Meanwhile . . . over at the Kennel
Did he play in 2 finals in his first year? Don't really understand either...

Over at the Doggies supporter forum . . .
That's my favourite. When we're being referred to as a scalp, I'm happy.

Time to show Oscar some respect!
Bloody hell, I miss that guy ?.

Time to show Oscar some respect!
We need someone else in there too IMO. A versatile tall, which would allow Lever to play the role he is best at, and would free up Hibberd to run like he did last year. He's all tangled up at the moment.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BALIC
I'm excited to see how Balic goes next year. There's only upside so it's another very smart move by Mahoney and co.

Great result here.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Nailed it.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
The thread isn't about Oscar STMJ, give it a rest. My point is that premature comparisons to champions of the game have been made many times before, and not realised. Lever is playing some really good footy at the moment, and hopefully he continues on that trajectory. If he does he'll certainly be up there. I hope Lever can maintain this years form when he is in red and blue - the players around him won't be of the same calibre as at Adelaide and he probably won't be playing as a third tall. There'll be more responsibility.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
You can do that with so many players over the years though. The truth is, we won't know until Lever has played a similar number of games as Rance in his prime, and a similar age.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Tex obviously isn't the sharpest tool in the shed but jeez... know when to stop mate. You're making yourself and your club look terrible.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I'm not sure STMJ could take it.

Clarence Oliver
In relation to that discussion about the best midfielders, if we had a Robbie Flower right now our side would be all set. Such a champion. Kudos to whoever put together this video - sensational viewing.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Watts needs to stay forward for the rest of his career and Smith wouldn't fill the need - he's not big enough.
-
Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
If that eventuated, we'd have another gap to fill on the list in terms of a key back.

Glaring weakness in defence
I don't think so, he was often exposed by big forwards. We probably haven't paid enough attention to this need over the last few years, because we've been too busy building a midfield from scratch.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Doesn't Lloyd just look so uncomfortable and awkward on camera? It almost makes me uncomfortable watching him speak.

Clarence Oliver
Saw Clarrie limping pretty heavily after the game. Haven't heard anything about an injury concern so assume it was just a cramp. Anyone able to confirm?

The Importance of Jordan Lewis
Lewis has been solid since round 13 and is stepping up exactly when we need him to. No point stressing about next year yet.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Pederson is 30, Weideman is developing and when Maxy goes forward, someone needs to rotate with him. McDonald has performed admirably in the role this season, so if we were to recruit Lever I could see him spending much of his time up forward and relieving Maxy. There's no reason he can't go back when required.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Well it makes sense that if T McDonald were to continue up forward in that FWD/Ruck role, with Hogan and Watts, we need a quality defender to fill the hole he leaves down back. Lever would be a phenomenal pick up and with Frost and Oscar, would form a formidable back line.
