  1. Best of luck with the new arrival Ron. Hope he sees plenty of success in the future years.
  2. Why? nothing really changes, the evidence remains the same and is how a court will see it. IMO a two front attack from the media with the Essendon/Dank inquiry and Melbourne taking any tanking/disrepute charges being brought before the court.
  3. Re Jobe I will be [censored] if the Chas gets stripped and handed to Cotchin, as I was in line for some decent schillachos had he won and I have torn up the ticket
  4. It's not about the memberships, if it was we wouldn't be there it is about the money plain and simple It's not about me being happy it's about seeing the reason for the move into NT
  5. Welcome aboard American Demon, great to be attracting a new member in tough times. I had to wait 7 years to see us play finals, hope you only have to wait 7 months
  6. WYL FFS how many people have to tell you it's not about the memberships. Casey is our membership strategy, NT at this stage is about money and about building the club. It takes several things to make a club strong and everything fits in to the puzzle, 2 games a year by 2015 does not bother me if we get $1.4 million a year for it, thats 1 decent sponsor a year, annual training camps in the North and PR camps with the kids and forming partnerships with the NT Government and maybe NT Tourism board jumps on as a sponsor similar to Hawks with Tassie. That all means greater revenue for the club, to allow us to maintain a proper footy department with a view to achieving and maintaining sustained success/finals appearances & that is where the members will come from. It's not all black & white and as for the heat, whilst I live in Perth & have spent time in the North West I agree it can be energy sapping but good sides will always find a way to win. If we are going to agree to play two games in NT a year I would want two guarantees from the AFL our bye to be a week after one of these games and whilst it kills me to say this living in Perth a second guarantee of only 1 road trip to Perth every season.
  7. Not sure on this, had I not seen Hogan play in the colts finals last year for Claremont with my own eyes followed by us snaring him via mini draft I would have said yes get him at all costs. Hogan is yet to play a league game but I left the prelim final game thinking whoever gets this kid is getting something special to build a team around. IMO with Hogan and Clark as main KPF'S by 2015/16 and Dawesand Howe playing supporting roles we seem sorted with forwards. For me and again its just MO if I could grab any player coming into 2014 it would be Cotchin, I believe by 2015 he will be entering the prime of his career and will replace Ablett as the number 1 in the league. Having said that there is always new kids on the block who come from nowhere but as for Buddy will he ever get back to 2008 form when he grabbed the season by the scruff of the neck.
  8. Cheers once again for all the reports fellow Dees. Two things which make me happy with several reports With the season getting closer intensity seems to be lifting It appears Viney just has what you can't train a willingness to keep going and when you think he is done back for more. I know we have been hearing this about him for a few years but greatto hear he appears to be carrying it over the senior footy Once again thanks feeling positive but also apprehensive as season is getting closer. All part of the journey
  9. It's something Carlton & Richmond used to do, but that's not important right now
  10. This exercise is always difficult and an absolute stab in the dark. Only throwing it out there so I can see how far off I was come September. Pies - Still have a lot of class IMO and should be hurting from last year Hawks - Still number 1 on their day. As above but last 2 years will really burn, If Lake stands up releases pressure on Gibson and Schoenmakers Swans - Because they are the Swans/Bloods always there and we will say come Round 16/17 what about Sydney they are sitting in Top 4 quietly Dockers - Ross Lyon factor although hearing rumours Mundy & Fyfe are struggling to get out on the track confirmation of this will change my opinion Blues - 2011 had them 1 step away from being one of the Top 4, now with Malthouse's defensive mindset I see them as the climbers this year Eagles - Nic Nat struggling extra workload on Dean Cox. Lecras back is a bonus although they are heavily reliant on old heads of Glass & Kerr Crows - Still Solid, Tippet gone but he was not a big factor, the draw of 2012 was easy but midfield is still classy with Thompson, Sloan & Dangerfield, Walker stepped up in 2012. Tigers - Still not sold on them but split between them and the ageing Cats, history tells me two changes to the 8 at least most years so go Tigers ----------------------- Cats - Ageing list will win plenty of games at Kardinia and show glimpses of their past, but Rivers is not Scarlett and the older heads showed signs last year the end is near North - Will show glimpses of form but I only see them as an average side at best and for me will always be around 7th to 12th. Tougher draw this year Dees - Expect improvement and a harder edge and may be biaised putting us above Lions & Bombers Lions - Have rebuilt well since trying to recruit older players to fill holes. Like their coach will be hard to beat and will win their fair share of games Bombers - The honeymoon is over blow torch to be turned on the golden child with Thomo to take over in 2014 Saints - Just think the time has come for a clean out and they were up for a long time Power - They have some talent and will provide nuisance value but IMO a fair way off Suns - I seen them take a few strides forward in the second half of the season and will snare some surprise wins but like Port still a way off Dogs - Finished the second half of last season terribly and look to be heading were we were in 2007 Giants - Second year will be tougher for them and whilst they have some grunt in the players they targetted the opposition know a bit more about them now
  11. I'll trust the club to have him on the programme they feel is right. Good luck to Ollie seemed like a nice kid but any chance we can for once not go down the line of the guy we didn't pick is doing this.
  12. I have not seen Viney or Toumpas yet play an AFL game but consider them and Mitch Clark off limits, but Richmond would not target Clark. Cotchin to me is worth a hell of a lot and there isn't much I would not give up for him. IMO he is a genuine star in the making and is next in line to take the mantle as Number 1 player in the competition.
  13. I agree with you WA Demon another uninformed comment from an agitator. Current Board of Rosich & Harris are very unpopular in the Port City with a lot of members & supporters
  14. Probably his personal pride C & B, pretty sure the young guys of 84-86 copped plenty of hammerings which made them enjoy the years after 86 that little bit more.
  15. CC was a good player with good skills and as others said was coming into his own before he was struck down with the knee injury. Without the injury CC would have been a vital part in that side which blossomed under Swooper
  16. Once again cheers to all for the updates They both smashed out a bunch of push ups which Toumpas did with ease compared to Hogan who was a little slowerThey both smashed out a bunch of push ups which Toumpas did with ease compared to Hogan who was a little slower Just in regard to the above, without being critical would expect this as having seen Hogan in the flesh he is pushing a fair bit up even at his age
  17. These are IMO the worls best fans (probably biased) and if you think the Dees fans are used to losing and winning nothing try supporting Ireland, only thing we could win is a world cup at drinking. This clip was taken towards the end of a 4-0 loss to Spain in European Championships
  18. Not so sure about all other clubs playing other songs before games, Meth Coast & Freo don't. Both have pre game entertainment with Mascots heading around the boundary, before running out to their club songs. If they win they both play their club songs, before playing Eagle Rock by Mondo Rock for Meth Coast TNT by AC/DC for Freo Not keen on big change but if the club is going down this road Highway to Hell AC/DC would be my choice even though allegedly the song is about a road in Perth (Freo to be exact), think we could take meaning of Hell being hopefully what opposition sides will face on the field once we sort ourselves out
  19. Really got to feel for the kid, absolute tragedy, nice kid and really dedicated. David Parkin was only on the radio yesterday saying how he had some discussions with Morabito during his rehab and he had known him from the age of 15 when he assisted his(Morabito's) local club Harvey Bulls in tough times. Parko spoke of how positive Morabito had been during his rehab. I know from speaking with recruiters in WA that halfway through 2009, Trengove had not really shown much an we all know how well he finished off the year. At that stage I was told Scully and Morabito would be heading to Melbourne if we managed to get a priority pick. Well we all know what happened with OUR FUMBLING managing to get us a priority pick and now we end up with Trengove and neither Scully or Morabito at the Dees. Just hope somehow the kid can lift himself again and get through this latest setback. In full flight he is a joy to watch.
  20. Howe to benefit from 2 mobile gorillas in the forward line, he is not the type of third forward you want your weakest backman on and he will also benefit from being fitter. Not going to nominate anyone for a down year want to see competition everywhere
  21. Cheers for all the updates Dlanders very much appreciated. Heading into the home straight now before NAB Cup thank christ for that the off season can't end quick enough for me. God I miss the footy
  22. East Perth for the Meth Coast recruits and Peel for the Dockers. I believe he may play a role though if Embley is injured. Can't see him standing out but you never know confidence is a big thing and whilst not possesing the mongrel required enough of their side does and he does have good skills when his confidence is up
  23. Good to see, the Casey move and the current supporters getting their off spring on board, along with some succesful years is what will keep this club alive
