  1. The Demons are struggling. Of this three is no doubt because our expectations were so high as we went into the preseason before things fell away so badly. But I wonder if we’re really that bad. We know the club is running at about ⅔ rat power due to our disastrous injury and fitness injuries but I was bemused by an article in the Herald Sun which waxed eloquent about Carlton’s future after its 24 point loss against the West Coast Eagles who took their feet off the accelerator from at least as early as the start of the final quarter on Sunday. The critics were nowhere near as friendly to Melbourne which lost by 13 points two weeks earlier in a game that could have gone either way. “Off with Goodwin’s head!” they wail. As for the Magpies, they’ve been up and down in the past month or so while suffering from an injury list that compares with that of the Demons if you believe their supporters. But according to a stat that came up on my Twitter feed that said, “Collingwood averaging 3.7 first 22 players missing per game, Dees 6.9.” Never let it be said that Collingwood folk understand the word “perspective”. Their team looked pathetic a fortnight ago against the Tigers and they were gorn by half time before their opponents virtually hung up their boots midway through the final term and allowed them to get to within 32 points of their tormentors. Melbourne, on the other hand, stayed up with Richmond for a half and fell away with the coming of the rain in third quarter to lose by 33 points. On that basis, the teams are pretty evenly matched and if the Demons can kick straight for goal, they win. I think they will do it this week - they have absolutely nothing to lose.

  3. Just been watching the last 20 minutes - is Hogan on the ground?
  4. Wow, where did North get that Dom Tyson from?
  5. Watching parts of last night’s game where North Melbourne gave last year’s premiers a whipping, I can’t see anyone else getting near them. How did they get to assemble such a strong side in no time?

  10. The AFL website has an article about the injury lists at all 18 clubs and says Tracca had a knee op at the end of the season. Track watchers are saying that he was having the knee looked at by trainers on Friday and appeared to be in some discomfort. Perhaps it is an “injury”?
  11. Surprised that Tom Freeman didn’t figure in any of the rookie draft discussion. He looks a future prospect to me.
  12. Brother Tim was on the original GWS list but played only 6 games. Then rookied by Collingwood but only played in their VFL team.
  13. Not overthinking. It might work if we did, say 2019 first rounder and 28 for say a pick 12 to 14 and early to mid 30s. This would give us a current first rounder, an early second rounder and a possible third pick before having to bid for Toby Bedford.
  14. This has nothing to do with the fact that you both come from Fish ? Creek?
  15. Yeah ... and I don’t know why Port Adelaide are so keen to get Lukosius when they already have a tall blond key forward in Jack Watts.
  16. The AFL is trying to milk out as much coverage as possible but unless some picks are traded between now and the draft night (or on the night), only 5 out of 20 picks are going to the Victorian clubs. Theres going to be very little to interest supporters of many of the traditional clubs other than the academic.
  17. Reminded me a bit of Norf’s Ben Brown.
  18. Just at the moment the GC17 don’t have any players or supporters so that’s not surprising.
