SOS returns home and so eventually will Neeta .

An important intangible factor here is his popularity with our ever dwindling junior supporters . As an MCC member with a full MFC membership I am able to sponsor my ten year old grand nephew as a Junior member . He was delighted to receive a call from Jeremy under a club initiative at a time when he was embarrassed to wear our jumper at his footy training . The chat renewed his enthusiasm for the Dees .

That's it ! An obvious issue with the compulsory largely white jumper (irrespective of emblem) is its clash with that of the "busy" Sainters home version .
-
All red with our venerable navy blue monogram on the front gets my vote .
-
Not the dreaded wishy-washy Royal Blue of 1975--1986 under any circumstances .
-
Moving stuff . Any details known as to organiser/s , surprise factor , function component etc ?
-
Then there was Geelong player Jason Snell who promptly retired after such a severe ankle break against us he was told he could never run again .

I deeply regret to advise that any suggestion of Eddie-bashing should be verbotten on Demonland for the foreseeable future . Looking at our draw , the ONLY home game capable of earning serious moolah is Queen's Birthday - weather permitting of course . To his credit , he actively , albeit condescendingly , supports our sole blockbuster . I'm sure the Toiges for example would love to pinch it off us .

Already reserved premiership tattoo space on a stretch of pristine white under-forearm skin for our time-honoured MFC monogram . The upper side is too leathery and sun blotched to be of much use. Understandable , as I was only 15 years of age last time around .

We've regained some self respect after the Neeld experience but I am not an unqualified Roos cheerleader . The worst example of his ultra-defensive mindset was in the Round 15 Bulldogs game when we defended a 2 goal lead early in the last quarter by stacking every player into our defensive half . We were rendered incapable of scoring at all.....even from opposition turnovers .

Grand Final Sprint - Last chance for glory in 2014

Ah memories.......didn't the bustling Russell "Rhino" Richards run a drum a couple of times in this event back in the 1980's ? -
Won't Robbo's take in The Hun tomorrow be interesting? I loved the observation of Patrick Smith on SEN a couple of weeks ago about a Robinson article : " I thought to myself , this HAS to been written by James Hird himself , but then I thought , no , it can't be , Hird at least knows how to write ".

Jack Viney may be a work in progress but when he crosses that white line , I don't think club "culture" is foremost on his mind . Sellwood , Hodge and even lesser lights like Rance and the promising Wines also come to mind as instinctively courageous . Self respect should be motivation enough as it was for Carlton players in 1979/80 when they had "coaches" such as Jesaulenko and Percy Jones .

Do you remember a full back named Paul Rowland ?
-
I see his predecessor as CEO is about to head up the AFL Players' Association famously once held by Vlad himself . Hopefully Al might follow the same path and be sympathetic to a Dees Priority Pick in 2024 .

Congratulations to Whispering__Jack for tipping the top 5 in order with an honourable mention to DeeZee for getting the first 4 correct . At least most of us tipped the quinella ! The criticised voting system seemed to get it pretty right .

A one-trick-pony i.e. an intermittent powerful overhead mark interspersed with dropped howlers and embarrassingly unathletic at ground level .

I was really hoping the Bumbers would lose their close one . I'm still bitter and twisted over the assault on the kid Brad Green in the 2000 grannie . No sane Dee supporter gave us much of a chance of winning but I reckon Sheedy saw the in form Green as an X factor .

For those who MUST have a betting interest may I suggest the Line odds of 9 or 10 goals start for a 90% return will at least give you a run for your money .

Melbourne , a team waiting to be beaten - Paul Roos

Hard to disagree with much of the above but my moment of horror was looking back early in the last quarter to our forward half too see three loose Brisbane players with only Dawes for company . Leppitsch said after the game that they won because they stopped flooding . Dare I suggest that coaching conservatism played at least some part in the last quarter debacle . -
Is this the same coach who snubbed one of his own stalwarts for " disloyalty" ( Ablett jnr ) and while still coaching the Catters was accused of making umpteen calls to a Windy Hill number from his office phone by none other than his own club president .
-
Am I a "bad supporter" for enjoying reading on the AFL official site that $culls is having a knee op and is out for the year .
-
If I had the confidence we could recruit as well as the Sainters or even the Pies when they bottomed out , I wouldn"t mind at all .
-
Yes ,Mrs Roos . I was silly enough to take a peek at the official MFC site ......nothing of course .

When Jack is given freedom in the backline he relishes the space and his elite kicking skills can set us up .
