  2. Folks ... I think this thread is going to peter out unless we find a new angle. Who do we have on our list to fulfil the role that the unmentionable one was set for before he jumped ship?
  3. Well, it's all come down to this - Rate cut hopes go bananas
  4. What Tom is saying is that the offer was made to Phil after Tom signed. If the offer was made to Phil in November 2010 then Tom signed before then. What a tangled web ...
  5. Laugh as much as you like but the fellow's a recruiting genius worth his weight in ... well, worth his weight. The story goes that he was given a recruiting assignment to get whatever he prefers and he came back with the signatures Shaun McKernan, Hamish McIntosh and Eric Makenzie, all players over 195cm. When asked why he chased after these blokes, he said it was because he prefers Big Macs.
  6. I think with modern day coaching and training methods someone like Daniel Clarke might have made it as an AFL ruckman. In those days the big lumbering ruck men weren't expected to work as hard on their fitness and their skills as they do today. I saw him a few times late in his career at Frankston and I thought he wasn't far off some of the lumbering types going around the competition atmthe time.
  7. 13 days to go ... no idea who we'll get!
  8. Training for a week and still no coach?
  9. It's unlikely that he will wreck his knee. His problem is more that he will need to moderate his training regime to ensure that he can keep playing. It's doable but he will need to compromise on the high levels of fitness that he previously was able to achieve.
  10. They could do us a favour by televising all of the selections in reverse this year instead of just the first ten.
  11. What about the stress he put us under?
  12. Essendon supporters will tell you that when Denham was sticking his boots into them earlier this year, he was calling their club liars. The man can't even come up with an original line to justify this obsession with clubs and people he doesn't like.
  13. Judging by the number of comments and views on this thread to date, I'd say somebody must.
  14. More like the AFL's Afghanistan...and it could get very ugly.
  15. There is another list lodgement before the draft. How does that work? Can you delist more players then?
  16. It was on the cards for quite a while. I don't understand why GWS decided to take only 2 players this way. Surely they need some mature bodies as well as youth?
  17. I was visiting a niece whose place of business had an office at the WTC. Fortunately, they also had an office in New Jersey on the other side of the river where she was rostered on the day we visited her and from there we watched the disaster unfold.
  18. I agree that he should be thanked for his efforts and his unswerving loyalty to the cause but the reality was that in his final year as a coach we were going backwards and he had to be let go sooner rather than later. I'm far more comfortable with where we are now and appreciate that a part of it was due to his contribution but let's not look back. Let's move on.
  19. Do you guys live on bananas or something?
  20. What's on your mind?

  21. Is he really as quick as Harry O?
  22. It has been suggested that there could be a connection between the sacking and a failure to reveal all to the board. The condition of a star recruit's knee and other parts of his body might be involoved as well.
