What do you think he's worth? Mahoney mentioned that players in Lumumba's age bracket (same as Merrett) tend to go for 2nd/3rd round picks. We'll probably have one of those picks tied up in Lumumba and the other in Stretch. So that means we'll either need to acquire and on trade a pick from another team, or offload players. Blease, Strauss, Tapscott, etc probably (definitely) don't hold enough currency to get it done, and I'm not sure how many players would want to head to Brisbane...

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY
Good Times Grimes replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hear that he bleeds purple and white...or brown and yellow...or black and white...pretty much the colours of whichever team is willing to pay him the most for a colourful blood transfusion. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Surely his fiance would be concerned with his commitment issues. -
I would trade pick 2 or 3 for Treloar in a heartbeat.

Whateley thinks that St Kilda or GWS are going for Petracca? Or both?

2014 Player Review - # 37 Max Gawn
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pretty impressive to win a B&F by playing only 8 games. I guess that tells you all you need to know about the Casey side of 2014. -
Okay, call him a medium forward. Whatever way you slice it, our forward line is lacking.
-
Yes please. As it stands the only tall forwards on our list that I rate of AFL standard are Hogan, Dawes and Pedersen.

2014 Player Review - # 35 Luke Tapscott

He played his best footy in defense...was never the same after his first season. -
Sometimes helps to read the post before replying to it.

2014 Player Review - # 19 James Strauss
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He seemed like he was starting to come on and really solidify his place in the side before he broke his leg against Carlton a few years ago. He never really showed anything after that. -
2014 Player Review - # 27 Aidan Riley

I like him. He's hard at it and very good in traffic. He may not be in our next premiership team, but he's the type of player that helps you build towards that team and his desire will only help improve the MFC's culture. -
Am I the only one that doesn't mind this appointment? Goodwin was a champion player, club captain, won premierships, All Australian (x5), B&Fs. He's gained experience under one of the greatest coaches of the modern era (Thompson), and will have a further two seasons with another of the greats (Roos) before taking the reins. Yes, he was involved with Essendon during the ASADA scandal, but he wasn't the orchestrator of the program and he is widely regarded as a stabilizing influence that helped the club perform well despite the constant media attention and speculation. Roos & Co have said that he was very honest with them about his role in the scandal, and I have faith that they know what they're doing and wouldn't appoint him if he was an immoral person. I'm glad that we have a successor in place, and I think that Goodwin seems like a strong appointment.

2014 Player Review - # 21 Cam Pedersen
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I can't think of another player turning it around as quickly as Pedersen did this year. He became one of our most reliable players and provided a target up forward. Even though he faded out a bit in the latter part of the season, I'm really impressed with how he went about it in 2014 and am keen to see him improve further. -
Exactly. The only player that I can think of that has been successful with their new club is Scott Thompson. Stefan Martin is beginning to look like he may be another, but the jury is still out on that one.

Essendon's Paddy Ryder on verge of walkout The Age is reporting that Ryder is on the verge of walking out on Essendon to join either Brisbane or GWS. Although his preference is apparently to play in a non-traditional market, what are the chances Melbourne could convince him to become a Demon? It's not impossible to change someone's mind...might just cost a bit more coin. I think he's just the type of player we need, given Jamar's career is winding down and the rest of our ruck stocks are injury-prone and unproven. I hope that Roos & Co get in his ear ASAP as it not only would he be an asset to the MFC, but it's always nice to stick one up the Bombers!

Learned absolutely nothing new from watching that clip.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 18
Good Times Grimes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6- Tyson 5- Jetta 4- Jones 3- Bail 2- Dunn 1- Jamar -
The most memorable smashing in recent years is definitely the win over Sydney. In 2012 we beat GWS by 78pts in the return of HWFUA. Clark and Rivers kicked four each (all of Clark's in the first half, before he went down with THAT injury), and Bate was in our best. How times have changed...

Players to target at the end of the year
Good Times Grimes replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's what I was implying...there's no way that GWS would do it, and if they offered it we'd be mad not to accept it. -
Players to target at the end of the year

We would be crazy not to do that deal. -
That really hurts Brazil's chances. I'm on the Costa Rica bandwagon now; would love to see them wipe the smug look off Robben's face!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Good Times Grimes replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think you're joking, but to all the posters that loathe the idea of potentially having to spend a second rounder on Billy: Wouldn't you rather see him play as well as he possibly can every game rather than deliberately under-performing (something we were fined $500k for allegedly doing) so that he slips to the third round? I for one am thrilled that he is tearing it up, and can't wait to see him in action from 2015 and beyond.
