

We don't have any class mids on our list at the moment, Toumpas may step up to be one. I can understand your argument that we need more grunt but it can't be at the expense of class and none of the names you have mentioned could be considered class mids at present. some of them are no longer at the club. My question was "who are the class mids at the club", I don't think we have any so drafting for them would also fill a gap in the list. A big gap. I think a lot are underrating Aish, he is ready to go and he will play good footy in his first year. I'm not saying we take him but I am saying he is a very good player.

St Kilda are not seriously in the Boyd hunt, Pelican brought it up to snow the saint supporters. Forget about it. Rohan is coming back from a broken leg, if he gets it right he will be a star. I'm basing looking at him from our inside knowledge, if his recovery is on track then I would seriously look at him.

Wouldn't touch Elliot and it's way above the odds for Seedsman at the moment. I would think about a deal with Sydney that involved Gary Rowan though, the kid has got everything to be another Dangerfield.
-
Good player but too short, will he be Harvey, Betts or Callinan. Harvey's a win, Betts loss on pick 2, Callinan a bust. Who will be the better player at the end of their career, my money would be on Aish by a fair way.

I think it was the other way around 'old dee', Darling got assaulted.
-
Good size and skills. Strong overhead and one of the best kicks at the club. Not confident enough in his own abilities yet and hasn't had a full preseason. Good development could see him really come on. Rory is 50/50 at the moment, if he tips the right side of that he will be a player.
-
Apart from Toumpas who are these class mids you talk about? Who ever we get needs to have class, good skills particularly by foot, good decision maker etc.
-
Heard someone talking about it today (can't remember which journo) but I very much doubt a lot of weight would be placed on the combine results as far as the top end picks go. The recruiters would already know what they bring to the table, they have been watching these guys for years now.

I think he is there as insurance in case it hits the fan with ASADA which would then make Hird, Thompson & Goodwins positions untenable.

If they've fallen out can Walker head straight into the PSD or is he contracted?

I think "High" might be the appropriate word here. Which one was it Cheech or Chong???

I get exactly what you are saying but I don't think that making big noises off the ground has anything to do with respect. I think getting the job done does as you've identified with Hawthorn on another thread. I like the way we are doing business now, I'm sure we will ruffle some feathers along the way but we won't be grandstanding. Just getting the job done.
-
Someone down there must have money on it with the decisions they have been making.
-
Respect is not about behaving in a childish manner it's about getting the job done. Things have changed, we are now going about business in a professional manner. I'm sure we will get our man. Respect will come with improved on ground performance simple as that. As an aside, Colless made himself look a bit of a clown with his rant.

More than a rumour, done deal. Hawks amazing work to get McEvoy.
-
Well, it seems Hawthorn have picked up McEvoy so we can wipe them off the Jamar list.
-
Josh Caddy showed in the preliminary final why Geelong went after him. He will be a very good footballer for them.
-
Wouldn't suit Geelong at all with Simpson due back, Vardy, Blitz and co but could be a backup at Hawthorn for a developing Longer if they get him.

I don't really care much about any of this beating your chest stuff, it doesn't achieve much if anything. I don't see how teams hating us achieves anything at all, but then again I couldn't care less if they do or don't, we just need to go about our business. If Dew is the man and he wants the job then my reading is all he has to do is accept and Sydney won't stand in his way. They are adding a little bit of theatre to proceedings at the moment but the key is that Dew is yet to accept our offer (if one has been made). Let's see how it pans out.

Thanks 'Ben', love the turn of phrase. Spot on.

Well lucky for us that Danny is looking after our best interests.

Um...so where did he say this? I think he was using the universal may trade rather than the personal will trade to paraphrase "Pete & Dud".
