WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Classic half back flanker He's never averaged more than about 1.5 tackles a game throughout his career, so we knew what we were getting. And that's fine because what he does at the moment, no one else in the back line can do.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
He's 21 years old bub. Oscar is well ahead of the curve for a player of his size and age.

LOL at Carlton with Kreuzer - 13 wins, 29 losses. Fantastic.

Trengove would be a great pick up. Would almost prefer him to May for his versatility. Side note, the surname Trengove looks weirder every time I look at it.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
How do you figure? May is listed as 193cm and 102kg. Tom McDonald is listed as 194cm and 101kg. Oscar is 196cm and 97kg, Frost a little smaller at 194cm and 94kg. May looks to have a different kind of body shape but I don't think it's about size, it's about the way they use their height and weight. May is better at that and would be a great addition, but these guys can learn IMO.

A mature back up ruck would be nice. At least we have our tall defence 'covered', they just need to improve a bit.

He's been reading Demonland!

Josh Kelly
Agreed. For that reason exactly I doubt we'd pursue Kelly.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Watts vs Natanui is a case in point. This debate was all over years ago, according to a media with a collective IQ of 20 and supporters who refused to look past Natanui's highlights reel. This comparison is far from over. Natunui is a great ruckman when he is fit and firing, but a bit inconsistent. Watts has become a very reliable forward who can pinch hit in the ruck and his disposal, decision making and awareness are elite. Watts wins at this point, though you'll be hard pressed to get anyone outside the MFC and its supporters to agree. Time will tell with Petracca and McCartin but at the moment Petracca is obviously miles ahead. Love the kid.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
They knew they were getting a project player when they picked Weed. I really like what I see from him - most of the time he competes in the air and brings the ball to ground. He positions fairly well at the front of the contest too but isn't strong or confident enough to pull in the mark. His intensity can wane a bit too, but that's part and parcel for a young player trying to build a tank and learn the pace of the game. There are good signs, but it'll just take time for the lad to mature and build his body.

Hope you're not still talking about Greene.

His different running style makes his movement look more clunky, but his acceleration is fantastic.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
Consistency will come with experience and maturity. He's going to be a phenomenal player, there's no doubt about it. We have a wealth of players around that 20 game mark who are performing far better than expected at this stage of their careers, and Petracca is one of them.

Current Television
Two shows to recommend, both available on SBS on demand (at least partially): 'Trapped' - an Icelandic murder mystery thriller about a small coastal town which is isolated from the rest of the country at just the right time by a blizzard. 'The Night Manager' - another brilliant British show. Tom Hiddleston plays a hotel night manager who infiltrates an arms ring led by Hugh Laurie (who's very, very good). Also features our own Elizabeth Debicki. This show has convinced me that Hiddleston could be a good option for the next Bond.

Will do mate. Very true about the accessibility, and though I pitched my idea as a film they went straight away to 'have you thought of it as a series?'. Something directed toward the streaming boom might have a little more of a chance. I have a book called 'Tell Em I Died Game', about the history of bushranging. Written in the 1960's I think and has a funny sort of tone, but I love it. Would highly recommend reading, if you can get your hands on a copy.

You'll have to give us a heads up if they are released! I pitched a film to a couple of industry peeps on Friday, set in Omeo in the gold rush era. Can't get enough of colonial history at the moment.

Awesome, small world. Is that a period piece too?

Can't argue with that. I struggle to think of a time when he has disappointed me in a role. I watched Van Diemen's Land last night, based on the story of a group of escaped convicts who resort to cannibalism to survive. Very brutal, but slow in parts and very much about the protagonist (Alexander Pearce) and whether he was a psychopath or a normal guy in an abnormal situation. Beautifully shot though and on some reflection I think it was pretty good. Can be found on Stan.

Yeah, amazing soundtrack! What were your thoughts on Bronson? I read a really good article a couple of years ago comparing Bronson and Chopper, and the influence of Chopper on Refn's film. Was really interesting, and the contention was that Bronson was simply stylistic and completely lacking in any kind of soul or connection, whilst Chopper was style and a heap of substance, which I couldn't agree with more. Chopper is one of my favourite movies ever made.

What do you think of Nicholas Winding Refn's films? Personally, I think they look great but don't enjoy them at all. Apart from Drive, which is probably because that was written by Hossein Amini and not Refn himself.

Those three are definitely worth watching. The only Burton directed film I've enjoyed is Big Fish. Everything else has been underwhelming, and Alice in Wonderland was total trash. I suppose the technical aspects that Burton shares with the German expressionist films don't really help the fact that his work is pretty unengaging IMO.

German Expressionism is fascinating! Loved learning about it at uni and the progression to noir is very interesting. Love The Sniper and Double Indemnity is great, phenomenal read too as a script. Ace In The Hole and Murder, My Sweet are both great films.

I'm sure we could have drafted an obese kid if we really wanted to.

Kind of like flipping a coin a hundred times and getting 70% heads. Those results aren't going to affect your next coin toss at all.
