  1. I put $100 on the Swans at $1.08. Will pay for a couple of coffees. I did the same thing when Melbourne FC played W/Coast a few weeks ago. Really generous odds - $1.13. Paid for a muffin as well.
  2. cudi, your post was so well written I thought I must have written it, posted it under another name and then forgotten I had done all that.
  3. I loved him as a player. Seems like a top bloke too. Shame he went a season too many.
  4. I think the real problem is that most of the players aren't very good.
  5. My son played u12 footy with Adam Tomlinson. From recollection he was a nice kid. His father is my dentist (in Melbourne). He's a nice bloke. He goes to most of his son's matches, so I guess he is clocking up lots of frequent flyer points. Melbourne FC finds it hard/impossible to snag big names. The only ones in recent years are Clark and Dawes. Dreaming to talk about Patton, Fyfe, Dangerfield etc. Why stop at them? May as well thrown Pendlebury and Watson in the mix!!!
  6. Hey Tingay lover. That was great!! However my use of italics was unintentional. You made my day!! Hahaha!! Keep up the good work!! Apostrophe abuse is the bane of my life. It is rampant on Demonland. It is the grammatical equivalent of the skill errors perpetrated by the Melbourne players. To quote some great person "There's a difference between knowing your sh^t, and knowing you're sh^t." Hey Tingay lover, should there be a second full stop outside the second set of quotation marks? Because the words quoted constitute a complete sentence. Or just one full stop, either inside or outside the quoted sentence? You seem to have time on your hands, and an inclination to devote yourself to worthwhile tasks, so I eagerly await your verdict.
  7. Hey, Tingay lover. Not quoting anyone pet. Quotations marks are often (ok, sometimes) used to denote irony.
  8. The "skills" exhibited by Melbourne players was shocking. Continual handballing to players under pressure, poor kicking and dropped marks. GC's skills were much better. Watts' "tackling" was pitiful. I also thought that the forward line was way too top heavy. I'm normally not a fan of Pederson, but I thought he was far from our worst today. Bail was invisible.
  9. No point banging on about Nic Nat. He would have gone back to W.A. after 2 years.
  10. It was clearly the right move to pick Watts ahead of Natanui. But not because he's a better player. Watts re-signed. Natanui would have gone home (W.A) after 2 years.
  11. I'm recovering from a shoulder reconstruction, but could probably make myself available if that would help.
  12. I remember when the publican was Whale Roberts. A huge man, but fairly cheerless in my experience.
  13. The way to create a fortress is to be :blink:competitive on the ground. Just a thought!!
  14. Rohan Bail may well be a top bloke. But he isn't an AFL standard footballer. Neither are Nicholson, Byrnes or Strauss. It's not a good sign if those players are getting a game. Pederson is borderline.
  15. WJ. Ah, the imperfections of the English language!! "Change my allegiance TO the Melbourne Football Club"?? Who would do that? Shouldn't it be "change my allegiance FROM the Melbourne Football Club""? But upon re-reading the sentence it does make sense. Like most, I could never follow another AFL team. At worst I would simply lose interest. Which I sort of did last year. But 2014 is another year/season!! And like all opening matches for the past x number of years, I'll be there hoping for the best. Go Dees!!!
  16. 4 - 6 weeks I've heard (from a reliable source).
  17. The Producers featured the song "Springtime for Hitler".
  18. Who doesn't love Eddie "triplechins King Kong" Maguire?
  19. I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if Mitch plays more than 12 games this season.
  20. Roger, are you friends with the Fat Slags, Mrs Brady Old Lady, Spoilt Bastard, etc?
  21. He is a role model to all. Morons that is.
  22. Hogan may end up being out for 4 - 6 weeks. A pessimist is a well informed optimist.
  23. I was at that match. Remembering Gehrig getting caught by Carroll, and stuffing himself in the process still brings a smile to my face.
