I reckon that this umpiring gig must be the hardest job in footy One mistake is magnified 100 times and replayed 100 times The priority gets changed every week on which frees should be paid Players make mistakes all the time but umpires can't.. I reckon they do a pretty good job overall. If they see them....they pay them If they pay every free they see they are accused of "tiggy touchwood".....If they don't they are accused of letting the game flow to much As I said.....It's a hard gig

I don't understand why supporters take the slightest notice of what reporters say or why their opinion matters?? I quite like Hutchy I think he is funny and has some quirky left field ideas Barrett is like what Hutchy used to be......You know...trolling peoples garbage bins to find a "Story"....Staying up at night outside somebody's house hoping for a bit of dirt that he can break as world breaking news I just ignore him...

If the AFL allowed this, wouldn't clubs "Retire" players through the season(i.e. not required players) then clubs would pull players from other comps.....It would end up a dogs breakfast.....

It's funny that we all see the same game and have so varied opinions of what we see. I only watched the last Q but I thought Spence's hitouts and the centre clearances were the reason we came back into the game just saying....

Just 2 weeks ago posters were lauding JW as a silky skilled player who was close to best on ground and had turned his game around He plays one bad game and the vultures flock around his dead body and supporters demand that he be dropped delisted and taken out the back and shot......One poster even claimed that he was a mummy's boy and had to grow up.(how he knows what Jack is like bemuses me) I promised myself that I would not come onto this thread because I knew that all the 100 to 200 games players would be spouting their vast experiences and telling Jack what was wrong with him. How about we leave these utterings to the footy dept....If he is dropped this week it wont surprise me to see posters gloating and saying I told you so> He is a Melbourne Football Club player and as such deserves some support.

Rubbish......Umps pay them as they see them.....Rightly or wrongly You put two supporters from different teams together....They will have two differing opinions of the same play or free kicks The umps do a very difficult job each week and have this year done it pretty well...

After reading a few threads on Demonland talking about what the "experts" think and what the "experts" say.....I got to wondering what or who make people "experts" Is it the ex player?.....Is it the media men and women who love and watch the game? Is it the supporter who goes and watchers other games on TV (when their side is not playing) I watch and listen to Robbo(mark)....He seams to love the game and mixing with the players....But is he an expert? I watch and listen to David King....a good player and now a media man spouting mumbo/jumbo that makes my head spin...Is he an "expert"....He can't pick a winner in the footy tips for all his "expertness" Brad Johnson....Great player but only beating Kiss of death in the tipping......"Expert"????? I have played and watch footy for over 50 years.....Does this make me an "expert" Mike Sheahan.......Has seen and written about footy for a lot of years.......But does this make him an expert??? I could go on and on......Just wondering......

I believe that tappy will get his chance to improve under the new coaching reign as with everyone on the list Lets not judge him on last years performance....If we do then none of the players would be playing next year.

Took an old friend out for lunch on Sunday Had a very lovely time on a beautiful Sunday afternoon...Great conversation ...a few drinks....Solved the worlds problems....She is a very funny lady... Not once did I think who was winning the footy or really care. Checked the scores when I got home but didn't really care There are a lot more things to do on a lazy Sunday than stress over footy these days.

All I was saying that no one knows what players get except the player,his manager, the club, and the AFL Some reporter thinks $800,000 is about right and then it is stated as fact and so it goes on that whenever that player is mentioned so is the $800,000 that he is getting. Posters are calling for Chip's blood but have no idea what he is on, what he is worth to others clubs, what his thoughts are....Either do the media... By the way what do you reckon Robbo gets for his TV shows and newspapers work?

Just read in the Age that Alex McDonald(agent) has denied shopping Chip around and has denied setting an asking price....He has not even discussed any asking price with Chip so it would be very hard to be putting numbers to other clubs and setting prices. It amazes me that posters bag the c*ap out of chip for a rumour that has no apparent truth to it... Every free agent will look elsewhere as it is the nature of the business that is Free Agency Players salaries are not made public and are often exaggerated by the media....ie...they are guessing.

I take inspiration from my 92 year old Auntie.....She still goes to the MCG (day games only)....Catches the tram to the rail station then train to the G....Drags my poor uncle with her and has lunch with a few friends... She has supported the dees for over 70 years and rings me weekly to tell me who played well and who was crap She has begged me to go with her but I just cannot face it at the moment I really admire her dedication....

All I require from commentators is....Who has it....Who kicked it.....Who marked it....who kicked the goal I don't need to know the ins and outs of every forward play, who was in the defensive zone What they should have done and why And the 'War Room' the theory is just crape if the ball bounces the other way just commentate the game ....We don't need the special comments experts explaining why a player picked his nose.

Might have to give Demonland a miss for a while The bleating and moaning about injuries is just way over the top....Every club has them...West Coast last year were decimated by them.....One of the best ruckman in the games was out for a year and a half (Sandilands) Judd has not come back on time predicted by Carlton.....Reid at Collingwood....and many others that I can't be bothered looking up, but some just want to take out their frustrations by calling the club liars and trying to hide something And while I'm at it.....The criticism of our players is pathetic by beer guzzling blokes sitting in the grand stands. They bag the players, the club and every thing the clubs tries to do to improve. The hate for some of OUR players is really concerning. For the past year or so Dunn was so hated on here he received hate mail...now he has become the favourite son. We build players up and when they don't play to our expectations we start to hate them. WTF. Jimmy T is a prize example. JKH is heading that way and Byrne is also hated. Just don't understand. They are just young men trying their best to win. Posters being upset and angry that we picked this player instead of that player......Posters insulting others for an opinion that they don't agree with. The negativity on here is just depressing. Rant over.
