  1. At 208cm and 111kg (probably a bit heavier) he will need luck to escape the laws of physics re further wear and tear on his knees .
  2. My favourite goal from Jacka was from this very same position well after the halftime siren against Collingwood . He infuriated the Pies supporters by arguing with the umpire over the angle of the shot and then to an increasing crescendo of boos , calmly slotted a monster . To cap it off . he then bounded up the nearby race high-fiving supporters .
  3. A schoolmate of mine in the mid 1960's surveyed nearly everybody at my bayside secondary school as to their footy allegiances . We came out on top with The Sainters a close second......daylight third ! Now I believe only about 3% of AusKickers follow us .
  4. Totally agree......he was showing Salem-like improvement and together with Grimes seem to be under the hammer by the selectors . Maybe there are "not following instructions" issues that are beyond my perception .
  5. Says Jumbo , having "edited" his own contribution .
  6. Strictly no mention of Wines .
  7. Can't the scoreboard fib just a tad when Messrs Cloke and Daniher slot 7-0 & 5-0 respectively ?
  8. May I add the pater of a former no. 31 ?
  9. You obviously haven't seen the 1940's movie classic "The Picture of Dorian Gray" .
  10. EVERYBODY except Alex Rance & Andrew Swallow .
  11. Yes , Bruce is certainly cringeworthy don't you think ?....AND dated isn't he ??? .
  12. Hawthorn's membership in 1996 ( merger kerfuffle time ) was pathetic...... just under 12,500 . We could easily add a further 10 or 15k to our present 35k post a year of consistently competitive effort .
  13. A cocky lightweight with an appalling propensity to suck-up to the supporters of the "big" teams . A couple of years ago, as GWS was enduring its then regular drubbing, he shouted to his radio audience : " This is beautiful , Collingwood , The Grandest of the Grand Old Teams " .
  14. Hasn't been a bad day...... Bummers goalless at half-time and Scorps get up in a thriller .
  15. The "nothing-to-see-here" posters are commenting on unseen deleted tweets . Eh ?
  16. For all his fine qualities , the plain truth is that our club would not exist today if the Lyon supported Merger of 1996 was successful . He was supporting his "little mate" ( Ian Ridley ) .
  17. Fond memory of UK Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott , punching a grinning bogan who egged him at close range during the 2001 election campaign . The recipients in each case got their right wack .
  18. Not until forwards Hogan , Garlett and Dawes regularly kick straight .
  19. No , exactly as I described , with commentator Ricciutto saying " Watts should mark this" .
  20. The Match Review brigade must cite him for such a ludicrously blatant stage . The Rules have been tightened recently and I seem to remember Thomas of North copping a warning .
  21. Amazed nobody has already mentioned the incident where Watts was in perfect position to run in from behind to mark (or at least spoil) and instead , in mid-air , he turns his back and drops his head . Embarrassing .
  22. Looks as though he's puddened-up a tad at long last but then pics can add a few kilos to perception .
  23. Wow..........he makes our Robbo sound like an introvert on Valium .
  24. Great memories as a kid of stomping my feet on the floorboards of the Grey-Smith Stand after a spectacular Tunna goal .In those days there were often specialist "types" for some positions . Half-forwards were skinny swoopers in long sleeves and we had a couple of the best in Tunna and later Barrie Vagg .
  25. The goal loss to the Bullies at Etihad last year was the worst example of the ultra defensive Roos . Defending a miniscule lead mid last quarter , he stacked every player into our back half . The Dogs had unaccompanied players to clean up any rare forays and get their short game off and running . Ricciuto made the observation late in the Bombers game that "Melbourne has too many players behind the ball to score".
