  1. I'm actually a fan of Watts in general, but to have him as one of your options gave me my laugh for the day. Thanks.
  2. Perhaps, but if you're Melbourne, the more stoppage/clearances will lead to more turnovers, which will lead to the opposition scoring more Ever the pessimist.
  3. I think you'll find we will draft a midfielder. Regardless of who drops where. We will draft a midfielder. With Roos in charge of Sydney, not once did they draft a tall for their first 2 picks in five years. And in two years here he hasn't done that either. We'll either get a tall midfielder type or we'll trade to get a ready made player. Has been Roos' way every year as a head coach. I really can't see him changing his method.
  4. By the time we end up breaking some of these droughts, will it be time to put some of them back up there as it will probably take 4-5 years to break some?
  5. Something tells me, unless a lot of injuries hit, we won't ever see Bail or M Jones in the red and blue jumper again.
  6. Bye bye Bail Bye bye Matt Jones Fire sale for Jeremy Howe That is all. The turnovers, dropped marks and simple skill errors cost us dearly and were momentum killers.
  7. Kennedy, LeCras, Nic Nat, Priddis, Gaff, Hurn. If we can break even/negate those 6, we win. Very interested to see who viney and vince to go. Viney to Gaff I think Vince to Priddis TMac or Dunn to Kennedy Jetta to LeCras? And well lets just hope Nic Nat forgets how to jump
  8. So to add a bit more "reality" into it. I've actually added in the mandatory payments for 2nd year, 1st year and rookie listed players. And I've taken into account the incentive of match payments. if a player plays every game for a year, they get an extra $77,000 For that reason, for simplistic sake, I've treated it like "100K" deducted. On what I would pay/what I think they're on, I've listed it out below. N.Jones 600000 B.Vince 600000 J.Hogan 400000 T.Mcdonald 350000 L.Dunn 350000 J.Viney 350000 D.Tyson 350000 D.Cross 200000 N.Jetta 200000 J.Garlett 300000 H.Lumumba 300000 A.Brayshaw 71515 A.Vandenberg 55440 C.Dawes 400000 C.Garland 300000 J.Watts 400000 J.Howe 200000 J.Grimes 400000 C.Pederson 200000 D.Kent 150000 C.Salem 72970 J.Kennedy-Harris 62695 S.Frost 80815 M.Gawn 100000 J.Spencer 100000 M.Jamar 200000 M.Jones 80815 C.Petracca 71515 R.Bail 80815 J.Toumpas 100000 J.Trengove 100000 B.Newton 80815 B.Stretch 61610 A.Neal-Bullen 65000 A.Riley 80815 V.Michie 80815 J.Mckenzie 80815 J.Fitzpatrick 80815 D.Terlich 80815 J.Hunt 62695 M.King 55440 M.White 55440 O.Mcdonald 61610 J.Harmes 55440 Salary Cap: $9,921000 Total payments: $8,128,705 Match payments: $1,694,000 (assume 22 players x 22 games x $3500) Remaining: $98,295
  9. Geez that list would be so much more impressive if we had beaten St Kilda last week. Would have wiped off the Saints and Etihad like we wiped off Geelong in Geelong today.
  10. Geez feel sorry for the guy who has to quit his job. Also a 2nd prize to the guy who has to call his mum and say I love you.
  11. Relax relax relax. This year we've been in positions to win against: GWS, Adelaide, Port, Collingwood, St Kilda. That has us in positions to win, or have won 8 out of 11 games. There are still 11 games to go in the season. Assuming we are in positions to win 8/11 remaining, puts us up to winning 16 out of 22 games in a season. Some of us have short memories. When was the last season we've been able to win, let alone get close to 16 out of 22 games? Last year was purely bridging the gap and trying to repair some mental demons. (pardon the pun) This year is purely getting us to play so we get into positions to win. (we haven't been there for so long, so we don't know how to) Next year will be about winning 50/75% of those winnable games. Just remember, there is so much to take out of this game. I've never seen a better game out of Watts I've never seen a better game out of Toumpas Gawn, while dropped marks, looks like something Grimes looked the most confident I've seen him in about 2 years Hogan. Viney continues to improve Brayshaw. While not great games for Stretch and ANB, they'll be better for the run. Petracca, Trengove, Kent, Salem, JKH still to improve, break into this side. So now that the emotion of the heartbreak loss has subsided, lets reflect and be grateful. We are in such a better place then we were pre Roos era.
  12. Not sure, but I actually left the game in an ok mood. Sure we lost, but here's the positive spin. Collingwood scored 13 goals from our turnovers. We scored 4 goals from theirs. In a quick analysis of the game: Cloke kicked 7 straight. That never has happened, and he's rarely ever going to be that accurate. Especially the one from the boundary line. Jamie Elliot kicked an absolute beauty from the boundary line as well. Fasolo got an easy lead up mark which shouldn't have happened. As a whole Melbourne was the better side on the day IMO. We made/lost the play as opposed to being completely outplayed. In the long term, if we: Clean up our major turnovers, ie (Fitzy's brain fade, Dunn's kick out, Viney's direct turnover) Kick straight (Pederson, Howe) Get our overall turnovers down to around 5-6 goals a game Get some more experience into a group of players including: Brayshaw, Petracca, ANB, Viney, Hogan, Stretch, Tyson Draft another gem next year (given Roos hit rate so far, I'm quite confident with this) We'll be fine. The future is looking brighter than it did a while ago that is for sure.
  13. Thought I'd add this. For those wanting Viney and Jetta back this week, both were at the pre game function on Sat night and did a Q&A with some of the supporters. Essentially, Viney said, "he's 40/60 to play this week". But pretty much ruled himself out through body language. I'd be really surprised to see him listed. For those wondering about Jetta, he thinks he's ready to go, but they saw the specialist when he had the concussion two weeks ago and basically said he's had 6 concussions in the last year and a bit. Specialist said its minimum 4 weeks on the side line. So while he thinks he's good to go, the club is taking no chances on the long term health of any of their players.
  14. Lol, yes thats right, "helmets won't help". Really?!?!? Sheesh, if thats the case, make sure your kids don't wear helmets riding their bikes next time, because they cause brain to wobble more.
  15. I'd gladly take a punt on him over: McKenzie Matt Jones Terlich
  16. I think something that may being overlooked is the culture/leadership/attitude this can build amongst the group. The fact that we've supported him after he's left, similar to Clark, shows that the MFC cares about their players, their wellbeing and them as people as opposed to just numbers. This is something Roos et al have brought in and continue to work on/build. You see the clubs with good cultures, Sydney/Hawthorn in particular that will often do the best by their players, no matter where they sit on the list. I wouldn't be surprised if we brought him back as a rookie and continued to support him. This would have a flow on effect onto the rest of the team. The days where we throw our champions and leaders onto the scrap heap are gone I believe. We're doing things right. I trust the crew steering our ship these days.
  17. With our backline, I'm starting to believe any game is winnable. Brayshaw, Hogan, Michie, vandenBerg, loving them Watts was poor tonight. Feel for the guy. Was spewing at Lumumba's two handpasses that went behind the player running by. Overall, unbelievable win! Unbelievable feeling. Want more of this!
  18. That's weird, pretty sure we've provided many a laugh to the entire league since 2006.
  19. Me and a mate are stuck in night class at uni...anyone know if its being streamed on AFL.com.au? Or a live stream somewhere?
  20. Good luck to the kid. http://www.aflplayers.com.au/article/former-melbourne-rookie-on-brink-of-college-greatness/
