Serious question . . . is there any player at Essendscum that would get a game at Melbourne? And if so, who is the Essendscum player/s and who would they replace at Melbourne? (And Stringer is only an option if you're prepared to throw out the no _ _ _ _ head policy.)

What, regardless of the fact we: invented the game, created the MCG, are the longest, continually registered, professional sporting club on the planet, have won the fourth most premierships in the competition's history, put onto the ground some of the greatest players and coaches in the game's history (including the coach of the 20th century) and have had to play against the umpires as well as the opposition's 18 players, for the last 58 years. It really depends on how one defines dominant really. I love being a Deez supporter. When supporters of the supposedly 'dominant' clubs get stuck into us, I simply suggest they send my a card on Thanks Giving day. After three rounds, the eight is pretty much settled I recon. With respect to the question . . . The only risk to us is ourselves. The other 17 clubs, and especially those in the top eight now, chit themselves under pressure very badly. Watch Daniher kick it out on the full from 35 yards out in front of 80 thousand on Preliminary final night at the MCG. See Libba chase kicks and neglect to man up when the momentum is against them. Buddy has an average record in big finals for a player of his standing in the game. And Duckwood will just revert to thuggery under pressure while Dangerfield will dive all over the shop. We belt (i.e. go very hard at the player with the ball), they melt.

FWIW WCW, I know someone deep on the inside at WCE. He is probably the most highly regarded player internally over the last 20 years.
