And he's right about this.
I think Max needs to show it doesn't effect him in a negative way. If he lifts to another level then I can't see teams trying it on any longer. Unfortunately it works and they will keep doing it. Someone mentioned it and it may have been you 'Red' but if they try and body him he should come in with a raised knee. A few of them around the ribs will soon make you back off. As for around the ground there isn't a lot teammates can do, maybe the odd block here and there. I would definitely look at targeting an opposition player for the same treatment though... The AFL will get sick of the look soon enough and change the rules, that will suit us anyway.

2024: Defensive set up vs offensive balance
I think we will and have done this but only when we have our forward line back. To me it would be a recipe for disaster with the current line up. We were starting to do it last year when Petty was up and about for a few games.

Read and comprehend what I've said a number of times. I've answered your questions. I get annoyed at your constant misquoting, like where have I ever said we don't have a forward issue?

Let me just put this here...

There is no doubt Jackson has been a big loss... Hogan would be really handy now but I think we did well in the trade. I'm not sure we sold the farm but I get your point.- And he's right about this.
Yep, but we don't have them or anyone to play those roles at the moment. ...and we didn't have Koz.- And he's right about this.
Sorry 'kev', but you just can't run a forward line like that at AFL level and expect a positive result against good teams.- And he's right about this.
Lets start with McAdam, like he's not in our side now he spent a lot of time injured at Adelaide. Ok, we've been through this a lot but you don't want to believe it. We all know there's a problem, the coach, the FD, the fans, the media... The game plan can be argued, it drives me to distraction as well. ...but if we don't have the forwards it's no point opening the game up for opposition rebound. We would get scored heavily against. As much as I hate the game plan, I don't think it's the issue. It's the cattle...you can't put out a forward line of Schache, Chandler, Laurie & Spargo and expect big scores. ...but the options weren't really there. Every time we've come up with something that looks to work injury has struck us down. Petty straightens us up, McAdam will be a help and I reckon Tholstrup will be a beauty. Kozzy cost us big time the other night. The game plan will change when we get the forward mix right. Bringing Salem into the midfield mix will also be a big help, but again injury (Bowey) might torpedo this. I sure hope we persist. We're not refusing to acknowledge there is a problem, as you say Goody himself acknowledges it to the point of boredom.- CASEY: Practice Match vs Port Melbourne
Not sure we've sold the farm in early draft picks. We've been pretty successful. Weid is the only top 10 KPF of recent times that's been a bust.- And he's right about this.
I suggest pretty much everyone on here knows there is a problem. The coach knows it, the FD knows it. As for the headline about us refusing to address it, I would say that's a crock. We've tried a raft of things to address it, some have been successful for short periods, others not. Injury & unavailability has been a big part of the problem...along with unavailable options of players to poach from elsewhere. That is not refusing to address the problem.- And he's right about this.
You can't have it both ways '3165'.. We either don't get we have a problem or we do... ...which one is it? The FD obviously know there is an issue as Goody has consistently stated. No one here has their red and blue patches on...we all know we have a forward line issue. Dermott is no genius and all your banging on doesn't change it. ...but it's not an easy fix otherwise it would have already been done.- And he's right about this.
If you think the FD don't know this and haven't tried to fix the problem you've got rocks in your head. Every one can bang on about it as much as they want but what is the answer. You can't make an in contract player just decide to come to us. The only proven out of contract KPF available over the last few years was BBB and we got him. Some other contracts have come up but their clubs know their value and have made it near impossible to pry them away.- PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
No can't see BBB being ready either, that was wishful thinking. Was going to mention LJ but was posting on the run. I think Fullerton is the one we've targeted to take this role. Longer term I think our preference is the 3 talls forward but that really is contingent on the quality and that we don't have at the moment. Agree on Salem in the middle. He really adds something different. Add a bit of Kozi in there and suddenly we're a bit more unpredictable.- PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
- Targeting Max
The only thing that will help Max is Max himself... If he starts to play better the more he gets targeted then it will stop pretty quickly. There are players you never physically target for that reason. You don't want to fire them up into dominant performances. However, it would be nice to have big Carl in his prime running around in the background.- PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
- PREGAME: Rd 01 vs Western Bulldogs
Laurie, Spargo, Billings, Chandler..keep one of them...probably Chandler. Tip the rest. Of course Koz comes back and we need at another tall at least to help JVR. Look at Tholstrup, Woey, Sestan someone with a bit of extra size and grunt... ...and young Brown who has a bit more zip than the pedestrians we had in last night. Even look at AMW. It would have to have been the most boring, ineffective forward line in the AFL for a long time.- VOTES: Opening Round vs Sydney

...and was his intent to smother or to put pressure on the ball carrier. I think the later. The attempted smother was a smoke screen.- 2024 Experts Predictions
We will all know at the end of September... These predictions are set up to make us all look like fools. So, let me say that things rarely go in a straight line as far as life and sport are concerned. Brisbane to have a rocky ride this season...- PREGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
