What is the one thing that has kept you going?
dee-eee replied to the fork's topic in Melbourne Demons
As a survivor of those bleak years between Smithie and Swooper we at least now have a Draft to give us hope for a competitive side before too long. We could do worse than load up with midfielders (with grunt) at the end of the year . -
The only positive thing about that 10 minutes before quarter time was the white hot anger of Dee fans . What an atmosphere ! It ended in farce with that super soft free to Fitzy dead in front . Talk about a square- up........we managed to intimidate the rookie umps Perth/Adelaide style .
-
The Faithful much appreciate your representation .
-
What a coach....he gave some pretty ordinary sides real grunt . Having turned 70 last week , i would'nt wish any of our current problems on him .
-
Great to have a decisive , baggage-free administrator in PJ . Never understood the aura around the off-field Garry Lyon particularly as he supported his mate Tiger Ridley during the merger kerfuffle .
-
So , you must be 100% straight to get a job with the MFC ? ? I guess that rules out Ricky Martin as a Wild Card .
-
You obviously don't listen to Patrick Smith on SEN who dropped his personal support for Essendon over issues involving Bomber . Didn't Costa reveal that at the time Bomber was accusing Ablett Jnr of disloyalty and personally snubbing him , phone records showed that Thompson was making umpteen calls to Windy Hill from his club office !
-
Oddly, he does have a link to a VFL legend . He's the grandson of legendary Cats player and premiership coach Reg Hickey .
-
Golly , not a flattering pic of J.V. looks like he's just lost a cage fight !
-
I thought wingmen , in reality , disappeared years ago . Ah yes , Flower v Greig competing one-on-one out there . Now there can be every player in one half of the ground !
-
Sorry , I can't get the vision out of my mind of Lethal king-hitting Peter Giles from behind .

Your attendance at games is needed ...
dee-eee replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Those of us who survived those mostly horrible years between The Red Fox and Swooper know what real hopelessness is all about. In those pre draft days we were stuck with an ageing metropolitan zone and a patchy country one. There are numerous examples in recent years of teams turning their fortunes around in the short term to be at least regularly competitive . I've missed only two Victorian home games ( through illness ) since the late 1950's . For me ,attendance is like a family duty. -
Casey Scorpions v Collingwood and Debt Demolition Day
dee-eee replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great post . Our consistent refusal to select a competitive side in the VFL finals discourages our attendance and leaves us even further dispirited . When opposition supporters accuse our current hierachy of lacking a football "soul" it's hard to disagree. -
Tut tut everybody.............. isn't it mandatory to consult Garry Lyon on this subject ?
-
I've no intention of torturing myself any further by opening the link on the thoughts of "Splinter" Morton . Just don't ever report that Jesse H.( with dad )were seen entering the gates of Raheen for morning tea with Sticks and Jeanie . Now that really would be the end .
-
Didn't George Costanza already try that ?
-
..........pray for $culs to at least run a drum in their B&F !
-
I'm tipping he'll be off . Isn't he matey with Shaw and Didak ?
-
As a member for 40 consecutive years sitting in a study groaning with Dees memorabilia ( including framed NO MERGER placard ) under no circumstances would i ever support a relocated or merged team. I would also never again attend any other AFL football matches .

Demon Loyalty and Woosha's Interview circa 2011
dee-eee replied to Lifelong Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was simply alluding to Club sanctioned tanking . -
I think Stef Martin could be included on the good books PJ, however, in any case, the loss of the players you named doesn't say much for the MFC hierarchy's decision making! I love Beamer. Good guy, with that perfect amount arrogant attitude. When Geelong won their premerships I listened to a smart ass reporter ask him if he regretted moving - I respected Beamer immediately for his quick response (which was a resounding no). Its a shame things didnt work out: he went from such a great player to no effort. Best of luck Beamer. I've only ever said that you, Rivers and Petterd... and the exact opposite to Mclean, Johnstone and Farmer .......but T.J. got the boot !

Demon Loyalty and Woosha's Interview circa 2011

Interesting that the coach of a team finishing as low as 15th and 16th was under no internal pressure at all re his coaching future . I think we can all work that one out ! -
Relax... We've still got Jesse Hogan...
dee-eee replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's best to temper expectations. Just think of Glenn Lovett cruelled by injuries in his prime / Schwarta's knee/s / Scott Thompson's return to Adelaide . -
I'm terrified he might kick the winning goal on Sunday and give us the Brian Wilson finger or the Brock McLean sneer. That would be "jump in the Yarra" stuff !

David Schwarz for MFC President? [MERGED]
dee-eee replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's public knowledge that Ron Walker has been very unwell lately .
