Who was high fiving at the start of the year? As I remember it there were one or two fools who thought we could be top 4 and the rest of us shot them down for being stupid. Most people thought we would be around 7th -10th on the ladder. Didn't read after there as I noticed how long it was going to be.
-
Really? Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. We beat them by 90 points.
-
even at the start of the year you were pessimist.

taken from the bigfooty phantom (early run) 16: Jackson Paine (Sandringham Dragons) 194cm, 87 kg. Interesting tall with a lot going for him. He's got the height you want in a genuine kpp, and while he's not Jon Patton, he's already looking like developing a strong body. Hands good above his head, particularly one-out, is perfectly capable of ripping apart a weaker opponent once he gets on top. While I'm not sure about his raw pace, for such a big bloke he is very balanced and turns quickly - he lays a lot of tackles, and a kpf who can do that is like gold these days in the age of forward presses - too often the talls just lumber around helplessly and don't contribute much. Works hard, lots of 1%ers. He's also a surprisingly good crumber, from his own marking or from other people's. Very good bloke to have isolated one-out in the goalsquare while the rest of the defense stresses about keeping an eye on Watts. For all his size (and he'll be a monster when he fills out) in my book he's a smarts and finesse player rather than relentless runner who blows his opponents up or a pure strength/speed lead-mark-shoot type, and as such I think he and Watts will complement each other well. The other string to his bow is his ability to play as a 'gorilla' defender. He was just exceptional there against VC in the pre-champs trial match, and I reckon this aspect of his game is really underestimated. With a bit of experience he could be a genuine dual-position kpp swingman, and there aren't all that many of them going around.

Casey Scorpions in VFL First Qualifying Final
BAMF replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Games on ABC. Any live streams that anyone knows about? Tasmanian state leauge showing here in hobart. -
It's hard to rate, as he has clearly been playing injured or not quite right. His stats look ok - good. But if you watch him closely in games he lacks determination to chase hard and do the 1%'s. I put it down to injury myself. I honestly don't really care if he stays or goes now. Two first extra first round picks next year would be great. Depends how bad his knee is. And no one on here knows so its all pure speculation and guesswork.
-
First you say Butcher is unlikely but then say you want to target Goddard? What makes you think he would even think about coming over to us?
-
You can trade rookies. Mumford was a rookie when traded from Geelong to Sydney. Mahoney probably knows that we will be active because some of our players haverequested a trade.(my guess)
-
I like the idea. Is it the first AFL game at the ground ever? Would add to the significance of the event.

Jeff Kennett Interview on SEN Last Saturday
BAMF replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
5 decades? It was only a just over a decade ago that they were up [censored] creek and were going to merge with us! It does show that with good management clubs can turn things around. But Jeff has only been there for 5 years. Most of the hard work was done before he got there. Selling out 4 games to Tasmania brought in a heap of money. Also, I think a lot of people at the Hawks will like to see the back of him. But yes, he does have the guts to tell it like he see's it which I like. The problem is he like to tell you everytime he forms an opinion on absolutely anything. -
Jeff Kennett Interview on SEN Last Saturday

Meh. Jeff often says good things. It's usually followed up by some complete rubbish which makes me think he is a bastard. Loves to make himself look good and make the afl look bad. -
He is probably checking out houses like Rick Petterd did last year.
-
Unfortunately I agree with you Nasher. Will be stoked if he can prove us wrong. He did play exceptionally well on the weekend though. Hope he can keep it up. Will be a big year for him next year. Edit: Interesting to note that FanFooty.com had Harbrow minding Jetta and not the other way around. I rate Harbrow.
-
Loved his work in the second half today. He and Jetta still flow in and out of the game a bit too much for mine. I guess he was tagging Matera. Jetta was really good on Harbrow when the game was there to be won.
-
I'm with you nasher. Yeah today wasn't great. But we still won. The players want the season to end. We have lost our coach. And we didn't thump Gold Coast. We still won and their were positives to come out of it. Namely Blease and McDonald.
-
Some posters on here are a disgrace. How about you support the players for once? We won by 30 points. We played a couple of kids in McDonald and Mcnamara. I'm happy that we won. Shame that others on here are such pessimists.
-
Far out. Nice win! I have to admit. I love the sound of Fev playing in the AFL again. KC who from Casey will be looked at being drafted? Mohr, Wall and Matthew all a chance?
-
In an ideal world we would have recruited talls first and mids later. Our recruiting dept decided that the tall's in the 07,08,09 drafts were not great so picked mids instead. Looking at our backline Frawley and Garland are good against most opposition, but we do struggle when there are multiple big bodied talls. (Collingwood, Hawks, West Coast) We do have Cook, Fitzpatrick, McDonald, Gawn and Davis coming through the reserves. I honestly think we need to recruit another big bodied key forward and maybe another tall defender. After all, not all of the recruits will make it.
-
Really? Thats a shame. Some do look a bit iffy. I cant find any documentation that they are fake though.
-
Cant believe this thread is still going. There a few people on here saying 'if the right deal came along we should do it' Well of course if we win out of the trade we should. But Pettards current trade value is far below what he is truly worth. He is a match winner when on song. And how many games has he played? his best is in front of him. What do you think a club would pay for Ricky at this point? If you think its anything more than a mid second round pick you are dreaming. Why don't we just keep him and let him develop into the potential match winner he could become?
-
That is awesome. But its nothing compared to the NFL Fantasy Files.
-
He is injured. Check last weekends Casey matchday threads. He didn't even start the game last week. Might explain why he is playing in the reserves recently.
