AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
I'm not sure I explained myself properly. ...and I'm not thinking you were but some seem to think using say pick 8 on a player the phantoms have as say pick 20 or whatever is a stretch. When I would think the professionals should know all the players in the draft and have their own rankings. If we think he's worth 8 then take him at that. You don't miss a good player because he didn't rank that high in the phantoms. Jackson was a prime point, even a lot of the pros thought we over reached there...but I think the proof was in the premiership with that one. Holmes at 20 was probably the pick of that draft or close to it. We would have no problem using pick 7 or 8 on him now.

AFL Draft 2025: Picks 7 & 8
I think it's quite funny how people here are concerned we might pay overs for someone we know little about based on "draft experts" opinions. I will trust our recruiting team ahead of these lot any day of the week. ...and another thing; Just thinking as I typed above - who was the female reporter that had a good rep on the draft a few years back and what ever happened to her???

If we're looking into a tall from my very limited viewing & knowledge I would hope it is Ludowyke....not so sure about Schubert.

It not only killed off any leg speed he had, it markedly killed of his strength over the ball which was an asset pre injury.

She's a huge loss if that's the case, particularly if Goldie is not back.

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I think this is a really positive step and I hope he and the others are really committed to it.

Between some random draft guru and 'Pennant', I'm trusting 'Pennant' every day of the week.

They might not say it but their actions show it. No one is moving top end picks from next year into this years draft.

Yep, I felt he thought he could grab a flag on the way out. Would be good for the trophy cab... it's a business that needs full commitment and it looks like you have the right man now.

AFLW: Rd 12 vs Geelong
Mackin was a welcome return....a bit rusty but she really impacted as the game went on.

I wouldn't be upset with him if JT thinks he's worth the pick...

He really doesn't 'Norm', he is not ballistic like Cam. Looks a very handy player non the less, just not sure what his ceiling is. Don't see him as a good fit for them...they have too many similar. What they do need is a real Cam Rayner type, if Stringer wasn't a problem then they did have him...but he was.

AFLW: Rd 12 vs Geelong
Our game plan is suspect against pressure...I'm not sure how we fix it as it's ingrained. ...but it makes us the best team in the AFLW to watch by far when it's on.

Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
Not in the immediate term. It's probably better for us and I don't like the idea of the bye and further uneven and unfair draw. ....but I think for the long term future of the game and the AFL's charter as custodians of the game it is very short sighted and will come back to haunt them. They really do like to take advantage of the support of the rusted on fan, one day it will be gone and they will be left begging.

I'm pretty sure it is...

Welcome to Demonland: Kalani White
I suspect he will surprise a few... Calsher Dear went pick 56 in 2023 draft, another athletic bean pole, probably not expected to do much for a few years if at all. ...but in 2024 he became a key member in the forward half and carried it on this season. White will surprise, he has the athleticism to make rapid improvement.

Is he? I'm being serious here and hope that JT and co can judge this. Given it's supposed to be an average draft at best then he hasn't been displaying those attributes against better competition. I'm not trying to be difficult, just saying that because he's the best small forward from this crop doesn't necessarily translate to being a gun small forward at AFL level. In the 2020 draft Will Phillips was seen as the best pure mid and selected at pick 3 and now delisted. Statistics and highlights won't tell the story. Good recruiting people on the ground will. If we pick him then I hope he is all we want and more. Whoever we take, I hope we pick the eye teeth out of the draft. There will be good talent and maybe he is one. Cheers.
