  1. Hogan, $cully and Watts are just misunderstood, Viney's disposal is good . . . his teammates just don't know where to run, Jackson is all potential, probably won't make it, Neeld should have been shifted into a head of coaching role, Daniher and Swooper under-achieved with rich talent and unlimited resources, I've got a soft spot for Eddie, Alan McAllister and Ranald MacDonald, Footscay's premiership wasn't a fluke, I'm really happy for GWS and the B#ms, The sooner Melbourne play more home games in the Territory the better, Collingwood should have beaten us in 1964 Granny.
  2. As far as i know Dieter, Matthews has never made amends to Bruns, and Bruns can't stand the sight of him.
  3. Matthews was a complete thug. Kennedy and Jeans condoned it. His reinvention as some sort of wise old father-figure in the AFL is pathetic. Says so much about the nature of institutionalised brutality and abuse that runs like a cancer throughout the industry.
  4. Look . . . let's face it . . . DR is right. He won't make it as a ruckman. We'll have to settle for 600 career goals, three B&Fs, a Brownlow, three premierships and half a dozen AAs playing a Bernie Quinlan type role across half forward. He might get the occasional tap out to a running Tracktor, who slots it from 55 metres on the boundary into a five goal headwind, but it'll be a sheer fluke rather than skilled ruck craft. Dwayne reminds me of the Executive at Decca records in 1962 upon rejecting The Beatles . . . "we think guitar music is going out of style". Absolutely clueless (on a good day).
  5. I remember all these arguments for and against teams being established in foreign territory in 1980 when South moved to Sydney. 40 years on and the jury is well and truly in. The same will apply for the Bums and the Greater Waste of Resources. The AFL will have a timeline that is measured in decades, not years, for them to work. So far as Tassie goes, see george_on_the_outer's post on page one of this thread.
  6. It continues to be somewhat of a relief that Melbourne's chronic ineptitude of a decade ago has rivals as we head into a new decade in the form of Norff, Filth, the Chardonnay Sippers and off course the gift that keeps on giving, Essenscum.
  7. Think you might be giving "shambles" a bad wrap CDP. The Filth and Norff are an example "shambles" this year. We were the dictionary definition of diabolical ineptitude bordering on the criminally insane.
  8. If Stevens said this, then I definitely know, without a shadow of a doubt, it's a certainty that the 'AFL coaching fraternity' probably have never heard of Egan.
  9. She was also the first person with the title Prime Minister/Chairman/Premier/President/Chancellor (i.e. Head of Government) to use the term 'global warming'.
  10. I humbly admit I was wrong. For 47 years I thought Melbourne supporters were different to those of other clubs. Although we have been, in the main, inept for those years, I thought we had the capacity to show some dignity, respect and, for most of us at least, unconditional love for the institution and by implication, its players. But I was in denial and delusional. What I have learnt from this thread is that many are just as egotistical, righteous, ignorant, envious and insecure bully(boys) as other clubs' supporters and those in the broader community. Oscar is not the enemy, just the mirror. It would serve some to cease projecting their own inner demons (pun not intended) on a soul who gave his best and take a deep look inside their hearts and take stock of their own defects of character. The MFC would be better served, and by implication, the broader society, if we appreciated people like Oscar who's been nothing but a demonstration of grace, decency and commitment.
  11. You're a genius Lampers. wanna come and work for me?
  12. Don't worry about the Filth friends, they're clearing salary cap space to come after Oliver. Anyway, I wouldn't be too smug. We signed a coach for four years who can't get us into finals, a centre half forward for four years on 700K who runs around in the 11:10am game and we've just signed Viney, a player who can't consistently hit a target from 25 metres, and with a questionable medical history, for five years. Watch that one turn to sh&t.
  13. Most clubs in the comp are poorly coached, and/or administered. On that basis: the Filth definitely miss whilst Punt Road make it again. Moorabool Street are well administered to a point, but poorly coached. So vulnerable. Alberton is run by a nut job and the coach, although a top bloke, is not outstanding. So at risk. Vulture Street were chronically off the pace in the preliminary and had a remarkable home ground advantage throughout the season. Daniher is a bucket bet at best. Sell down. Roberts Road is well run, by and large, have a good home ground advantage, and is reasonably coached. They make it. Linton Street have a 124 year history of shooting themselves in the foot . . . so stand clear everyone. At best they are 50/50. Barclay Street have been poorly coached for a number of years, and despite the hype, have failed to deliver in any meaningful way for the last four years. Won't make it. So, my prediction . . . only three make it and none of the bottom eight from 2020 are good enough to rise up.
  14. Exactly the sort of player the Dogs don't need. They are in real trouble and 2016 is looking more and more like an aberration.
  15. More like our main sponsor. Looks good from the outside and runs well for five minutes, then completely sh*$s itself under load and usually a long way from town (Cairns).
  16. Wow . . . lots of envy on here from a joint that has been extraordinarily well run for close to 20 years. Good on them for maximising their natural advantages and negating their disadvantages. If only we had the right people in the right roles at the right time . . .
  17. We'd have a premiership or two within a few years. She'd take no cr%p from City Hall, eat Kennett for breakfast and wouldn't even bother pi22ing on Eddie. They'd be some perceived heavy hitters moved on internally, and Europe would be our new academy zone.
  18. If this is the best he can come up with . . . . . . I'd rather read the insights provided by 'Landers.
  19. Is there any reason why he can't be the depth ruckman?
  20. Dear God, please don't let Mr Taylor read D'Land. Amen. QD.
  21. Truth is, they've one one flag every 11 years on average for 45 years. In the period, that record is only bettered by Carlscum, and Horethorn.
  22. Good get Cards. Four flags in 45 years for a club with limited resources is a marvellous effort.
  23. I can't wait for Hardwick to tell Grimes, "FFS, pick up Brown". The dumb ba*&@#d runs to Mitch Brown, Ben kicks six and we win by a goal.
