Surely having a lifetime membership isn't a viable business model to keep this site running. Also, have you guys looked at utilising AWS. I currently run a site on AWS that gets at least 1000 hits a day and it costs me just under $350 a year to host and run. Don't get me wrong, love what you guys do here and with the site. But without a better subscription model, most people are either going to stay unpaid or just choose the lifetime membership and just means you don't get any annuity.

While this does make sense, where it will fall down is that the same 22 will not play every game together. I won't go into the intricate details of why its flawed, but going on your logic, a more accurate measure would perhaps be to replace 6-10 of that 22 with the next 6-10 on our list and then do your comparison. I think you'll find our depth will be where we suffer compared to those top teams.

I have a feeling, because its a public holiday, they get a public holiday too? Not sure the AFLPA will allow for players being forced to train on a public holiday in their "off season".

While I'm extremely optimistic about the future, I still have question marks over every one of those names except for Jones. Jones is a bonafide B+ midfielder. Don't even place Mckenzie into that list. Personal opinion only. But yes very much an optimistic time of year.

Interesting so far... Byrnes, Rodan, Gillies, Pederson, Dawes last year This year Michie, Tyson, (Cross), (Lyons), (Vince)... Lets put it this way: If a trade was put up for Dom Tyson for Byrnes, Rodan, Gillies and Pederson....I wouldn't take it. Quality over quantity.

Better kick than Lenny. Smooth mover. Saw the highlight reel on MFC website. Things I noted from the small amount of footage: 1. Long left foot kick. Especially the long penetrating kick to Cameron. 2. Goal kicking midfielder. 3-4 goals in less than 15 games. Only going to increase the ratio of goals to games. 3. Strong body.

While that does make sense.... What you'd actually need to do is go through every single pick from pick 20 and above for the last few years and then do some analysis of how many you'd pick. Just to name a few: Bastinac, Carlisle, Mitch Duncan, Gunston, Zaka, Beams, Hannebery, Motlop, Sloane... That's just from 2 drafts. So a pick 20 gives you the OPPORTUNITY to find one of them.

Surely hosting it on AWS is the most reliable and cost effective solution?

I have it on good authority that Rory Sloane will be playing for the Adelaide Crows next season.

A few of you are making the assumption that Roos will be a good coach for us and the extra year will be good. Doesn't always work out that a coach being good at 1 club will mean they are good at another club. ie. Dennis Pagan, John Northey, Robert Walls to name a few. Not saying he won't be, merely saying, he hasn't coached a game yet and we don't have any wins on the board

If Watts kicks 4 goals every game for the rest of his career, he'll be one of the all time greats. Just shows he's efficient

6 consecutive finals appearances with 1 premiership. Role as part of the Sydney academy (coaching and development) Good enough for me. If he can get Melbourne to play in 6 consecutive finals appearances, he's done better than Neale Daniher IMO.

The funny thing is...and as deluded as it sounds, even after the loss y'day, I feel optimistic. Here's why. We have Viney, Toumpas, M.Jones, Terlich, Clisby, Kent all being first year players. They're only going to get better next year. You have Mitch Clark who has been injured all year. Dawes didn't have a pre season. Gawn, Fitzpatrick will gain more confidence this year and will continue to develop next year. Hogan will come into the side. Watts' improvement. Trengove, Grimes are coming into that 4-6 year mark where most players make some huge improvement. Do we need a midfielder or 2 next year? Absolutely. But as I said, a strange sense of calm, even after the loss against GWS.

Umm...no. AFL players of Watts size, speed and skill level combined don't grow on trees. Granted we have always questioned his desire and intensity. But I think we'll all agree over the last few weeks we really are starting to see some change.

We be patient and wait for Trengove, Viney and Toumpas to develop more. We get one good free agent in the offseason. Add that with Grimes, Jones and Sylvia and its a lot more solid.
