  1. There is so much politics and misinformation behind this. Robbo's recent effort in the HUN was appalling.
  2. True but your suggestion then is that the coach twiddles his thumbs and does nothing?
  3. Saw Foxtel Sports News last night had an item on GWS training and it was claimed that the usual suspect was training the house down. Reinforces the rumour I heard that a certain knee injury was embellished and played up as somewhat worse than it really was a few years ago to make it easier for a change of clubs at the end of the season.
  4. And the coach would say that he's able to work more on the skills of the players which, after all, the lack of which together with a decent gameplan is what's held us back in the past few seasons. Demons hoping to turn up heat with midfielders This is where we will improve even if it doesn't happen overnight.
  5. Thanks to you posting the above, it's gone to the top of the pile again. If you want it to die, you're better off ignoring it, aren't you?
  6. I take it the the MFC isn't planning on bringing Billy to Victoria for a year's preparation inside the club system like it did with Jack Viney a couple of years ago?
  7. Good to see discussion here is now back to matters of great importance to the world at large, like banana sculpture and not trivial stuff like footy and cricket.
  8. I wasn't aware that Ellis landed such a prestigious position after leaving Melbourne in what was virtually disgrace after the lost tax bill fiasco. The stars must have aligned for him to get the position and he must have learned some lessons to stay there for this long. Anyone know what's happened with our other recent CEOs after leaving the club?
  9. Does anyone have an idea as to how many players we have in rehab at this time of year compared to last?
  10. Warner, Smith and Bailey have all been released to play BBL at the weekend. Should we be comfortable with this in the middle of a series when they should be focussing on the next test?
  11. It's the coach, the recruits, hopefully a good run with injuries and some luck.
  12. Didn't matter much did it? We've got these blokes by the bananas.
  13. ... aaah, the lure of free snags should lure out a few to deliver some promising reports from training. Just wish I could be there but work's work and I need to keep my job.
  14. Departing umpires boss Jeff Gieschen proud of increasing respect to umps More respect for umpires but less for the position of umpires advisor. Won't miss him and I hope his successor brings a bit of clarity and consistency to the interpretation of the push in the back rule vis a vis hands in the back.
  15. Sheedy was a great coach for the Bombers and Hird was a great player. Don't mind Sheeds despite his nasty streak when talking about us (sour grapes for not getting the coach's gig?) but Hird has revealed himself as a person who has no shame or remorse over the doping scandal. I truly hope we never see him again in this sport.
  16. My guess is that Mal isn't a happy camper.
  17. A quick look at next year's top draftees Is it too early?
  18. Sandringham Dragons Mostly private school boys. You can add Jayden Hunt who goes to Brighton Grammar and made a late try at getting into the Dragons squad but was unsuccessful.
  19. My information is that one of the reasons why the AFL refused Melbourne's request for a priority pick was that it would have ruined GWS's recruiting plans. Sounds feasible to me.
  20. Suffered an ACL injury last year and while he's back playing, found it difficult to break into Norwood's premiership team.
  21. There are many different types of journalist in the world. Some report the facts as they see them and leave it up to the reader to interpret what's going on. Others write opinion pieces and it's clear most of the time where they stand on various issues. Others still will mix opinion with their reporting (eg the Caro type) which is something I dislike because their agenda takes over their reporting and often leads to misrepresentation about what's happening. Worse still are the journos who do often produce agenda based articles either to push their own barrows or at the behest of their mates. That's slimy reporting IMO. I think the Denham's and the Barrett's are in the last category. They're very good at it though because they've caused a lot of discussion around here about their style and their reporting.
