  1. There are a lot of fair weather supporters on here. Bad game today, a shocker...but they happen. Lets see what the team brings next week.
  2. I'm a big believer in the Alan Jeans school too 'picket'...give 'em nothing. The most boring press conferences in the history of AFL were Jeansy's.. ...but alas 'picket', 'titan' is right, we're living in a different time. Players now have responsibilities to promote the game and the club. I really hope we see none of the BS like tough love, we've turned the corner, last year really hurt, we've learned our lessons kind of stuff. Max gave none of that, just a few generic comments, no promises.
  3. I think you're being harsh on McNamara... She's very important to the defensive structure with her running and she does use it well with time going forward. Can be pushed off the ball when kicking and this is where some of those stats you mentioned came from. Westy is a bit unlucky but her form has been down and having 3 inside mids of similar size, someone needed to make way & it wasn't going to be Hanks or Purcell. Her disposal is the big issues with her game, that and getting caught out of position. We've gone without a true relief ruck at times but I'm pleased they selected Campbell, I don't think Pearce can do it alone. I'm guessing with Heath coming in to the midfield there isn't another position she can play. In the end team balance was against her.
  4. If 'DeeSpencer' was the chairman of selectors I'm sure Birch would be on the chopping block.
  5. No, disagree...she hasn't had a good year & was the obvious one to go. Given Heath will come into the midfield as a tagger there is no place for West.
  6. So, you didn't bother to have a look at the news item then. I might be going deaf in my old age but I didn't hear Max mention the words tough love. Is there another video that I'm missing?
  7. What comment did Max make that you think would add more pressure.
  8. That's actually very funny 'Jimmy'... I guess I've always thought of you as a very black & white thinker. ...but you're right, there are many shades.
  9. He didn't really say much 'Jimmy', not sure where the tough love headline comes from. Didn't hear it in that clip. Is there a longer version somewhere that you've heard?
  10. Interchange McNamara, Gay and Mithen? Personally would take in Campbell not sure on the other spot.

  12. He didn't say much in that clip 'dazz', but agree less talk this season and just getting on with it would be ideal.
  13. Daicos is a beauty, unfortunately he has to play for C/wood. A clear run with injury and Reid will be up there no doubt.
  14. There was a great premiership coach who believed kicking on your opposite foot was highly overrated.
  15. On these highlights he really is...the best all round package I can remember seeing.
  16. Yep, it's why I think we play Goldie in the middle against these teams in particular. She has the strength to go with them. Lil is most definitely not the answer. I wouldn't also be against the idea of running Harris in short bursts as a mid to break things up a bit. We keep giving teams the same look. Mick talks about the teams flexibility, it's time to really show it. On another note, I hope Makin is back this week..she adds real X factor to the forward half that's been missing.
  17. Love Goldie, she is very underrated...having a great season.
  18. Well, I guess we'll either look like geniuses or just plain stupid...
  19. No ...and no
  20. I think Mick is fantastic, he and Daisy set up this team and are a big part of the culture. The team themselves, what a great bunch they are. Peter Jackson again had the foresight to get on board way back when others couldn't see it. It mustn't also be forgotten that one of the people 'Robbo' has been taking pot shots at...the Prez, Kate Roffey has been very proactive. ...and I will also say a big part of the success of the women's team are the cheer squad who are the envy of the competition and an absolute credit to themselves and the club.
  21. Love it 'Dees'... If the girls can now make it back to back it will cap off a great season for the club.
  22. With Joel's injury history it wouldn't surprise...
  23. I might be wrong but I think it then went to the AFL minor premiers until it's rejuvenation in the current format.
  24. You wouldn't be taking him at pick 6 on that performance.
  25. Pity about Chaka, I don't feel so bad missing her. Probably always going to be hit or miss. Nile is always great, a great catalog to draw from. ...and speaking of catalogs to draw from, I guess McCartney has the ultimate. A 3 hour show and still missed some classics that others would have as their show stopper at the end of a show. At 81 or 2...whatever age he is now, his voice is not so strong but to his credit he does it live and really knows how to put a show together. The band are great, have been with him for a long time now and have it totally nailed. A great experience. Like you I got home late & watched the game (I wonder if the big shows in town drew some of the crowd away), I thought the team played well. Heath is a legend the way she just gets in the way, must be a total pain to play against and she does hurt going the other way. Your summation of Hanks is spot on, I wish we could find a male version for the mens team. She doesn't have the size of some of the big names in the competition but I think she's the classiest mid going around. Her Skipper is up there in the class ranks, such a wonderful player and leader. ...and hasn't Zanker really come on. Always had it but now realising her ability. Of course, I have a soft spot for the Irish girls. ...and mustn't forget McNamara, her game has come on in leaps and bounds. When she started her kicking was very average but now is a strength, she's always been a great runner.
