  1. Cue 100+ pages of speculation starting in 3....2.....1.....GO!
  2. He's not overly quick in a straight line, but he makes up for it with his evasiveness and endurance
  3. Let's just hope that Lyon's son learnt the skills when he was young and is able to pick them up again quickly!
  4. The difference with them is that they're all Irish and have come from Gaelic footballing backgrounds. I have played footy in several countries around the world, and can tell you for a fact that it is VERY rare to see an international player that is not Irish pick up the basic skills of the game and look like a natural. I've also seen many Australians pick up the game for the first time since childhood, and it doesn't take too long for their skills to return. I'd compare it to learning a language; relatively easy if you're young, and increasingly difficult as you get older.
  5. I'm a massive fan of JKH. As others have said, he's not the fastest small forward going around, but what he lacks in speed he makes up for in agility and creativity.
  6. A few articles have mentioned injuries to our recent first round picks (Strauss, Blease, Tapscott, Molan, etc). It would be interesting to know where these players would be today if not for their misfortunes... That being said, I think that the club is now a much better environment for a young player going through a long rehab process than it was when the above players were injured, and I think that having Jack Trengove in rehab with him will be very beneficial for Petracca.
  7. These players are all ruckmen, the position that I believe would be easiest to pick up as skills are not as important as sheer size, athletic ability and strength. There's a reason that clubs are scouting in the USA for former basketball giants like Mason Cox, and it's because the easiest position for a player new to the game to learn is the ruck. I'm not saying that Lyon's son will be no good if he's not a ruckman, I just hope that he already has the basic skills required for footy, because after a certain age they become VERY hard to learn.
  8. Here we go again....welcome to 2015, Melbourne fans.
  9. Fair point. Does anyone know what the qualifications are for playing in this match? i.e. one indigenous parent, one indigenous grandparent, etc? Just curious...
  10. Josh McGuiness is about the least indigenous sounding name that I've ever heard.
  11. IMO this second goal should've gone close to winning GOTY
  12. Agreed. I think they'll continue to make the finals for the foreseeable future, but I can't see them winning it again for a while.
  13. 2015 will be an important season for Gawn and Spencer. I think it's unlikely that Jamar will go around again in 2016, meaning that one of these two players has to prove themselves as a #1 ruckman that can stay on the park. I think Gawn has what it takes, it's just a matter of whether or not his body can cope for a full 22 (or, hopefully, 25) games. If neither can prove themselves this year, then surely we'll be looking for someone via trade/FA for 2016.
  14. A great sense of schadenfreude has hit Demonland
  15. You can watch them online at http://watchafl.afl.com.au. You'll need to subscribe, but the fee is worth it. You can watch live and replays are available within 12 hours. I use it every week
  16. Also don't forgot Jones's new contract
  17. I wouldn't give Bail 2 years with his concussion history. Terlich for 2 is a head scratcher, though...
  18. The club usually doesn't broadcast players' times. They'll tell you how many ran PBs and the order that they finished, but its unlikely you'll find out times.
  19. Living on the other side of the world hasn't stopped me and my family from signing up for 2015. In fact, this is year #10 of being an international member. If you're dedicated enough to have ~650 posts on a forum dedicated to this team, you have to also be dedicated enough to sign up to support them financially. DO IT!
  20. I think we've got quite a few players that are set to break-out in 2015. Kent, Gawn, Hogan and Viney are the four that spring to my mind.
