  1. 1 year is very odd! I understand the Gold Cost scenario on our behalf, but why would a player agree to a 1 year deal? Unless of course Miller has his heart set on going back to QLD. Jamar on a 1 year extension is weird.
  2. Any chance we could link the banner back to the forums, the way it was previously? It's a bit annoying that when you press the banner it takes you back to the home page now, when essentially this site is all about the forums. Looks great though!
  3. This is like a top quality soap opera. So bad, yet you can't look away. Love it! Edit: Fixed it now HT! :D
  4. I was talking in general, probably shouldn't have quoted you. But I'd be pretty shocked if Hawthorn traded Campbell Brown, unless of course they think his temper is negatively influencing the club (doubtful).
  5. No, for the money they pay him, Brock should deliver it! <_<
  6. Pfft, I'd travel to Milan and back everyday to work with Dolce & Gabbana. Weak as [censored] :D If his boss in Maribyrnong offered him a fat paycheck, free pizza toppings under the table and the opportunity to manage the store, he wouldn't be complaining about the travel time. And now I want pizza. Damn you!
  7. As I said, it's not ideal, but such is life. Ask 99% of footballers and they'd tell you that they'd rather drive further than have to train at a rat-infested craphole (read: Junction). If there was no Casey, Brock would have found another plausible reason to [censored] to the media in an effort to hide why he really left, and good on him. It's between the club and him, and I'd rather supporters have a panic attack over the Casey situation than Carlton finding out we traded him because his body is shot (as an example).
  8. I travel from Brighton to Brunswick almost everyday by car. It takes close to an hour, and I don't get paid 6 figures to do that (I don't get paid at all). Everybody wants shorter commutes, everybody wants more money, everybody wants a better position in life, but most people would travel the distance if they really wanted to reach the destination. If you had a job you loved you would put in the extra travel time. It's not ideal, but we live in a big city with a central business district, and we have crap public transport, so most people travel long distanced everyday. Royal Parade in the morning is a [censored] and McLean will soon find that out. If Carlton were on the bottom of the ladder I bet he wouldn't care how close they were to his home.
  9. Poor Jamar, we're flogging him around like a used piece of meat! So far he's been included in just about every deal mentioned on Demonland. Jamar for Ablett I hear you say...
  10. Well I don't really rate ruckmen. I think they're only useful if they contribute around the ground, but that generally all you need is someone able to physical compete in the ruck and a very good midfield. A good ruck won't help a poor midfield, but a good midfield can compensate for a poor ruckman. Ours are woeful, but Spencer gives me a lot of hope. I'd also rather Martin pinch hitting in the ruck then contributing around the ground, over some giant beanpole who taps the ball then doubles up as a goal post. I wouldn't trade Jamar for anything, and as has been stated many times already, he is worth to us a lot more than he is worth on the open market. At pick 9 you could not refuse, but at pick 29 you'd sign him on for another 2 years, which is what appears to be happening. Edit: I'd be [censored] if we traded McLean to gain a 27 year old. It goes against everything we're trying to achieve. Pick 18 is the absolute limit IMO. I'd rather use pick 11 on a tall, which we need more desperately than Burgoyne!
  11. That's what the article inferred, but it's obviously [censored]. As I said, put a player in a successful team and they'll drive to Mars for training. If a player is happy at a club, sees a bright future and has the full backing of his coaches, then driving two hours a day won't even enter his mind. It is however a convenient cover-up and well done to Brock for not trashing the club or saying anything untoward, as some ex-players seem to do. It's always important to part on good terms, especially when Brock was a leader at the club and a fan favourite. While I'm sad to see him go (to f'ing Carlton!!! ), it seems that all parties are happy, so we'll roll with it and see what we can get with pick 11.
  12. And with all due respect to Lovett, you'd rather Schoenmakers, Birchall and Lewis, who are significantly younger and more promising. As I said, pick 18 and Jamar allows Port to cover their ruck needs plus they get pick 18. We can also swap third round picks. But I suspect we're meeting with Burgoyne to try and grab him in the PSD, and not because we're willing to upstage any possible offers to Port. To be honest I'd rather not spend pick 18 on a 27 year old with a suspect body, but he is an A grade midfielder and he will significantly improve our team next year, taking the best tagger and guiding the likes of Scully, Grimes and Trengove. Could also be another good mentor for Bennell, Jetta, Aussie and LJ, which may explain why Davey is meeting him.
  13. People can't seriously believe that that's the main reason he left! No player gives up friendships and loyalty to a club because they can't be stuffed driving, especially when they know that soon we'll be training in the CBD. Nobody at St Kilda seems to have a cry about traveling to Frankston, funny that!
  14. I stand corrected. Port really are gonna screw themselves in the end. Burgoyne is determined to leave, so take the best offer on the table (which is a fair offer!) and just move on. It's Nick Stevens all over again, which is great for us! Edit: Port are delusional if they think Hawthorn are giving them Schoenmakers, Birchall or Lewis PLUS pick 9. No wonder the Hawks have backed down a little.
  15. I thought it was Hawthorn knocking back pick 9, not Port?? If Port are saying no to pick 9 they will probably lose him for nothing, because nobody will give them much more than that. He may be a good player but at 27 and with a dodgy knee, 9 is a very very good deal.
  16. Jamar+18 or PSD! Come on Davey, work your magic!
  17. Quickest trade week kickoff of all time? Gees it's gonna be a huge week going by that standard. Hawthorn did well to grab Gibson at 25!
  18. That doesn't really surprise me. The club probably realised that we'll get a crap 3rd round pick for him, and decided it's better to sign him up on an average contract for some strength and maturity in the forwardline. People are kidding themselves if they think Watts will play 22 rounds and star next year. He'll need some breaks to give his body a rest, and that's without taking into consideration any possible injuries. Buckley will struggle to get a game next year, as will Bell, but Miller is a good mature body to have lying around as an insurance policy.
  19. Oh, but I really wanted some new shoes.... That sounds like a fair deal, but I doubt they'll go for it. If you believe the article posted above, we rate Buckley highly, so who knows (probably just Melbourne's PR team spinning [censored] to raise his price). It would be ideal to keep our first four picks. It means we may not even have to bother drafting past 18, if we're looking to keep 1 PSD pick up our sleeve. This is especially true if we trade Bell, who is contracted, and free up some more space on the list.
  20. Watts hair is now very short, hopefully that will help break the pretty boy tag. Mind you, Cousins would be classified by many women as a pretty boy, and no one is complaining Much much better homepage graphics. Good job.
  21. McLean + Bell + Buckley to Carlton for pick 11 and Pratt's bank account. :D
  22. Freo are to drafting and trading, what Freak is to Demonland.
  23. Eat a steak? Would love for him to settle as a KP forward in the future, but he is of better value to us as a "plug-a-hole" player, who can play anywhere. His best attribute is his cool head under pressure. Always looks to have plenty of time in tight situations, like TJ, only without the Jesus beard. Will be a gun, but really really needs to put on 5-6kgs.
