Satryiconhome, you come across as a desperate groupie. Carry on big noting yourself at every opportunity .....

I'm not talking about Australia's worst broadleaf pasture weed Echium plantagineum! I'm not highlighting our abysmal record at the ground since it was renamed Paterson Stadium in 2011 or our all time win loss record there of 8 wins and 21 losses. The biggest area of concern for me, or the 'Paterson's Curse'. is the way we seem to be strangled by the press/zone (even more so than usual) whenever we play on the long but slightly narrower ground. We struggle to keep possesion of the ball coming out of defence as it is (our kick in's were turned over at will again against the tigers), but this is highlighted even more than usual when we play at Subi. I'd like to see a few more tricks than just boming it blindly to the flanks to a 1 on 1. maybe give Dunny the licence to try a few torpedo's up the guts? My lasting memory of watching games at Patersons over the last 4-5 years is that the game is always played in our defensive half, we just cant get through a zone on the narrow field! Sitting in the 2nd tier at the City end with the rest of the demons supporters you get a good veiw of every other quarter.... The dockers having a good chunk of their quality players out injured (Pavlich, Sandilands, Griffen, Hill, Walters & Bradley) but our list of outs isnt great reading either (Grimes, Clark, Viney + Sylvia suspended). Obviously Jamar needs to show his experience and dominate the ruck contests, and our defence need to keep up their strong form and keep their depleated forward line to a reasonable score. Not expecting a win but I would like to rock up to a game at Subiaco and have occasional moments to cheer about for a change!

Maybe its just becasue he has been injured so i havent seen him play for a while, but when i think of JMac i think of over enthusiastic tackles that almost alwasy result in free kicks against us (in the back, head high etc) and turnovers by foot!!

In 2008 Davey was fit enough that he got to almost every uncontented marking situation to recieve a handball and distribute by foot. If he's fit enough to play this role again it could be worth a try. From my perspective Jones has been getting these handball recieves this year and thus his numbers have been good. I think Davey's game yesterday was the right mix of time spent in the 50m arc and time playing with more freedom. If byrnes comes back in it will be interesting to see what happens. IMO byrnes is probably a better candidate to play more midfled time than Davey at the moment.

He's been dependable in the back line. Almost prefer him there to Tommy Mac in the short term.

If we had been playing any better than absolute garbage this year you'd almost give us a sneaky chance this weekend with Fremantles never ending injury list They'll be without Pavlich, Griffen, Sandilands and probably Hill & Walters too. I'm guessing match ups will be somthing like; Frawley - Hannath Garland - Mayne Sellar - not required due to the lack of height in Fremantles forward line? Strauss - Ballentyne McKenzie - Barlow Dawes - McPharlin Perhaps play Dunn as a defensive forward on Michael Johnson?

Depending on the outs i'd like to see Kent play this weekend even if it is as the sub. Give the lad a chacne to play infront of his home crowd. Same goes for Jetta

Worst umpiring performance of the year

Denis and Basil are ch 7 perth news readers. There would be public backlash if they had focused on the umpiring rather than ejaculated over natanui -
Worst umpiring performance of the year
DemonWA replied to Return to Glory's topic in Melbourne Demons
The umpires get totally sucked in by the bias crowd. Its like they want to be popular in the stands so they pay frees that are barely there. combined with the eagles technique for cheating a rule that is there For their own safety and you get a lop sided adjudication process! I've been there to witness it first hand on many occasions. It blows Tonight will be the first time I'd agree with brad scott when he goes bonkers in a post match presser -
All time great quote about sellers 5 goals are chubby kid in junior footy

Sylvia's signature will act like a barometer for where the club/FD are at. Sylvia has been at the club for close to a decade but the majority of his mates are gone. Sign him and perhaps satryconhome's rosy pictures are true. He leaves and our club parts way with a quality player that we can ill afford to loose

Sad when watching a 5-10 min clip gives you more joy than watching the games each week! How good was the Robbie interview? Any demonlanders in the demon army? And Old Dee, was that you in the 50 year members clip?

the MFC would want to be packing lube, and lots of it. Going to be mercyless

yeah i saw that too The club also signed Lynden Dunn for two years after he finished the season well in 2012 and, in a surprise to many, gave recruit Cameron Pedersen a three-year contract in the off-season http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-05-17/not-all-hell-for-demons

HAHAHAHAHAH hilarious! Beamer is having a better year than any of our midfielders IMO, including both Jones'

I'm guessing Jamar is 50-50 and might be a late omission. Otherwise Spencer being on the extended bench with both Gawn and Jamar listed on the ground is a slap in the face to Fitzpatrick. Im hoping the bench ends up as; Magner, Davey, Davis (may as well see what he can or cant do) with Kent as the sub

Just a reminder: Melbourne are bad - R.Connolly
DemonWA replied to Curry & Beer's topic in Melbourne Demons
In all honestly i dont mind reading the Melbourne / Richmond articles. Its depressing as hell, but it is true, 2 or 3 years ago we were on par with each other. Now there is daylight between us and them some -
I dont like the idea of following trends in the AFL. yes lots of teams have tall CHB's at the moment, but that doesnt mean we should select people there based on height! Fitzy is a key forward (in my eyes) that is tall enough to go into the ruck for patches. Thats how i'd like us to play him. I see him as long term insurance for Mitch Clark Gawn is being played in this role currently as i assume eveyone is a bit nervous about playing him (and his knees!) for an entire game where he spend the majority of it rucking. Long term he will take Jamars role Spencer is a ruckman, and although he is no world beater he has the strength and durability to play an entire game in there. He's our back up to Jamar who seems to be the FD's 1st choice for someone that can compete in the ruck for an entire game. I dont see him being on the list long term, but will stay there until Jamar retires or Gawn proves himself as a capable 1st ruck In the short term, whilst Jamar is injured, i see that once Gawn shows he is match fit enoug hto play a full game in the ruck, then Spencer goes out and Fitzy will come in to play the role gawn is currently playing. If Jamar comes back from injury over the next little while then i'm guesssing they'll keep Gawn there for a bit longer playing in the forward role. Long term i think the forward line has room for only 3 talls + resting ruck. In west coast eagles circa 2011 terms i could see Hogan, Dawes & Clark, being as potent as Kennedy, Darling and Lynch, and and Gawn and Fitzy being used like Cox and Nick Nat Pederson & Sellar may be best to find roles in the back 1/2 of the side!

great phrase!

it is very sad olddee. Not long ago we spoke about the second half fade out aganst the Hawks (rd 2 2011) being a low point for the team. These days we would have said the first half was a positive and the second half fade out could be put down to us being a young side who have lapses in concerntration!
-
Agreed. When Bailey's had a go at a rebuild it was clear he was rebuilding but you could see where he was headed, you could see the big picture. The team played with flair and youthful confidence which i havent seen since he was sacked. Yes his game plan was not perfect and his team were inconsistant. Perhaps the reality was that his side was too young to win every week and Neeld is pointing out to us now. Neeld says we are rebuilding again, but what are we building towards? What is the big picture? The Hardest team to play against wouldnt have rolled over in the first couple of minutes against the gold coast?! When he is asked about what he wants his game style to look like he hangs his hat on guys that are still high on the opertunity to play AFL footy like Viney, M Jones & Terlich. Neeld doesnt have Jurrah and Wonnamirri running around the attacking 50, but he has Clark and Dawes. The results he is presiding over are a disgrace and its not the scoreboard that is the most worrying part, its the way they are playing - passionless, emotionless, & no flair or confidence - rubbish
-
Of course, but it doesnt mean we cant botch and moan about it on the interwebz Its depressing how the company Line has evolved over Neelds tenure. Originally it was; "the players are coming to grips with a new game plan, it will take time" then it morphed into "We need to buy into the new game plan, but the wheel will turn soon enough, success could be just around the corner" then it became "we're training well, but we cannot put it together on game day" and now its "we just need to see effort"
