Such a great footballer and it was laughable to suggest he should be dropped after spending a year on the sidelines.
-
Hard to vote when we played so poorly but I just want to give props to Bartram who continues a remarkable form turnaround by doing a great job on Brent "whinging [censored]" Harvey.

We went into the game a couple of goals down with the decision of replacing Jordie, a defensive runner with Rivers. We lost run and a player capable of winning the ball. Why Bail didn't replace Jordie I don't know, but we didn't need Rivers. Mind you, it was Macdonald who played an absolute shocker. He was terrible and we simply cannot play both he and Rivers together. Too little accountability and very little defensive execusion. Dunn is the other "footballer to the tip. We know he is no good and it's time he made way for Bail/Jetta/Morton when ready etc. He makes shocking decisions and gives us little in return. Bruce is Bruce. I've given up wasting my anger on him and those in charge of selecting him each week. Disgusting game. We had no idea how to combat North's flooding (they are a shocking team to watch!) for a half and when we worked it out it was too late. We then went on to make some shocking 2008-style decisions and everything fell apart. Just goes to show how important confidence is to a young team.

Why does the North Melbourne football club own us?
Jaded No More replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Because we can't play against mediocore teams that play defensive flooding rubbish. May North continue on their journey to nowhere and may somebody burn down Etihad. Crap team, crap stadium, crap game. Moving onto next week now... -
That is the textbook definition of keeping a lid on it

How about Dean Cox's answer... "Mark Le Cras' girlfriend"!

Everything about Trengove feels right (But Grimsey has nothing to worry about )
-
In his first game I accidentally called Trengove "Trenny", and now I can't get it out of my head, so everytime he gets the ball I yell out "go Trenny" and it feels kinda wrong
-
Too much money to produce for not enough sales volume. The way the club has been communicating with us online costs them virtually nothing and does the job because it is accessible to everyone.
-
So I have one of those 16 games membership which entitles me to free entry, but seating on level 3 at Etihad is akin to watching a game of footy from Mars. My question is, does anyone know how much it costs to upgrade these general entry tickets to level 1 tickets? I would check but I'm at work and my membership cards are at home.

We are better off without him, and because he didn't come to us we are now probably on par with Carlton given they have lost Fev and that their backline is nowhere near as good as ours (and we have arguably gained players who are as good if not better than Gibbs, Murphy and Kruezer). I don't doubt that you know him, or that your story is true, but if Judd wanted a flag above all else, he would have gone to Collingwood because they were the most advanced in the premiership race and probably still are. The addition of Judd would have almost certainly helped them win a flag, whereas I think the loss of Kennedy has seriously damaged Carlton's chances, especially in light of Fev's departure. Either way, the universe was working for us with the Judd situation. We lost nothing and won plenty, so he can enjoy playing for scum of the earth and I'll enjoy our rapid development.

Can't believe Jackson-Dunn-Trengrove won this week's nomination ahead of Jack Trengove. Utter disgrace! (Well done JT, you gun!)

I still hold high hopes that Garland will become a key forward one day, which possibly opens up a spot for Rivers. But for now, Rivers has no spot in the backline, because he is competing with MacDonald who is in good form (he is not in direct competition with Garland IMO as they are completely different players and Garland is far more versatile than Rivers). Further to this, Rivers is not in competition with Martin who is a ruckman/forward. If you drop Martin you go into a game with one too many defenders, and one too few ruckman, so it's ludicrous to suggest that one will make way for the other.

Beamer is the perfect example of the impact the arrival of Scullgove has had on the team. He and Jones are loving the fact that they are no longer required to win the ball all on their own. McKenzie is partly responsible for that too. Amazing how quality players can make everyone around them that much better!
-
We have to play Martin and be willing to throw him down back if one of their rucks starts to rip the game apart. I'd have McKenzie on Harvey. Great learning experience plus I'd love to see Jordie nail that diving princess into the turf a few times. Dunn is not quick enough for Harvey, and for that reason I would contemplate dropping him for this week, although it would be harsh given his recent form (and his stellar job on Brennan on Saturday). As long as we maintain our tackling pressure and win our fair share of the ball in the middle, I'm confident we can win. Our defense should hold up well against theirs, so even if they shut the game down, we could still prevail. The smaller ground will probably suit our small mobile forwardline. A very good test for us this week.

Tom Scullys first goal - Youtube
Jaded No More replied to Trengove_is_God's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's not how many touches he had, it's the class of those touches. His hands are just crazy, and his run significantly helped us pressure the scoreboard. He is having an impact on games already, which is something to marvel at given he is half the size of most players out there. -
Obviously not, that would just be stupid, but pushing Carlton out of the 8 by winning and them getting done over by Geelong would have just been sweet icing on the cake. Never mind though, I'd rather beat them in Round 11
-
I LOATH Carlton. Seriously, somebody just kill that club!
-
Question is, do we lose out if we play in a shut-down contest? We have a very good defense, and we don't really rely on kicking huge scores given our forwardline is a bit makeshift. In a tight contest, like the one we experienced with Adelaide, I'm not sure we won't come up winners. It's shoot-outs which scare me, because it's rare for us to be able to find enough avenues to kick big scores. Although as usual, if we can get our fair share of ball in the middle, we'll do fine. Gotta shut down Harvey as well (hate that [censored]!).

Third week in a row now that I have lost my voice completely. I sound like somebody slashed my vocal chords. Good to have big crowds again, but sitting in my reserved seating, I always feel a slight sense of anger towards the people who have suddenly started turning up again. Where were you in the last two years?
-
Laughable to suggest we drop Garland. It was a miracle that he is even playing football, and if it takes him 12 months to regain full form and confidence then so be it. He is a big part of our future, so big in fact that I'd rate him in our top 10 most important players, and therefore he has to be given as much game time as possible to continue to develop and gain experience. After 12 months out of the game, I thought he did some very good "trademark Garland" things, and was nowhere near soundly beaten. How many goals did that [censored] Staker kick on him? Garland is starting 18 every single week, and will remain so for the next 10 years. He ain't getting dropped. Move on.

Nothing would be better than smashing Carlton this year, and making sure we rub Judd's, McLean's and Warnock's faces in it. If we only have on victory from here on it, please let it be over that pack of scumbags!

NOW Trengove will get a Rising Star nomination
Jaded No More replied to Eth's topic in Melbourne Demons
Who is slow? Trengove? They are both quick. Obviously Scully is a jet, but Trengove has plenty of speed, and has elite endurance as well. -
No change. You can't possibly not reward the players who put in an amazing effort to smash Brisbane, especially when there were no weak links last night.
-
I'm actually ashamed of the way I went off at that decision last night (the F word was flying freely). Apologies for anyone who has to sit around me at the footy. I'm insufferable at the best of the times, but that nearly pushed me over the edge. DISGUSTING decision, and against my boy Jack too!
