  1. I hope and think that Harmes will get another run. Roos has given new players a couple of games to try and get into the groove of things (neither ANB or Stretch set the world on fire in their first matches). I think we're likely to see: In: Grimes, Riley Out: JKH, ANB/Stretch
  2. We're not a good footy club yet, but we're not the worst in the competition. There is no way that we'll be finishing last on the ladder this year. Demonland is so ridiculous. Last week people were talking about winning 8 of the last 9 and squeezing into the finals, and this week people are talking about winning the spoon.
  3. I believe his first game (at least) was as a forward. I think he's too valuable down back to move him now, though.
  4. Good luck to your son in his recovery; hopefully it's quick. Sitting on the sidelines instead of being out on the field is incredibly tough to do.
  5. 1. How did you start following the Demons? My Dad's side have been Dees supporters for generations. Unfortunately I'm the first one to have not yet seen a premiership. Surely...soon. 2. Who was your very first favourite player and why? The Ox. He was an absolute freak of nature before he did his knees. Jeff Farmer was next; his ability to create something from nothing was something that perhaps only Liam Jurrah could replicate. 3. Best moment as a fan? Seeing us obliterate Adelaide in the 1998 qualifying final after they'd won the flag and we'd won the spoon the year before. 1998 should've been our year. 4. Worst moment as a fan? The Neeld years. 5. Anything else you would like to share? Every offseason I fall into the trap of becoming overly optimistic about our prospects for the upcoming season, and most years my hopes are dashed by half time in round one. Something feels different about the club since Roos took over, and my optimism seems to be well-founded this time. It's mid-season and I still look forward to each game, whereas in years past I'd be looking forward to the draft.
  6. We own his rights until the end of the trade period. If a club wants him, they have to trade with us or take the chance that he'll be around when they pick in the National Draft or Preseason Draft. I hope we give him a 2 year deal; he's shown enough this year to warrant it, IMO.
  7. Can't wait to see what our hard nuts in the middle can do today. Viney, Vince, Jones, Brayshaw, VB and Harmes were made to play in this sort of weather.
  8. I really hope he's not the sub...would love to see him have a shot against a relatively inexperienced Bombers outfit for four quarters in the wet.
  9. Calm down, CBDees...when I posted that I thought Brayshaw was going to be given the week off. Doesn't look that way now, though, which is good.
  10. Used to love watching Rigoni go about it...
  11. Check the MFC Twitter and the article re: Brayshaw on the AFL site
  12. I'm sure that we'll hear details (if there's anything to hear) once the team is announced.
  13. Hope that Harmes gets a run. By all reports he's strung together some very consistently good football at Casey and has earned a chance. I'll change my earlier prediction... In: Harmes, Lumumba, JKH Out: M. Jones, Spencer, Brayshaw
  14. I wouldn't be surprised to see Goddard have a big match on Saturday. I'd like to see Vince go to him and Viney to Heppell.
  15. Interesting first day, momentum shifted back and forth a few times. Hopefully we'll be able to get them out quickly tomorrow and put our bats to work. Not very impressed with the bowling, though Starc did seem to come into his own towards the end of the day before the cramps set in.
  16. Could easily be talking about either. Can't stand either of them.
  17. How good was that passage of play to get it to Salem? Loved Pederson just ducking down and seeing Hocking fly over the top of him.
  18. I absolutely LOVE that Tennis Australia has dropped Tomic from the David Cup team. What a self-entitled, disrespectful egotist.
  19. Surely his potential suitors would be watching all of his games very closely and these pathetic efforts that he's putting in are only serving to lower his value. Even if he's got a club lined up, I don't understand why said club would be interested in recruiting a player that doesn't have the integrity to play out the remainder of his contract with some effort and desire rather than just go through the motions. This is the difference in attitude that makes players like Dangerfield, Ablett, Judd, etc superstars of the competition, while players Sylvia, Scully, Moloney and Howe will never be more than B-graders.
  20. Keep in mind that we lost to the reject team that this rabble was able to field in the NAB Challenge. I wouldn't be overly complacent going into this game, it would be typical of Melbourne to lose this. In: JKH, Fitzpatrick, Newton, Riley/Harmes Out: Spencer, Bail, M. Jones, Howe
  21. O'Meara would be worth a punt, but his knees are a big concern. Potential to be one of the greats, but also a chance he can never string together a full season. What would we have to pay? Is our first pick worth the risk? Maybe we could ask Richmond's doctor to put him through his paces before we make them an offer. I quite like the idea of targeting another tall forward, as I don't rate Dawes and still think King is a long way off. Day would be my preference over Dixon, especially if it's to be believed that Brisbane are driving Dixon's price through the roof.
  22. You'd think not. It would be very hard for them to get up for another game this season. Such horrible, horrible news.
