  1. I think Jones has been good, but not exceptional. He's like a poor man's Micheal Barlow? (maybe a bit harsh?) I think recruiting players in their early-mid 20's will come into vouge even more so than what we are seeing currently. The game is played at such a high pace and intensity that for draft picks to come in and have an impact straight away in their 1st year they need to have mature bodies. It wouldnt suprise me to see them up the draft age in the coming year and maybe even have a nation wide u19 comp
  2. Unfotunatley, i am a first day buyer whenever the MFC sells hope. I was in for the Bailey rebuild, I was is for Neeld coming on, and no doubt i will be sucked in by however the club packages the next coaching appointment. We dont need another person who can sell hope, we need somone who can teach us to win.
  3. i still get the abusive texts, especially now that the Eagles have won a couple of games in a row. I enjoy the banter though and they know it. Here are a few from Sunday; "hahaha Sylvia you dirty #$*%, you are pathetic just like the excuse for a football club that you play for" "If i went for a team that lost to Gold Coast by 10 goals i would top myself" "Hobart Demons?!" "hahahahahaahaha is Jack Watts going to be made captain next week?! Rubbish" In all fairness when the eagles got the spoon i was relentless with my abuse!
  4. That must feel like a 100 years ago to Frawley, Dunn, Jones and Davey
  5. The Viney's have Jack, Jimmy T & Jessie H living under their roof. Todd's position at the club is close to being untouchable in my opinion
  6. This article on the AFL's website seems as good a place as any to start a match preview for this week's game ; http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-05-13/dees-a-bees-whisker-from-fitzroy-situation. Reading what the Ox has had to say about the state of the club, I can’t help but get a sense of déjà vu, after all we've been hearing much the same here on Demonland for years now thanks to Anti Schwab / Stynes Board zealots like America De Cali & 186 conspiracy theorists like Why You Little. But the quote from the article that struck a chord with me the most is the following; Schwarz said he felt three or four years ago Melbourne were in front of Richmond in terms of rebuilding their side. "Now the gap is probably six or seven years. How that happens and how it got to that stage, I have no idea how," he said. I can’t help but agree with the Ox on this one. It was only a couple of years ago when the Richmond V Melbourne game was a highlight of the season for me. The teams were matched evenly around the ground and the Frawley V JR8 battle at one end and up and coming mids like Martin and Trengove would do battle in the middle. Watts played arguably his best game of AFL a couple of years ago as a key forward against Richmond, and game where Ricky Petterd, at that stage a beacon of hope for the demons faithful, set a record for most tackles laid inside the attacking 50. Fast forward a couple of years and the differences in form and confidence could not be greater between the two teams. Hardwick identified weaknesses in his list and has strengthened it to a point where they seem to have no gaping holes. The Demons have sacked one coach and are delaying the inevitable in sending Neeld down a similar path (in my opinion). Despite numerous opportunities to draft top line talent to the club, the Demons midfield is devoid of class and talent. This is exacerbated through the loss of Grimes and Trengove to injury and Sylvia (who generally has his best game for the year against Richmond) through suspension. Meanwhile the Class and Polish of the Richmond midfield is perhaps as good as any team in the competition, with the likes of Cotchin, Delideo, Martin, Foley and the evergreen Tuck. They say that games are won and lost in the midfield and this will unfortunately be the case again this week. Richmond by 48 points
  7. I must admit it would be far easier for me right now as an interstate member. I dont have to show up week after week and sit through hours of crap. After games like yesterday i feel like an idiot for donating more money than than just my membership fee though, its like giving money to a homeless drunk and then watching them spend it at the bottleshop
  8. Fitzpatrick must play, he's kicking goals regularly and we need that, even if they're not neccesarily pretty. Magner must come in for Sylvia Nev Jetta to come in for Nicho or Strauss McDonald to come in for Sellar if fit
  9. Im not sure whether Spencer will be our next anything apart from a back up ruckman and Napolean Dynamite look-a-like
  10. http://www.wafl.com.au/players/view/3981 Yep, well aware of his history, but we need stars! Not being drafted should have been the kick in the behind that he needed! last game he racked up 29 disposals, 24 kicks, 13 marks. He's a player
  11. Where is Satryconhome when you need him to get us looking on the bright side?! I need him tell us that he has been to training and Jordie McKenzie will be the next Cameron Ling, Fitzpatrick will be the next Wayne Carey, Taggart will be Garry Ablett Jr, and the Kiwi lad will be a mix between Watson/Pendlebury & Cotchin, with a hint of Nic Nat.
  12. Dayle Garlett. He's destined to be another indigenous lad from Swan Distracts who will make it in the big time. Following other Swan Districts players who played in the league side such as Lewis Jetta, Chris Yarran, Jeff Garlett, Sonny Walters etc We should just get him
  13. Sylvia's elbow showed emotion, it showed that he was frustrated with the situation he found himself & the team in. It was a cheap shot and he would have regretted it straight away, but thats footy. If it was Tapsoctt or Jetta doing the same thing there would be plenty of people saying "about time some one showed some mongrel" or "good to see someone going the biff" Please sign on Col
  14. Its funny though, Itjinking about yesterdays game makes me feel like crap but in two weeks time i'll put on my gurnsey and go for a few pre match pints at the Subi Hotel feeling pround to be a Dee's supporter in a sea of Purple and White (and green and red...).
  15. i have 9 tickets to this game. I'm dragging along a group of paddy's from work who i've forced to become Demon supporters in the name of Jim Stynes. Will be interesting to say the least im hoping for a backs to the wall, interim coaching masterclass from neil Craig or Viney!
  16. It pains me to say it, if the same board and CEO were not appointed by Jim, then perhaps the issues would have been more widely accepted eariler on. Jim was such a powerful and loved figure that the emotional attachment to everything he touched made these guys above critacism
  17. Unfortunatley i can take plenty more of this rubbish, because im emotionally invested in the club and no amount of losing will change that!
  18. Neelds press conferences infuriate me, but realistically what can we expect him to say? He plays a dead bat to every question. Gives the media absolutley nothing to get hold of and sensationalise
  19. i used to think there was no point sacking Neeld. Now, i dont see the point keeping him on.... The way this team is playing is sad. I'm no longer angry, i feel sorry for the players.
  20. Are the red and blue colours cursed PSD? MFC's recent history of sagas & now the Falcons salary cap breaches?!
  21. Giggs is a freak. How can a player play at the top level, and for a top line club, for so long?! Who would be the AFL equivelant? Michael Tuck?!
  22. Bet Neeld plays Davis, Kent and Strauss so that our average games experience is lower than gold coast's number!
