All year we have watched our midfield struggle to get first hands on the ball and pondered what would we could do with a noted ball getter playing in the middle. Magner is no world beater, but we have 2 midfield players out from the selected team last week. Both are not lightly framed guys. Looking at the list of players available, and assuming Neeld would want to replace these guys with 2 similar typres, who comes in? Kent & Rodan? Rodan & Taggart? Kent & Taggart? Surely Magner is next in line for strong midfield players? Gold Coast is a team we could beat so i see no reason why he wouldnt want to pick the team most equipped to beat them on Sunday, not the team most likley to be our best 22 in 3 years time....

Neeld said flat out they wouldnt be promoting a rookie this week in his press conference. I hope its smoke and mirrors....

If Neeld is true to his word and Magner isnt promoted then i'd have to assume some one like Rodan, Blease, Jetta or Nicholson will be asked to play in the vacant midfield position?

Roos as head coach would give our FD more credibility, but im not sure that it would help our onfield performance all that much in the short term! It may inspire a few of our OoC players to sign new contracts though

agree, but would like to see jetta return now that he's sat out his suspension. He shows a bit when ever he gets the ball in his hands. Like most of our players he just needs to find it more often so that he can have a impact on games each week

i generally take time to read your posts and i rate what you have to say, but in this case you've discreteted the validity of another poster who has supposedlypassed on information he got from a past player, and then countered it with your own anecdotes of discussions with players?

Most improved - probably Evans but he hasn't played many games to really compare with, so I'd throw Garland, Sylvia, Grimes and Tappy's names into the ring Backwards - Tom McDonald, James frawley, jack trengove, Surprise packet - Terlich, matt jones, Evans

Ron, I believe a poster (grand new flag or grandson of a gun, or some other G name!) mentioned they spoke at length with a ex player still involved at the club (robbo?) who suggested a lot of the players don't enjoy playing at the club under neeld and will look to be traded at the end of the year. Can't remember if they name dropped frawley and Sylvia and co (that sort of era of player) but that was the suggestion Basically speculation, but not sure why anyone would make up such a statement.

Do judge players on a week by week basis? Byrnes was one of our best in the previous game or two. Just like Garland was up there with worst against the eagles and has been great since. Byrnes has been ok for us this year, should play again this week IMO

game against port was kids v kids. The game against Gold Coast was far more legit (closer to best 22) if my memory serves me correctly!

Adam Selwood? he is past it in a big way. He'd make rodan look like the recruit of the decade Mark LeCras wont be going anywhere IMO, but i agree he is a quality player we should atleast make a play for
