  1. Any idea why Grimesy isn't playing?
  2. I would never expect a top 20 pick for him.
  3. I wonder why the packaging gets done on shore, when clearly the crap that gets packaged is made off shore? That creates double freight costs I would have thought, but supply chain management is not my favourite subject so I'm sure it makes some sense.
  4. Exactly. Not only is Sylvia struggling to make an impact on the field, he is not following team rules off it. He is not such a precious commodity that he can be afforded any sort of leniency, especially given his priors. Move him along before he loses whatever small currency he has left in the market.
  5. And here I was, trying to be nice and diplomatic :D
  6. Terrible news for Jamar, who for the first time in his career was poised to really grab a hold of that number one ruck position, but every challenge brings an opportunity. Spencer getting promoted can only be a good thing for the future of our ruck division.
  7. This is not about pointing the finger or blaming anyone, I just don't think anyone really needs to scroll through endless pointless posts when they open such an important topic (or any topic for that matter).
  8. I'll look into it, however if you (or anyone else) have a particular issue with a thread I suggest you PM us, as opposed to creating a new topic which is unlikely to interest anyone and simply clogs up the board. It's possible that we all quickly browsed the thread, without reading it in great detail and hence we missed any offensive comments, but I assure you that any unsavory statements made towards any of our players will be deleted. Edit: I note that the only person making offensive comments has been banned (following some other misdemeanors), however in the interest of saving others from wasting their time reading crap, I did delete the posts in question.
  9. Could we possibly not ruin this perfectly good thread with personal tantrums? I have deleted the relevant posts, so if you want to continue your personal chat I suggest you get a room. Thanks you.
  10. Exactly. So you got St.Kilda merchandise instead, big deal. A simple phone call to the club will get this fixed, and in the meantime you can enjoy burning and destroying Saints stickers/pens/lanyards. I'm sure the guy packaging this stuff in China doesn't know what a cardinal sin it is to send a Melbourne member merchandise that belong to another club, but for the 5 cents an hour he earns, we can't expect much more. I rather 80 people get the wrong package (given it gets fixed of course), if it means we can get the packages done cheaply on mass. Anyone who has ever had to deal with any sort of outsourcing, particularly offshore, will realise that faults is the price you have to pay for getting things done in a cost effective way. This is not the club's fault, and is beyond their control.
  11. What fantastic news to kick start our season. A huge thank you to HANKOOK for coming on board and helping our great club on its way to once again becoming a force in the competition. GO DEES!
  12. Come on, the team was made up mostly of kids, and going by the size of the inner circle, most of them have never experienced a win in a Melbourne jumper. There is nothing wrong with a bit of team spirit, and letting the boys enjoy a good win can only be good for morale.
  13. Unfortunately Target already sponsors Geelong (and when I was doing some work at their head office in September, they played the Geelong theme song on the PA system quite regularly ). I did however have a chat with their marketing manager and suggested that they should look at sponsoring Melbourne too, as to not alienate their Melbourne consumers... needless to say he was less than impressed with my idea.
  14. Robbo is doing the advertising for them. His picture, dressed in a Jeff Banks suit, was plastered on just about every tram in the East Brighton area in the last year. As far as I know, most clubs have a formal-wear sponsor (Peter Jackson with the Dogs and Carlton etc...), just as every club has a matchday-wear sponsor.
  15. We are clearly rotating some players and resting them systematically. Note how Bate didn't play last week, but is in this week. Excellent news about Rivers. Let's hope he can get through more than just 5 minutes of game time
  16. Yep. I've downloaded heaps of different ringtones and no charge. You don't have to register any details such as your phone number, so they couldn't possibly charge you. It's like when you download a free app. and you don't get charged. All it does is download the 20/30/40 second bit of the song into itunes in the form of a ringtone. You then have to make sure you sync it with your iphone, go to setting and choose your ringtone.
  17. Awesome! By the way, for those who have an iphone and want to get the Melbourne song as their ringtone, go to http://audiko.net/ringtone/AFL+Club+Theme/.../858990/be.html and click on "Download ringtone for iphone". That site is actually pretty awesome and you can find just about any song and download it as a ringtone for free, or make your own.
  18. I've done a bit of work with Globe through my uni course, and there is no way that they could afford to become a major sponsor of an AFL club. They are not large enough, nor will it be a wise financial investment for them.
  19. This just goes to show that as a club, we are not to blame for Judd's decision to go to Carlton. He is a soulless [censored] (as is Warnock*), and Carlton have the means to cheat and bribe players away from other clubs (be it a rich club like Collingwood, or a poor club like ours). *Suck on it hard Carlton, we have Spencer who cost us virtually nothing, while you are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for an overrated, underachieving, injured beanpole! :D
  20. Thank you all for the updates. Just how bad is Meesen, or has he actually shown some glimpses of ability?
  21. All Colin Sylvia is missing is a 70's porn mustache, what with that dirty look he has going on <_<
  22. The amount of West Coast supporters I know who started following the club thanks to Ben Cousins, or Hawthorn supporters who became fans thanks to Buddy (*vomit*), is astounding. Thankfully we have a number of rather attractive players who, if marketed correctly, could really draw in those young females, who also happen to belong to one of the highest-spending consumer groups in Australia. While it sounds like a terrible reason to start supporting a club, the fact is that sex sells, and we shouldn't be afraid to promote some of our players as young, sexy and single. It will cost us virtually nothing, and could pay off in a big way (think calendars, fashion shows, player review nights etc...)
  23. If our club is smart, they'll market him to female supporters. That boy certainly has the right look to attract a whole wave of new female fans... Shame he's so young...
  24. I had a burst ear drum many years ago, and the only treatment I received was antibiotics. The ear drum does eventually heal itself, but in the meantime you have to keep it away from water and such. And no, it had no impact on my balance.
  25. So there was a reason to get excited afterall! And yes, Spencer was seriously fantastic. He looks like he is going to be your typical awkward giant, but he isn't. Best part about his game for me was the aggression. He has a bit of nasty in him, which is something our other ruckmen seriously lack. Jamar and Meesen (is he still alive?) should be [censored] themselves right about now.
