When Bailey has a meeting with Jim to see how the team is progressing, then yes I imagine they talk about KPI's. They don't just say 'Well Dean. Your not winning, therefore your doing a bad job. End of story' Yes. KPI's are not the be all and end all. But they do give us 'some' indication of where we are winning, where we are improving and where we are losing. I reckon we could go on like this for awhile. So i'm going to stop now. Feel free to have the last word if you like. I really like this thread. I cant believe there was an option for choosing ten teams in the final series. I also cannot believe that 16.5% of fans supported a 10 teams in finals. Imagine finishing 10th out of 18 for the year and winning the grand final! It's bad enough that it could potentially happen if you finish 8th!

But you said we have to go for it every year. Recruiting mature players at the end of this year will give us a better shot at winning the flag next year. Therefore, by your reasoning, we should recruit mature players. After all. According to you. 5 year plans are crap. We could find out in 5 years time that the game has changed and the young players we could have recruited this year will be redundant. Imagine if this happened at the end of the Blues game. Rubbish. If this were the case then i suppose you think we should recruit Brendon Fevola at the end of the year? After all it will give us a better shot at winning the flag next year. But then in a few years time we will lose him to retirement and be left with Cook who has not had enough experience to deal with the big league. Do you think we should have kept Yze, White, White, Travis Johnstone, Robbo, Whelan and Wheatley instead of bottoming out and bringing in young players? After all, they would have given us a much better chance at winning a flag over the last few years. And you state that winning and losing is the only thing that matters and that KPI's are crap. But how do you win games? Do you just win them? No. You win the KPI's which then win you the games.

I think your missing the point Benno. Gold Coast are even younger than us. And have way less games between them. Yet they managed to take on a top team and play some good attacking footy.

He will be on our VET list by the time he comes out of contract. We will easily match whatever port will offer. Not going anywhere.

I don't see why we don't have a 3rd mostly red strip. I know that Schwab didn't see the point in it. But we needed it on the weekend. I don't really give a damn about clash strips or not though. I would prefer us to wear our traditional top, but as long as I get to see us play and as long as there is no clash I don't care.

Is Gawn really ready? I haven't seen any Casey games this year so i'm genuinely asking for your opinion. Gawn was playing Casey 2's only a few weeks ago and is coming off some big injuries for such a big man. Is he really ready or would we be just rushing him in because we are so short of ruck options?

Also look where there senior players are positioned. Full Forward, Ruck, Full Back, Inside Mid, Outside Mid. They have great leadership spread around the ground.

It was a great game! Game was played at a frantic pace. Mclean looked slower than ever. I honestly thought he would be decent for Carlton when fit. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong though. B)

Yeah Smith was in my plans. Settled for Puopolo from the hawks in defense. Been playing well and Hawks have a heap of injuries back there. Not sure if Hibberd will continue to keep his position. Good luck to young Evans. Thought Nicholson would have got the upgrade to replace Bail, seeing as Nicholson has been playing pretty much the same role in VFL. Hopefully he is not too far away either.

Look at the players in the forward line. Petterd, Watts, Jurrah, Wonnamerri, Newton, Maric. I doubt there is 200 games between them. Last years stats show that when we got the ball inside the 50 we scored quite well from our opportunity's. Besides. I believe its more the quality of the midfield and the delivery provided that is more of an issue. I'm not saying that Mahoney is a good assistant. I have no idea. But neither do you. I would be surprised if anyone here would be involved in the club enough to know.

I'm glad that he is at the point where he deserves his spot. I know he has filled out a bit, his arms are a good size. But he really does need a lot more size through his chest and shoulders. One more pre-season should do it.

Exactly. It's strange how no one on here was saying how good a coach Bailey was last week. After all. The West Coast game was all his fault. But the Adelaide game was only because of the media scrutiny? Josh Mohoney is a [censored] coach because he was an average player. But Scott West and Todd Viney are the best because they were awesome players. Starts getting old after awhile.

I think we are a chance against the Saints. Will need some leadership though.

Thats right. It was a loss. But it wasn't the end of the world like one or two of the posters on here are taking it. This was never going to be our year. And once again we were beaten by norths midfield. Add Scully, Trengove, Jamar and McKenzie and you can see that we are on the right path.
