  1. This . . . Almost seven completed years into a rebuild and we have two finals wins to our name with a pretty good list. I must be missing sometime obviously.
  2. I must admit having thought the same thing last year. I assumed he had injury or 'other' problems for there to be such a low, industry-wide, interest in him. Inexplicable and unexplainable.
  3. Five years on $600,000? I'd love his job please.
  4. Post game Can’t believe the ruck tactic didn’t hurt us. Just shows how poor Preuss is, thank god Gawn wasn’t ready to come back. He’d have made us pay. Melbourne are so sh*t. Jeez our 2018 draft is looking better by the day. Thought it was going to be an arm wrestle for 4 quarters but serious credit to Bevo on out coaching Melbourne in the second half. Like the look of Preuss. He could play first ruck for us. English didn’t play in the middle for the entire second half. When Bevo was interviewed at half time on Fox you could tell he was ready to get into the rooms and sort some things out. Bevo is still on track for a flag from 8th on his resume. We are a better team than Melbourne even though they look great on paper. Lipinski had the most pressure applied to his touches and went at 90 something percent, best against a Melb player was Trac and he went at 50 percent. I am still a Gardner-loather. Did some ok things but nearly gave Weiderman and McDonald their Majak medals. Fortunately for us if there is one side worse than us at butchering The ball and making poor decisions, it’s Melbourne.
  5. That's what I would have thought. But have you checked the property prices in Footscray lately?
  6. Petracca - coach killing him Brayshaw - one way footballer Oliver - talent not maximised Fritsch - reliably erratic again Hibberd - replace with Rivers Lever - not what purchased May - value for money McDonald - plateaued at average Weideman - doesn't deliver consistently Langdon - good opposition exposed Tomlinson - good depth player Melksham - absolutely no leadership Pickett - man love today Lockhart - worth persisting with Viney, VDB, Harmes - same, same, same Hannan - swap for Bevo Spargo - doesn't kill opposition Sparrow - development progressing slowly Preuss - very disappointing performance Salem - disappointing under pressure Coaches - absolutely no imagination Head coach - Put on Jobseeker Bevo - Melbourne should get
  7. There is a pub in Footscray charging $100 for a steak. I kid you not.
  8. Thank god that Max Gawn isn’t playing otherwise it would be a blood bath but Preuss is still not a bad ruckman who is very strong. Gawn is significant but our ins are better. Tom Mcdonald hasnt done anything for two years. I'm sure Gardner will be nice and help him recapture that 2018 form where he kicked 7 goals in those two games against us. Pruess will eat English up and we will struggle again out of the centre in my view. If Petracca is drilling it out of the centre to McDonald it could be a long painful game where we get behind quickly. I don’t rate melbourne at all. We should win. Keath to the in form Weideman please. Not Gardner. I am worried about Gardner being in the team he will not get it as easy as last week when our midfield dominated. Tom Macdonald will be sleeping easy tonight. May has tightened up this year, Lever you can get a hold on, Bruce just needs to be accountable and naughts will destroy whos left. Keen to see Preuss against English. Surely will dominate the taps with strength but Timmy will win in impact around the ground. Melbourne's high performance manager Darren Burgess remains confident the 206cm ex-Kangaroo will be available to take on the Bulldogs, but he will be monitored ahead of Saturday's game. Looking forward to Bruce dominating this week if picked, as it sounds like all that was missing for him to tear games apart was Naughton beside him. May isn't slow, but Naughton has him covered for agility. Really small turning circle for a tall. The ultimate battle between the league's best ''flat track bullies''. I dont think Melbourne are good but I don't trust us at all. Melbourne are weak as [censored]. Richmond absolutely toyed with them. I like the idea of Lever on Naughton. Lever has been really poor pretty much his entire tenure at the Dees. Naughton I think has both May and Lever covered. May is more suited to Bruce but Lever on Naughton is a nightmare for Melbourne. Melbourne are a good developing side - they are awesome when you don't match their intensity in the middle - but the don't always appear to have much else if they aren't dominating centre square. If they get it in quick to McDonald, Weideman and Fritsch, then they could have a field day. Remember McDonald kicked 4 or 5 against us one game and Fritsch took 14 marks. If we bomb it, I’m confident May and Lever will counteract Naughton. Surely having our best two players - both better than anyone on Melbourne's list - in cracking form will be enough to tip the balance in our favour? Their midfield matches ours ok (now that Brayshaw is getting back to form) with ours batting one "good" mid deeper. I don't rate Melbourne at all. Our midfield is superior to their's and we will have a field day. Sure Oliver and Petraca have done well but against who? The Bont and Macrae racked up 70 disposals against Brisbane who have a very good midfield, and as you say who is going to stop Naughton?
  9. Has anyone actually done any good at the Frogs after being recruitment from another club?
  10. Who was the last genuine star ruckman to play in a premiership? and if you know the answer to that question . . . Who was the last genuine superstar ruckman to play in a premiership?
  11. For 55 years the club has been largely clueless . . . just like many of its supporters. I'm not sure who is mirroring the other.
  12. Up until 400 hours ago, he was the only player on Jolimont Terrace that could hit a target.
  13. His market value has completely collapsed in 24 months unfortunately. August 2018 probably worth a first round pick. August 2020 . . . ???
  14. I'm surprised anyone takes notice of him. Pretty limited insight into the modern game IMHO.
  15. Brayshaw - works effectively attacking Salem - possessions more favourable Langdon - keeps getting better Petracca - much improvement left Oliver - same as traktor May - heart in mouth Fritsch - 'looks' very good Viney - same as usual Hibberd - never sure what Preuss - market value doubled Melksham - better than Hannon??? Lockhart - continues to impress vandenBerg - very courageous player Jones - 8 to go Weideman - structurally important now Harmes - just not sure Spargo - continues to surprise Tomlinson - goodness gracious me Sparrow - 27 . . . good get McDonald - market value halving Lever - some big questions Pickett - please don't drop
  16. FWIW . . . I trawl the different opposite forums, mostly looking for patterns and themes. Oliver was not mentioned in any of the fora this week that I can recall. Most fora degenerate into 'group think' and latch on to a weekly theme. Only natural and fully human to do that I think. A significant percentage of supporters at most clubs dislike their coach, footy department, head recruiter, president/chair and the AFL. I would say most opposition supporters that voice an opinion about the Deez, voice a negative one. There is almost universal respect for Max. I think I can only remember one derogatory comment this year.
  17. Max and Pruess Grundy is gonna get thrown to the wolves if he has to face Gawn after another 4 day break. He's been playing sore for 5-6 weeks now. I’m tipping Gawn will not be 100% fit according Media reports. Gawn is even more banged up than Grundy. It's clear that Grundy is fatigued, and that Gawn is not 100%. Gawn won’t get up it looks like. That’ll hurt Melbourne a lot. Bare in mind, Preuss only hasn’t played games because he’s been behind Goldstein and Gawn! He’s no pushover! Pruess will be out to hurt Grundy. So if Gawn doesn’t play, it certainly levels the game up very quickly. Gawn hasn't been named. Scared of getting the usual bath from Grundy, I suppose. Pruess be a Poor Man Mumford by trying to Rough up Grundy. Pruess isn’t a real ruck, I actually rate him, but he’s a Mumford crash and bash type who’ll try to hurt his opponent. Grundy the only ruck option we have to match Pruess’s physicality. Everything else Melbourne will definitely believe their own hype going into this game. We must jump them early. There's plenty of talk that they're one of the fittest teams in the competition. If that's true they could definitely cause us problems late in the game. Melbourne aren't a fast side - especially their on-ballers. Thomas and Mihocek have always caused Melbourne big headaches. Could Dunn play forward? Melbourne is a genuine opponent. We need our best players on the park against them. It's Melbourne. Smash into the contest, choke their ball movement and they'll capitulate. The way to beat Melbourne is to pressure the ball carrier. Their kicking is usually quite suspect. Hopefully Maynard blankets Petrecca. Norf showed the blueprint to beat us last year. Play the man hard and we go to pieces. Melbourne don't have a great record at the Gabba. Their last 6 games there have been loses. In contrast, we have won most of our recent games there. Who plays on Petracca? Greenwood would be handy right now to play a lockdown role on him. I just hope we belt this pathetic mob on Saturday evening. Hope we lose to show what a disaster our match committee is. Let’s omit our second highest goal scorer and keep two forwards who don’t score in the team. The only thing Ben Reid brings to ground is himself in a marking contest. Worst forward in the competition.
  18. What the world haven't got its head around yet . . . slow training coming . . . The virus has exposed a deeply flawed economic and social model that prioritises excessive opportunism and profiteering at the expense of the peoples' welfare and wellbeing. The fetishisation of money over people is the allegory of the emperor's new clothes for the 21st century. We are all naked now.
  19. What does this tell us? 2019 Toby Nankervis 2018 Scott Lycett 2017 Toby Nankervis 2016 Jordan Roughead 2015 Ben McEvoy 2014 David Hale 2013 Max Bailey 2012 Shane Mumford 2011 Brad Ottens 2010 Darren Jolly
