  1. Why don't we deserve the credit? Dogs and Pies weren't flat, they were pressured into making mistakes because we hunted them. Just like last week North hunted us and won. We are actually not a bad team. I know it's hard to comprehend and I forget that sometimes, but we are in a much better position than a large majority of clubs because we have a lot of uncapped potential and talent. When we can play on our terms, we are right up with in terms of ball movement. Imagine what a forwardline could do for us...
  2. But he had no problems paying the [censored] deliberate against poor Frawley in the most difficult of conditions. Don't get me started on McBurney. I'd punch his face in if I could. Please, let's not make excuses for these people. It is THEIR JOB for which they get paid to make decisions based on clearly set out rules. Nobody will complain about missed head high tackles or throws, but blatant frees which they miss or worse of all, decisions they pay which are soft and have huge consequences on the game, are unacceptable. They deserve to be named and shamed and I hope the boundary umpire who overruled those goals never umpires again. Somebody has to make these people accountable, because I'm starting to think that umpiring is the only profession in Australia that lets you get away with terrible performances.
  3. We have guys in the team who have played over 200 games and make worse turnovers by foot. If Scully never improves beyond this point (which he obviously will, especially in terms of body strength), he will still become an elite midfielder.
  4. Spectacular goal from Bennell. Oh for Jurrah and Aussie instead of slow spuds who can't pick the ball up off the deck and kick... not mentioning any names
  5. As someone who plans things for a living, I am utterly shocked that people can be this [censored] at their job and still get paid. Why not dress the umpires in Melbourne jumpers next week... maybe it'll help them pay a decision in our favour for once!
  6. If we are on we can beat any team, I truly believe that, but we will have off days and make mistakes and concede a couple of quick goals and lose in the dying minutes of a game, and as Bailey said, we will learn from that and be better for it. I have never been more confident of success, and it is a pleasure to go to the footy and watch us play. Our young players need to hold their head up high because they have brought something back to the MFC that has been lost for many years, fight. We FIGHT for the ball, and we fight out games and we have the talent to back it up. We lost and I'm gutted, but we were phenomenal tonight in terrible conditions and with some terrible decisions being made against us. We are rising at a much quicker rate than I expected, so everything right now is a bonus. Oh and errr... Scullgove
  7. Can't remember the last time I was this devastated by a loss. We played like we were possessed, and everyone played their hearts out. To have the points taken off us in such a cruel manner because of the incompetence of the AFL is so frustrating and unjust. Hard to believe I'm saying this, but this and the Collingwood loss might actually cost us a spot in the 8, which in the big scheme of things makes little different to our future progress really. It's a joy going to the football again, and the future is unbelievably bright. And the way I see it, all these bad decisions which go against us will accumulate into massively good karma and when we finally make a GF all the decisions will go our way
  8. I'm not one to ever complain about the umpires, but... I'm REALLY struggling not to swear my heart out at the moment. A multimillion dollar competition is being ruined by incompetent umpires who make horrendous, glaring mistakes week after week. We had our chances no doubt, but whose dumb idea was it to put the umps in pink? and whose dumb idea was it to let some [censored] 30m away have the power to overrule a goal umpire?? ARGH!!!!!!
  9. If I said I love Sculls it would be the understatement of the decade. He has room for improvement which just scares me. Love love love this kid!!!
  10. PJ is a wasted inclusion in these conditions. Should have gone another small like Jetta.
  11. This weather sucks. We get one Friday night game and it's pouring. Bloody hell. The air is moist so I can just imagine how bad the ground and ball are. We've got nobody to blame but ourselves for being behind. We've missed shots on goal that we should have got. Lynden Dunn is enemy of the state number one. It took us a while but I think we realise now that we can't bomb it long in these conditions, despite the morons around me yelling "kick it long" at every opportunity and cheering for bombs that end up with the opposition. Let's hope we continue to move it well by hand. Scullgove are freaking awesome and Bennell's goal was surely goal of the year thus far. Here is to a better second half. Go Dees!
  12. What was Jamar doing at Stef's age? Stef has come from a very limited footy background and has shown enough promise to warrant persistance.
  13. As if I have that much time on my hand to paint his skates red and blue. He just clearly knew that if he wore those colours he'd win. And yeah I'll take your suggestion on board
  14. Frustrating to see how slow Blease's progress is. Still in the seconds. The seniors though are surely going to win given the quality there. That backline is insane! Great to see Morton back too. Not long till he's back in the side
  15. The Martin for PJ swap is the only thing I am really unsure about. We keep persisting with this guy when he has shown so little, but I suppose if you're going to sit on our list and get paid, you might as well do something. He has to be given the chance to prove to us that he is worth retaining next season. I won't hold my breath. Great to see McKenzie back and a nice left field choice with Hughes. On a side note, what does the week's selection say about Miller's future at Melbourne?
  16. That is AWESOME news. Nothing better than going to the footy and watching a kid (or in this case, guy) play his first match. Good luck to him. It's been a long long time coming and it is a credit to him that he has stuck it out.
  17. Our jumper has changed numerous times over the years, and to me is not what is sacred about our club. It's our name, our colours, and most of all our history which is sacred and which will never change. A jumper is just that, a jumper. It metaphorically represent what we love about this club, which is why I am pleased to see us change it for this great cause. I love this club because we won't change our jumper for an M&M promotion, but we will do it to support a cause that is close to everyone's heart, especially our president's. The thing that disgusted me about the OP was the freak out over the idea of men wearing pink, and the complete disregard for the real reasons behind it. It's pink FFS, who gives a crap. It doesn't make our players any less masculine. Dear god!
  18. This thread makes me hate mankind.
  19. He wouldn't have lost much aerobic fitness you wouldn't think, and he isn't coming back from the sort of injury that requires slow progression and extreme precaution like soft tissue or stress fracture, so I would think one week with Casey seniors just to dust off the cobwebs and then straight back into the seniors.
  20. Mmmmmm Free Talent...
  21. Time flies when you're not shite
  22. I don't count last year though, because he barely trained and barely played. So in essence, this is his first season. If this is still an issue in 2011 then we can start showing signs of concern. But in his first real AFL season he has done enough IMO.
