  1. Don't be deterred by the naysayers. Keep up the good work for the cause lads!
  2. Let's not forget this one: http://youtu.be/gJmyTI97yd8
  3. Have the two new rookies been given their numbers yet?
  4. The last thing they would have done if it was a set up was to promote it beforehand. It had to look spontaneous and even with a late call up for Brock, this could have been done over lunch on the same day.
  5. Let's get this thread back on the right track and start from where it began: The promo for Episode 24 of On The Couch read like this: .When they were discussing Melbourne, it was Roos who used the words, "the worst thing you could say about Melbourne is that they're an irrelevant team". The entire discussion was a set up. Brock McLean was led right into the middle of the controversy by Sheahan. How is it that the panelists looked surprised in view of the contents of the promo? If if was a set up, who put them up to it and why? Who has been feeding stories to the media and why? What's their agenda?
  6. Fitting profile to have on a day like today when we farewell a few others considered to be generally of little or no value. Lawrence was a lowly rookie draft pick but he was a waste of time and space from the very beginning. Homesick. Low rate of effort and went back home before the year was out. Let's hope that we draft better in future.
  7. I can understand the club pushing for Goldsack because of his attributes which would be very much in line with Mark Neeld's wants as a coach. It would be perfect for Goldy as a player to be at a club where he knows he's going to get a regular game. I am hearing that Wellingham is set to go back home but if he gets a good enough offer might be tempted to either remain at Collingwood or come to a club like us. I understand we could come up with a better financial deal but, as we keep getting reminded, if your name ain't Scully, money ain't everything in footy (mind you if you've been offered the GNP of half a dozen third world countries, you would consider it)
  8. But you won't be trading anyone these days without them undergoing a medical first. In fact, nowadays in line with leading edge standards of corporate governance, you require a police check, psyche test, credit history through Dunn & Bradstreet and three personal references (including one from the player's nanny) and a clearance from ASIO and DFAT. If he passes and a trade can be organised, I'd take him irrespective of whether he can play footy.
  9. This is perfect for our requirements on a day when the price of bananas is relatively low and all is well with the world on grand final day - Hutzler Banana Slicer
  10. Tim Mohr from Casey Scorpions was one. They kept him and put him on their senior list. Similarly, Giles and Clifton, I think.
  11. Very poor coaching effort by Ross Lyon tonight. Thankfully, Garry Lyon had the insight not to follow him up after being told by his management that he was still hoping to finalise a deal with the Saints.
  12. Beamer going. Green gone. Two of the club's most experienced and Mark Neeld keeps talking about how inexperienced our team is?
  13. Controversy sucks people in and this one has certainly created a stir. No doubt it was set up. The promo for Episode 24 read like this: .However, when they were discussing Melbourne, it was Roos who used the words, "the worst thing you could say about Melbourne is that they're an irrelevant team". Clearly, the entire discussion was a set up and I agree with WJ. Brock was set up and led right into the middle of the controversy by Sheahan to be the patsy and I'm sure he's wishing he would have shut his trap by now.
  14. A team that has 14 players on the injured list, that's young and that's coming to terms with a new style of play. A team that's supposedly irrelevant. A team that supposedly developed a bad culture by allegedly tanking. So what example do Gerard Healy and Paul Roos come up with to demonstrate the point they were apparently making? A 203 centimetre Melbourne ruckman running down one of North's small men. I thought he was fantastic. Whatever people might think of Jake Spencer this was the antithesis of what these blokes set out to do on their show i.e. kick one of the AFL's clubs while they're down. Pathetic.
  15. Cook played a solid game around half forward. He's developing nicely at this level and I would expect him to get a run later in the year. Given another pre season to build up an extra 5kg and he could become a permanent fixture in the MFC forward line in the years to come.
  16. And where does the ability to dispose of the ball with skill and make good decisions when moving the ball fit into your scenario?
  17. And that is exactly the point that's being made. Neeld has virtually not had at his dissposal the three players who were last year's forward line playmakers and the team's goalkickers who have this year been able to provide minimal (about 5%) input into the team's scoring capacity compared with last year. Try the same exercise with any other team in the competition and the result would not look pretty.
  18. Looking forward to seeing Cameron Bruce and Kyle Cheney going around at Box Hill.
  19. The whole business becomes a joke when these teams like Hawthorn and Carlton rest their players against the more lowly sides. Surely, if there's ever an upset result in one of these games, the club resting players is going to be accused of draft tampering?
  20. I believe Jack Grimes only played the first half. Wondering if anyone knows whether that was planned or if he had any problems.
